FIghtHype owner Ben Thompson recently caught up with Hall of Fame legend Floyd Mayweather, who had a lot to say about several topics in the sport of boxing. You don’t want to miss what went down. Check it out!
No it isn’t because most people tune out automatically except his fanboys. If you’re being asked a question, it’s more impressive if you can just answer it directly and logically.
I’m 3min into the video and saying to myself, is this ninja gonna be talking about himself the whole interview, or the damn fight… glad I read this comment, while I watched the first 3min. I’m turning this shit off now! 😂
Interviewer: "Floyd, how impressed were you by Crawford's performance?" Floyd: "I was extremely impressed with the breakfast my chef made me this morning, helluva chef"
Floyd's ability to make every question about him is truly a work of art. He does it so fluidly too. Interviewer asked him about the Errol Spence and Crawford and he gradually started talking about when he boxed Errol at 35 and Canelo at 36. I didn't catch on at first then was like this does not pertain to the original question.
He should fight Crawford and make 200/300 million and give Crawford 100 million And if he wins even Floyd haters will have no choice but to admit his the best boxer ever
Funny you would say that....... Floyd received 1000x times more HATE than he ever received LOVE........ Don't try to rewrite history........ The HATE is still STRONGER........ Check the comments....... STOP PRETENDING
"Like I said before, he's a helluva a fighter....I make smart investments. I never ducked or dodged nobody. I'm blessed. Hard work, dedication" - any Mayweather interview
@@sf2explus184he ruined a generation of boxing by making a narrative based on money instead of accolades. 100 years from now he will be known as the best businessman in boxing, not the best boxer.
"Floyd, what was your favorite part about the Crawford-Spence fight?" "My favorite part of that fight was when I was catching Manny Pacquiao with stiff jabs in the 11th round whle he was trying to jump in." (Floyd fan here)
“Helluva a fighter, hard work, dedication, easy work, helluva a performance, I took no damage my whole career, smart investments, protect yourself at all times”.
Thats what happens when you avoid fighting the best at their best like floyd did. Its why now he offers nothing in an interview. The most boring legacy of all time.
Interesting takeaway, Floyd: "you can get the belts, while I get the biggest checks". takes me back to when he lost in the Olympics and realized ranking is subjective, and money don't judge
and regardless of what all these commenters say, he's undefeated, highly paid, can still speak a complete sentence, and will continue to get free money (exhibition sparring matches). Hats off to him, he truly mastered the business side of the sport.
@@JamalJSmartI don't know what that hype was about. Understandable people tune in to watch a Mike Tyson take someone's head off or a Connor mc Gregor because he looks to do the same .but people Wana tune it to watch him outpoint someone off the back of a jab ? It's impressive but I don't really see the draw factor ...not to me anyway .would way rather watch ngganou power .that's realistic in a situation. Not some 150 pd guy that could easily get slammed by your average 230 pd guy
"At the end of the day it's like this, Terrance Crawford is a helluva fighter, I made smart investments and became my own boss and beat Canelo." Mayweather (Probably)
@eduardochavez7925 he said, "When they talk about Mohammed Ali, they bring up Floyd Mayweather." he's insane. Ali transcended sports. He was a real icon!
Ughh he did answer questions. Floyd pretty much says EJ is too big for 147 & 154, and should fight at 160 & 168. He's too drained at 147/154 without directly saying it.
@@lloydruiz7866 I can give you an example. I don't know how big you are into Football/Soccer. It is the most popular sport in the world and footballers are literally the biggest sporting names globally. Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo are the two current biggest names. Every time interviewers ask Messi if he is the best of this era, he says the question is irrelevent it's not up to him to decide if he is the best but the people will decide who the best is. Whereas when interviewers asks C. ronaldo if he thinks he is the best, he says "Of course i am the best". No wonder more people like Messi's humble approach.
@@CoachQ773bruh what are you on this is not hating lol. Wonder what world you grew up in. This is just simply them saying how he uses the same words very frequently and it’s become quite a good little meme. If anything it’s love not hate i don’t know what your talking about
Fighthype: Let's talk about Terrence Crawford win against Errol Spence Floyd: I really dont want to bad mouth those guys... sorry I'm jumping around. Lets go back to the fighters. Fighthype: Its ok yeah lets talk about that fight Floyd: Yea I beat Canelo, I beat Dela Hoya, I beat Pacquiao. My fight against Diego Corales. I'm TBE I'm great! The best to ever do it! Thank you for the interview 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Really a valid point. If the world is comparing fighters, GOATS, constantly to Floyd from then to now... It does say a lot. We create the standard just by comparing everyone to him.
Back in the day when we were blessed with truly great fighters around every corner, Floyd and his people would have found it difficult to implement the kind of terms that for a long time were beneficial to his career,,,really good fighter though.
This man was so dedicated to himself, and craft as a boxer, he cannot turn it off himself in any aspect of his life now. It always, have been, and will be about Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr.!
it's because he's surrounded himself with paid sycophants for the last 25 years. he's never had an honest conversation with a single person in so long that he's permanently fooled into believing all this garbage he's spouting, a psychologist should talk to him and then write a book about it.
