If you didn't know hitting an Eb2 or E2 was possible, you'll lose your mind when you hear practically any gospel quartet song ever, or even songs from the Statler bros & Oak Ridge boys. Singers like William Bobo, Henry Bossard, JD Sumner, Ellis Johnson, etc... made their livings predominantly in the first & lower second octaves -- not to mention russian oktavists. Even popular singers like Johnny Cash & Colter Wall frequent the lower second octave.

It was released the Fall of 1965. I saw them play it live that summer at a small County Fair in Princeton, Indiana. They were opening for Johnny Cash featuring June Carter. It was an AMAZING concert that cost $2.25 to get into! I was only 13. I had no idea what an incredible concert that I had just seen until years later especially for $2.25. 😅 Anyway, the Statler Brothers said they were releasing “Counting Flowers on the Wall”later that year. I knew it was a hit. I bought it as soon as it hit the local Five and Dime. Soooo good!
