about the load and saving that is never going to happen unless he has souls we are the reason he cant do that stuff, so its like a curse for you since I dont want him to do that
@@zekeram129 oooh yea, i killed myself to see what could happen since erasing my file wont do it, but it was kinda disapointing, no intro nor text, just fight
@@robertoxlnubillux8964 Someone theory that since Kris is never at any point filled with the power of determination these are normal save points, no lore attached
What's this? An original and catchy boss theme that uses elements and leitmotifs from existing themes, while also not going overly crazy on the instrumentation? HELL YES!
What examples do you consider "going overly crazy" with the instrumentation? I'm genuinely curious, because I find it a little hard to quantify when it is that a song goes too far/not enough with it. If you know some example yourself It'd really appreciate it bud.
@@alzhanvoidsansado In my opinion, it's when it sounds like the song no longer fits in the source material. So songs that lean heavy on the orchestral or metal songs are a little too far in my taste when it comes to fangames. This one hits the perfect balance.
@@logan_M_ I see. Personally, I love those, but only as a separate song. Love hearing it as a song, but yeah, encountering it in a fan game usually doesn't work out, unless its something edgy like Underfell.
Yeah. Must have been scary for Kris and Susie, too. In my playthrough, Kris was rushing right through the Ruins' exit with running, and Flowey just... grabbed Kris. That's some really fast reaction time Flowey must have.
Imagine if Flowey found out Kris can rip out their Soul and then the two have a weird "bonding" moment after he realizes Kris is the only other one who actually knows what it's like to be Soulless
I have a theory similar to that where Kris will bypass having to fight Asgore entirely by just….taking out their SOUL and letting him borrow it after they learn about the barrier and why Asgore wants to kill them.
I actually wonder why Kris is just able to remove their Soul when no one else seems able to. Maybe the pre-story timeframe has something to do with it because Kris had used a Savepoint before and there is an unused asset in the game for a Chapter 0.
I honestly didn't expect to fight Flowey at all, I thought it was just gonna be Toriel like "noooo it's too dangerous actually", but here we are. If the future sections are gonna be this cool, then this is gonna be one hell of a ride.
Kind of surprising that Flowey would challenge the party that early. Even in fangames, he generally doesn't start fighting the protagonist until the end, if at all.
@@brandyt890 he's desperate to find Chara again. He thinks that if there is another world with alternate versions of his, then there should also be an alternate Chara in that world. So he decides that if he takes Kris's soul, he will be able to travel to the other world
@@valwark Honestly, agreed. I was really excited to see the duo basically go through the whole game. Even a "golden corridor" or something like that was mentioned, and I thought it meant the Judgement Hall. I doubt I will be as interested in this game after Section 1, mostly because there will probably be games I don't know at all (barely played EarthBound).
@@GigachadHGDYDBHDB I saw that one. I thought it was cool, but also strange that it would have different soul colors, which hadn't been a thing in Deltarune. Yet.
Honestly, the introduction to this battle system is so good. Flowey being confused, asking what you’re doing is so perfect. And him basically insulting you, saying “Nobody’s gonna know what you’re doing if you fight like that” with that grin on his face is so perfect for his character. Fantastic fan game with fantastic original tracks.
I love how in this fangame flowey is so surprised to know there are other worlds because in undertale he basically said that he got bored of undertales world
@@Her_Imperious_Condescension And (as we see in section 2 with the introduction of Earthbound) so many other worlds that are not Undertale (For example, Terraria)
I agree. If I had known this would happen, I would've grabbed the Toy Knife! I ended up using up all of my items, which wasn't a big deal since this is the end of the demo anyhow.
The fight also seems pretty difficult, as Flowey hits pretty hard compared to the previous fights, and you're basically limited to the starter healing items and no Ralsei or Noelle for healing.
@@gigavoltx8340 This fight it's only hard in Pacifist, because you can't get too much gold to buy more healing items and since (i think) leveling up increases your damage you also deal low damage in this fight.
This fight begins something that I love with Deltatraveler. The final boss of each section is something you have to fight no matter what. Acts merely provide some assistance in making the fight easier, or make the boss vulnerable to damage.
It's worth noting of how the final bosses so far are those that oppose the act of sparing enemies due to understanding gamelike mechanics, with Flowey and (GG!) Underfell Sans believing the world to be Kill or be Killed (with the former understanding save mechanics and latter LV), while Alternate timeline Pokey being an immortal being that traveled across thousands of timelines. Kind of similar to deltarune bosses and secret bosses that became chaotic due to the knight/someone
What do you think the final boss of section 4 will be? It’s hard to tell, since right now we don’t even know what part of the game it’ll take place in. My guess is either the very start or the very end.
Love how reserved and creepy this theme feels. Even during the intense parts, it's like Flowey is toying with you. Makes it even creepier that you can straight up kill Flowey in this fight. No running from him, it's a battle to the death!
Leitmotifs used: -Your Best Friend (baseline) 0:08, 0:16, 0:22, 1:13, 1:47 -Your Best Nightmare (Yellow SOUL) 0:11, and pretty much throughout the entire song afterwards, though at some points it takes more of a percussive instrumentation, like 0:43 -Heartache 0:32, 0:52 -Your Best Nightmare (Main section) 0:32 (Bell-like instrument) -Don't recognize the next part, but it sounds a bit like Rude Buster/Enemy Approaching 0:43 -Your Best Friend (Main section) 1:03, 1:36 -(Motif used nowhere else) 1:13 -Once Upon a Time Reversed 1:25 Other minor note: I recognized a similar drum pattern at the ending (as well as the "electricity"-sound at the beginning) from Amalgam.