Floyd said exactly what i've been saying. Errol walks around at 170+ cutting all that weight to make 147 after being inactive for more than a year he looked weak & tired. He should be fighting at middleweight.
This dude said "let's get back to talking about the fight", then proceeded to say 'I don't want to talk about the fight " 🤣🤣. I got to stop watching Mayweather interviews because he rarely ever answers anything lol
Man he just need to go ahead and drop that documentary about his boxing career. Like Conor did for Netflix. Floyd been talking about it awhile, he needs to drop that like a “the last Dance” type of deal.
A fans perspective is different as fighters perspective, i heard when you reach that level it's more of a business. It takes alot of work to reach mount rushmore, alot of sacrifice and punishment so it's just wise to aim to earn more when you're there. Sad for the fans because we did not see them fight in their prime though
The chicken floyd 😂 brain wash all dont know about boxing that he was legend 😂 floyd old now, we got terrence, people remember you how to run fast to make 50 and o
This man really turned every question into a floyd mayweather acknowledgement & this aint the first time he do this every interview i really think he doesnt like the attention off of him
I started laughing hella hard when Floyd said when you fight for PBC you fight for me 😂 his probably right just funny how he made it about himself once again.
At least he was honest! He said that he didnt want to answer the question about other fighters and would dance around it. And he did just that! And made it all about himself, which is what he should have done since it was his interview. Respect! I like all 3 of then.and dont want this to be a "who's better debate." What they do in the ring will speak for itself.
One thing I have to acknowledge is this...he's true to form. Someway...somehow, he manages to take a question not addressing him and make it to be about him. Same Floyd. I thought I would hear a convincing breakdown about a once in a lifetime undisputed fight in the four belt era...nope.
@@marzazor5626 You keep looking at storm clouds thinking the Sun might be behind them...but no. I've learned my lesson. Storm clouds ALWAYS carry rain! lol
We haven’t heard from Floyd in a long time, man we all need to watching his trash talk training and supreme boxing skills this guy was one in a million a legend and icon of boxing forever
Floyd indirectly said if the Two fighters had been a little patient to had fight later they would have made more money. He also said if Spence had fought at 160, he could have had full control over the fight. He indirectly told all fighters to seek advice from him to help them make smart business moves. Much love to you Floyd.
He said something very important in this…he would not have Errol fighting at 147. He should be at 160 or 168. Now read in between those lines or take it for what he actually said…
@@JJohnson313 literally took him 15 mins to get to that lol…and that’s a fact Errol should be fighting around 160. He’s walks around at about 175-180. The drastic weight loss is effecting him now
For those who want to get straight to the point. At 14:40 Floyd says if he was training Errol Spence he wouldn't allow him to fight at 147 or 154 for that matter. He says Spence should be at 160 or 168lbs.
Thank you! Basically Floyd said nothing about the fight other than saying it was the wrong weight for Errol - I.e. making an excuse for Errol. I wonder if he ever talked about Errol fighting at a higher weight before Errol lost.
@@jamescollis7650 To be fair to him, Floyd said it in the first round already. At the beginning of the second round (before the knockdown), the commentator mentioned that Floyd was sitting next to him and just told him that Spence looked weight drained and should move up.
Interesting to get Floyds views on current fighters as he was able to pick apart all the great fighters he defeated.in regards to Spence I hope he doesn't take the rematch and instead preserves his health. He has already achieved plenty.
Its sad people complaining about Floyd talking about himself on an interview of him but yet can transfer that negative energy into bettering their lives
Floyd basically confirmed in this entire interview what we already suspected. It was rumored that Floyd Mayweather was blocking the Errol Spence v Terence Crawford fight “If you think PBC is just Al Haymon it’s not we are one.” “I didn’t want Terence Crawford and Errol Spence to fight.”
HE DIDNT WANT THEM TO FIGHT BECAUSE HE KNOWS AND LIKES BOTH OF THEM BUT Obviously HE KNOWS THEY NEED TO FIGHT TO FEED THIER FAMILIES HE WAS TALKING PERSONAL NOT BUSINESS
@@flacko_jody2130Al Haymon didn’t want to make this fight, why you think he offered Bud a petty contract at first? It took Errol & Bud speaking personally for it to really get done.
One thing i know from this man he never says anything about sparring. And he sparred the greats like Pernell. He mentioned it but never what's its like because he respects it. That's class. Nowadays fighters talks about who got knocked out and beat up at sparring
It's a matter on what you focus on, right? There is money and then there are skills and Floyd had both along with smart timing and management. He was also one helluva promoter of his fights. He knew what to say and when to say it, extremely confident, smart, engaging and entertaining. He was 3 steps ahead of his opponents, knew exactly where he wanted to be and never in a position of disadvantage in or out of the ring. Impeccable defense, speed and could light you up as Pretty Boy or Money Mayweather. The epitome of hit and not get hit. He trained like a madman and could do it all. All the special effects, inside, outside, check hooks, body work, granite chin. One of the greats in his or any era. And if you don't know he will tell you himself. God bless Roger Mayweather, knew everything about boxing.
