My 7 yr old daughter and I just finished watching your video in its entirety-she wondered if we could come to your house and tell you how much we loved it😁 I said we can do the next best thing and leave a comment❤ Amazing tutorial, like I was sitting at a friend’s house! We had just tried our hand at our own flower pounding this morning (to unsatisfying results). We gleaned so much from you! Flower choice, deconstructing/reconstructing flowers with bulbous bases, even how to delicately hammer the flower…everything was helpful! Thank you so much😊 On a side note, you are MOVING away from that glorious flower garden?!

I’ve done collages of wedding flowers and funeral flowers as memory keepsakes for people. Made them into stitched framed wall art and pillows. I LOVE the pillows or quilts others have made from my pieces. The least showy flower makes the best print: roses the worst!

Great video..thank you for the time and showing someone new to this! I am excited to try this asap. So beautiful! I will be trying to use many things of course haha, but especially love that you implement the greenery! I love green and green colours, my favourite colour. I loved the results you had.I think will pursuing this much more than just natural dying, it appeals to me much more..one thing I've noticed with natural dying is that most natural dyers I've watched etc never seem to have many green dyes, is it because they are harder to keep green? I want to try finding some really varying colours of greens hahaha..I watched an amazing video based in Japan, an old Japanese man has been carrying on his fathers legacy, but his father had sadly started using chemical dyes, so when his father died, he went back to researching natural dyes, and it is quite amazing what he's been producing!! Absolutely stunning and the video is so relaxing to watch.

Hi I was wondering about sealing this for washing? Could you just use a color stay fixative?
@LastMinuteLaura
@LastMinuteLaura Год назад
I don't know. The fabric was pretreated to fix the colour, but washing and heat will eventually break down the pigments, so be gentle! That said. I have several pieces that have been washed and dried many times that retain almost all the details and colour. So, there's that.
@lyrebird9749
@lyrebird9749 Год назад
Beautiful. I suspect using iron as a mordant is why you have dark blue and brown colours (from pink and red). Have you tried this with other types of mordants? Also, what does it look like after washing? Do the prints bleed or blur ?

Hello! Flowers do not bleed or blur but they do fade with repeated washing. Also, I've only used iron so far. Thank you

pretreating the fabric, scouring and mordanting will help the colours hold, not just the browns. I scoured with dish soap and washing soda, then mordanted with iron solution for this fabric. Enjoy going down the dye rabbit hole!
