Hi everyone! My name is Nitya (nith-ya), my pronouns are she/her, and I’m living just outside of Chicago on the unceded last of the Council of the Three Fires- Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi, and many more groups like Sac & Fox, Miami, Ho-Chunk and more.
Thank you for stopping by my Flosstube channel to chat about cross stitch with me! I woke up feeling a little blue today, so I thought a little stitchy chat might bring me out of it. Still feeling out of sorts, so I’m especially appreciative that you’re spending time with me anyway.
Big thank yous for stitchy kindness from my mom, Sarah, Maryam, Sarah’s mom, Sarah’s sister, and Sandy from the Windy City chapter of the EGA
@HathawayStitchers (who are so much fun to watch) have enabled me, so I’ve broken my #NoBuyTilJuly pledge that I was attempting to hold up along with Jerica @Daybreak_Stitcher

Your experiments are absolutely beautiful. Your color combinations are always fantastic. I picked up stitching again recently for the first time since last summer, and really enjoyed catching up with you whilst stitching. Thank you for being such a lovely human, and for caring about what is happening in the world. ❤

Thank you for a lovely video! I enjoy seeing all your experimenting, the tiny stitching, the starts, the finished, the color choices, the activisim, and your connection to the community. I enjoyed your "needleminders" chat and cannot wait to hear more about what the spring brings when you record next time.

So many beautiful finishes and stitching. I love your journey with each of your WIPs and your experiments. We should definitely invite Sarah’s mom and sister next time. The more the merrier 😊 I’m releasing the whole Yalda to Nowruz pattern on April 1. That book was a great find. So many ways to use those patterns in cross stitch and knitting

Your experiments are so fun and I love seeing them. So many amazing finishes and WIPS in this episode too! And I’m so excited for our #MonarchWatchSAL. We’ve started preparing all the beds for the spring milkweed planting and my dad decided to dig up even more of the backyard to add more space for milkweed this year. 🦋

Oh my gosh your dad is my hero! I, too, have another little patch that I planted with milkweed. The seedlings are coming up and looking good. My neighbor found their first egg today. I can't wait for our SAL!!! I found one more pattern- Carolyn Manning has a Monarch pattern! Hope you are doing well! Happy stitching!

Hi! Thank you for sharing the Birbs in Bandanas 😊 You have so much going on, it's so nice to see everything you are working on. I hope you are having a lovely spring so far, and I can't wait to see your milkweed take off. We are fortunate that our city plants milkweed throughout the city limits to encourage the monarch migration through Texas.

Oh Jennifer! Thank you ♥ Shoot, I wanted to mention your live stream on the Flosstube that I recorded today! I'll message folks about it. I can't wait! Oh I love to hear that your town plants milkweed. I was visiting a far west suburb yesterday that was just amazing with all their native plants, including milkweed. We're slowly doing more in my town, thank goodness!

Your stitching to make the variegated floss splotchy instead of striped looks wonderful! The mittens book looks fantastic and what a treasure trove of patterns to cross stitch. And now I'll have to look into my local EGA chapter.

Oh Danielle, tell me how that goes! I am so curious about how different EGA chapters work. We've got about 40 members in our chapter, but I know some of the east coast chapters are larger. Thanks for tuning in! I enjoyed your catchup this weekend!

It’s really great to see your process and thoughts when experimenting with colours and fabric and feeling free to restart. Also appreciate your commitment and thoughtfulness to the pieces you stitch, especially all the activism. The monarch is a beautiful idea, I really closely associate this emigration with my grandpa as it was something he shared with us. Unfortunately their numbers have been dropping and it’s not near as much of an experience as it was for him as a youth

hello, what a lovely treat to come back home and there is a new flosstube from you. I think this is your best flosstube as far as bringing attention to Palestine and the seriousness of things. You have such a light touch which I don't but which clearly is beneficial. The more voices and the more different approaches, the better. I love your Rosa Parkes embroidery. You have been a machine. Loads of lovely things. I am very jealous of your selbu book. That has been on my list to buy for such a long time but, It is very expensive and in reality, I don't think I will knit any. And yes, you do like to experiment a lot! :) Lovely to see some of your knitting too. your weekend with your friend sounds lovely. And I had to laugh out loud about your present to Steven. So funny. I once made Martin a little box (origami) with basically a handwritten measuring tape of all the reaons I loved him. He is not the romantic type. I found the little box scrunched up at the back of a drawer when we moved. so funny! SOunds like Steven is a better receiver of such presents, sorry about the typos, I cut my finger!!! have a lovely week and keep looking for lob=vely things to balance out all the lovely craftivism. Thank you dear! This is the nicest comment, I so appreciate reading your "letters" and leaving my own! I think we both show our love through our handmade products, and luckily or unluckily for our partners, they get to be the lucky recipients of all that love 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the reminder for balance, I am on a constant search for it! Hope you've been doing well, excited to hear from you both soon I hope!

Hi, Nitya. Just catching up on your videos. You've enabled me to join EGA. Looking forward to the conversations on various current topics; especially on cultural diversity. It's important to me to see that the craft be exposed / introduced to younger generations in my culturally rich community and provide them with an alternative to their e-devices!

Oh Jasmine, this is fantastic! I want to know what you think about the EGA. Ok, so you are near me, right? Windy City chapter or another one? I agree, I want to start some crafting circles at school to get kids off their phones and engaged in making. We'll keep working at it! Thank you for tuning in, I love hearing from you!

@@DaybreakStitchery Hi, Nitya. I believe I am in the "Needle's Nest" chapter which is based in or near Schaumburg. I think it is nearest chapter to my location in Lake County. I hope our paths will cross one of these days. I do not have many opportunities to use my French other than with my elderly relatives and distant cousins in Quebec. A bientot!

Hi Nitya! So glad to see an epic update from you with your two months of stitching! “I really love this piece so I’m stitching it in triplicate.” 😮😂 But all of your triple pieces are looking so good together so you’re really on to something! Interesting timing that you were talking about your guild; I just went to my first local guild meeting that’s part of the EAC (here in Canada) and looking forward to getting involved with my local group! As always you are enabling me to add more patterns to my wish list, starting with the Shipibo Textile and the Monarch SAL this summer! I got a lot of stitching in during this video on a Stitchrovia piece from the Cross Stitch for the Earth book. Lots of bright happy spring colours on this snowy day! Take care and see you next time! ❤

You are working on that beautiful Carolyn Manning and I definitely added it to my list! Whoa, you had snow a month ago??? I guess you are far north enough where that could happen, huh? Hope spring has sprung, and hope you are getting lots of good stitchy time, too!