Ngl, that link to Amalgam is quite smart. Well done spotting the motifs tho! I wouldn't have found out the Once Upon a Time section if not for your comment
@@de_sennectere Technically, since ASGORE's Heartache session is in 4/4 time, as are the sections in this song. However, it's still the Heartache leitmotif.
Definitely what I would consider what a Flowey fight would look like the music is great adding more sinister tone to “your best friend” and he is not too over powered because even Flowey admits that he is not that powerful saying things like I would’ve never been able to get past the old fool after you defeat Asgore. So in a nutshell good job
except Asgore is straight up the single most powerful monster in the entire underground. Flowey is pretty tough in his own right, just not the top of the dogpile
To me this flowey fight is exactly why i’m excited for the rest of this. It isnt just Kris and Susie slapped into a game, things rin differently because they’re there (Chapter two follows this idea wonderfully)
I wonder how he would react when kris found out that flowey is the Asriel of this dimension ??? And I would also like to know if kris would try something to save him or leave flowey to his fate ???
Susie: GOD DAMN IT KRIS WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE TO *FIGHT* THIS FLOWER!? (Why is this so goddamn good? I thought this was a meme game after Ralsei smoked a fat blunt. This fight alone is good enough to be a game, with context of course.)
Late, I know, but I gotta say this one sounds great during the HARD MODE version of the fight! The slight speedup of anticipation makes it such an exciting track!
Legitimately one of the best original fan compositions for the Undertale series, and it was made for a game that was meant to be treated as a crack-fic.
Love the fight. Tbh, I expected the game to be cringy but was pleasantly surprised by how wrong I was. The differences were very unique and I liked how the creatior tried to seperate themselves from the original story. I am so glad that the final boss of ruins was changed to Flowey! Also this is amongst my favourite rendition of Flowey fight even if I felt as if the attacks were limited in numbers. The OST, sprite animation and small instance of how Flowey accidentally maxing out your TP unintentionally for Susie to use Rude Buster all went to tell how much care was put into the game. Even if you don't complete the game, I am glad that I could see how the mix of Deltarune and undertale could potentially work out so thank you!! . Also like the small melodies of "your best nightmare", "hopes and dreams" and "undertale". They play for a short period of time but I am glad that the OST isn't just dominated by them but is mostly original! It may not sound much but the initial dry or dead melody until ost picks up the pace is so goood and important for the very first impression you get. That was what I needed to hear while I saw the sprite animation and battle getting started to feel "oh shit, it is about to get serious.".
Yeah, this fight in particular just honestly really FEELS like an Undertale fight, the only exception being the lack of Flowey remembering save shenanigans
God I just really love this track and how accurately you were able to write and design an actual fight against regular Flowey, and kept him in character the whole time too. I am super jazzed about this song in particular, and my favorite bullet pattern is the one where he tries to literally eat your soul by biting the little rectangle it floats around in
I do wonder though... Will Flowey follow us through the grey doors and become a recurring enemies through out Kris, Susie and Noelle’s journey to get back home?
@@AcousticJammTheGamer this is a bad idea but what if when you DO kill Flowey, he doesnt actually die, and when he DOES appear in the other worlds, it's the Sprite that appears when you kill him.
I went from knowing you from Toontown stuff and the Offline team, and now you surprise me with a deltarune/undertale fangame AU. Ryno, you've come a long way, and I am proud of you!
Okay, but I think we need to have a talk about Flowey's impact on Kris. It must hurt them to see what their own brother has been reduced to in this world. Where it's kill or be killed.
I’m so happy to see you gain this attention for your Wonderful creation, Sarah Do take your time with making Deltatraveler and take breaks whenever it’s needed, either way, whether it’s this, Underfell, otherworlder or something completely different, I’m excited to see what you make next
LOVE your fan game so much!! This was a super entertaining and fantastic fight. The soundtrack and unique attacks really made it for me. The vine attacking Kris caught me so off guard in the best way possible
@Myles Fletcher and how many more sections are in undertale is just another part to this amazing story Unless they use the doors to skip ahead which is more boring (they could at least have them find something important and then get out of the door like exiting the dark world)
I love how the game samples Earthbound with the noise at the beggining and middle of the song. Still keeping True to the source whilst making something original. Mad Probs!
I love the dual purpose behind the Heartache motif sneaking its way in, being both a reference to who the boss of the Ruins is supposed to be, as well as a little hint of Flowey’s true identity…
Did we legit get a Base Flowey fight? When Toby didn’t even try to do such a thing? I applaud you. I seriously do. For bringing this concept to life in a way that would’ve worked in Vanilla UT.
i love this fangame music, has that nice undertale style i like. keep up the great work. this fangame is awesome and can't wait to see more of it when its done
What a damn good fan game. It didn't make any big assumptions about the main story (except potentially [SPOILER START] Kris's dream [SPOILER END]) and the writing is faithful to the characters. The deltarune gameplay in the style of undertale was such a nice feature.
a year later and I still keep coming back to this banger though I may be a little biased, I am personally a big fan of big imposing bells in boss themes and this has A LOT OF THEM
this was an amazing game, from the dialogue to music to battle system, i'm impressed. i look forward to what you make in the future. dont work too hard ;p
I really like the motifs for heartache/Asgore mixed in there hinting at flowey's real identity, and the very tense, unhinged beat set to flowey looking down at you like he's about to gleefully rip you to shreds. Few people in the fandom remain true to the original characters, and you did so fantastically. Keep it up.
Prolly my favorite part of the soundtrack so far. Keep it UP, man! I know this has prolly been said a TON so far, but cant wait to see how this goes from here.
