Hi Nitya! I always love spending time with you. Your videos give me so much to think about, both cross stitching and otherwise. You have so many beautiful finishes again this video. I really love the strawberry lemonade spool - I haven’t heard of that designer before and now their patterns are on my wish list! I’m still waiting on my pattern to join you and Amy for the monarch watch SAL. Monarchs don’t often come where I live, but last week I saw a flash of orange wings flutter by so maybe it was one! I like to think it was anyway 😊 I did look up native plants to my area and Showy Milkweed is one of them so I’m going to have to plant some next year! I really enjoyed the garden talk. I laughed when you talked about the salvia - they certainly aren’t native to my area either but they magically survive the snowy winters each year and they are what the pollinators in my yard like the best! 😂 I hope you’re doing well and enjoying the break from school for the summer. See you next time! 💜

I have a plethera of milkweed and I do a daily round around the yard to check for eggs 😀 Some popped up in a pile of wood my husband had lying behind the garage, and I will not let him disturb it until the end of the season! 😆 Thank you for the wonderful book recommendations. Your Palestinian piece is so amazing! OOOO - I'm loving Menagerie! I may need to join on that! Love your garden talk. It is always crazy for me to see the difference in bloom and growth over a couple of zones. Love your idea of finding what ecosystem you are in. I wonder if this has shifted with climate change?? Hi Nitya! I was stitching on the Femurs and Fungi SAL while watching this, and loved seeing all your stitching and hearing about your garden. What a transformation you've made to the garden! Love the effort you're putting into native plants as well. So much beautiful stitching as well! The Menagerie pattern is one I have in my stash but haven't started yet. Someday! I haven't seen many people stitching it, so I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on yours. The mention of residential schools reminded me of an article I read recently that talked about a school in Arizona expelling Native students (in 2019!) for participating in an Apache ceremony. A third student was given a warning and ended up not having her own ceremony because she worried about it affecting her chances of going to college, and the whole experience had a big impact on how she connected with her culture. It was maddening to read.
