I'm Canadian and this song is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I often play it and it sends shivers through me. I can't even imagine how intense it must be for people in Scotland to sing this. :) I love Scotland.

First of all...great respect to your and your people scotland..it´s amazing how proud the people are when the sing their anthem, they really enjoy singing it.... i´m sad that´s not like tihs here in germany... and by the way, your hymn is really good !! go for it scotland
I am from Germany but my heart is scottish and Irish. Hope i see many of yours in Holland and in Hampden Park. Coming to scotland for the last two games in the qualifying.

@mm2862 Your comment made me smile. I think it's fantastic you are "related' to Donnie and that your heritage, like mine-is SCOTTISH! My ancestors , since the 1100's at least, are from Stirlingshire-the county that contains Denny, Stirling, and it's western border is....Loch Lomond! In fact, we in belgium, with my student association, we sing Flower of Scotland and Wilhelmus (Netherlands) :p Yet, one of my favourite anthems is this one :)

great post, agree 100%. i hate it when they stand there looking like their about to be shot by a firing squad. Im sure the players want the fans to be passionate to give them a lift but the fans need to see that the players are up for it too...

Flower of Scotland is undoubtedly the de facto Scottish national anthem, although it might not be the de jure national anthem. Ask the Scots what their national anthem is and there's no denying that the majority of us would say Flower of Scotland.

I taught Italy learned your lesson at the world cup 2002 when Italy went 1-0 up and went back to defence and I think Croatia beat yee 2-1 at the end...... But no the world cup final (2006) was a shambles, a disgrace.. The only thing to talk about was Zidane's crest-butting...
I support scotland as-well. I was hoping they would get through to the european championships..... they will definatly going to the world cup anyway. Ya have a kick-ass manager at present.......
can you please tell me where on that final we dived? If you remember well, that penalty the french got on the beginning was a dive, and again we scored a disallowed goal... I agree that final was nothing much, as most final in terms of good play. I sent you a message about it...
How sad, to hear such thoughts expressed. I am English, and have lived many happy years in Scotland. The Scots have every right to be proud of their nation. No reasoning Englishman would think otherwise. The hate you perpetuate does nothing other than shame you. The decent people of England, and there are many, are not defined by our government, any more than your governments choices and actions represent your own. Put away the hate, it is the weopen of ignorance.
My mate is born and bred in Edinburgh, fully paid up member of the TA. Second generation Pakistani, loves are Scotland football and Pakistan cricket. Watches all Scotland home games and some away games too. To say the TA are racist, yeah whatever !

First fact yes....I sing the flower of scotland all the time....and I am Irish.... however I don't agree.. England has GSTQ and sweet chariot.... Ireland has the soilders song and Irelands call. and yes I agree with the third and fouth facts as well.....