Floyd was being honest. He fights for the big pay day. So Regardless of the fight the fans want to see he did not make it happen unless the money made sense. I can’t blame him but this is what hurts the sport of boxing. This is why why we rarely get the big fights everybody wants to see. As a fan over the past 20 years I think we could have seen more competitive fights.
It’s changed a lot these last couple of years because boxing was dying. We are seeing more of the best fighting the best. A big part of it is Jake Paul bringing more money into the sport.
@@doedoeboy1000that is easy to say because your not the one putting your life on the line fighting. He is a prize fighter he supposed to get the most money possible.
Not so sure. Crawford is an tremendous fight but his resume is extremely questionable. Porter and Spence are literally the best fights on his resume both of which didn't happen til recently.
Would be cool for Floyd to actually talk about the actual fight aspects of what was probably the biggest fight of the decade and most unexpected beat down of our era. I'm sure he could break it down in a way that would really open up eyes to what happened if u go back and look. But he's just all like nah I don't want to disrespect anyone, and I rather not talk about them anyway. That's because when I fought Diego Corrales, I earned well over $20 million in my twenties and I am in great financial shape to this day
Floyd is really a person you look up to man , you just can’t deny his greatness and the business smart side of him is very respectable ! He’s earned it
What yall clearly missed is that Floyd just made it clear Errol was a drained fighter in this interview when saying he should be fighting at 60 or 68. While all yall heard was him talk about himself, he did it without making an excuse for Errol or putting down Crawfords win. Says everything about ppl who said Errol didn't look the same which was clear as day 😂😂
he will never look the same fighting Bud at 147 or 154. Bud struggles making 147 he looked more drained and dried out than errol at the weigh in. Errol style will never beat bud even if they fought 10 times. I like Errol also but drained was not the reason he lost
@@Flamethrow11 naw your absolutely right drained ain't the reason he lost, but it was the reason he was 2 or 3 steps slower with lack of balance and timing
@@kenblackwood His timing was off because Bud took away his jab which he usually uses vs others to get his timing. Errol said in post fight "he a strong dude" which he couldnt push around plus the early knockdown is why balance was off. I like Errol but i think he should move on because its not a good matchup
He's also implying yhe result doesn't change at 54, the weight drain wasn't the reason spence was so off, but youre forgetting floyd owns part of PBC spence is PBC, that's his guy ultimately. Even though he prefers crawford as a fighter which spence was jealous off. All of spence idols prefer crawford, they didn't believe he could beat spence. Which got Spence annoyed. Don't take too much into what floyd is saying. Spence is his guy from a business point of view, so he has to protect him. Floyd knows ESJ stylistically would struggle. Now as you see Crawford is getting to pick his opponents somewhat, It'll be Charlo I assume and if not chatlo I see him fighting Spence again and fighting Tsyzu then retiring.
It took him 18 mins and 22 seconds to flip a Earl Spence vs Crawford conversion....and flip it into a conversion all about himself😂😂 And In between what he was trying to say is... Yall might think Crawford is better than him....but Crawford will never make Money like him...EVER
This is the grand total of what Floyd said about Crawford Spence fight in this 18-minute interview that was actually relevant: 'the best man won' and 'Errol should be fighting at 160 or 168'. That would have fit in the title of the video!
"See what happen was nothing happened but actually when you think about contextually and say it with a trajectory...I cant speak bad on Crawford or Spence... Respectfully...Like my fight with Zab Judah"
@@Extreme_SpeedCanelo is the one who insisted on the catch-weight, so you blame it on him, not Mayweather. He even weighed only 1-lb more (153) during his weigh-in vs Austin Trout prior, which is why that excuse isn't gonna fly on why he lost to Floyd. Had a 15-lb weight advantage on fight night, and still got that ass whipped by a 36-year-old man. His actual excuse after the loss was he couldn't touch him, and didn't say shit about his legs being weak in the post-conference. Just bitter about taking that L to this day.
He has a way of getting his message across without actually saying it. He basically said Errol didn't have legs or defense that night. Shame on Derek James!
For all y’all saying he didn’t talk about the fight he did he basically said Spence was weight drained and that’s why it looked so one sided he said himself “ if I was his trainer Spence would be at 160lbs not 147 or 154 “
Wasn't weight drained vs Any of the other 28 fighters over the last 11 yrs.. .Funny how that works. I also think u added words to wut was said out of HIS mouth....foh. We got word from the nutritionist today that Spence had an "AMAZING" weight cut. ..
Cause bro talk all out of order and shit I heard all that just couldn’t put it together. Now it makes sense him saying fighters fight who they want our job is to put it together basically Spence is the only person at pbc that wanted the Crawford fight
I really wanted to know what he thought about the Crawford Spence fight, but of course all we get is Floyd once again praising himself, this guy must be impossible to be around
People say he didnt answer the question but he did. He said it indirectly. Spence shouldnt have been in the ring with Crawford. The fight shouldnt have happened. But Spence Insisted. Although the fight did happen, Spence didnt come into the fight fully prepared; Legs werent conditioned and Defense wasnt properly prepared( Spence footwork was off and he had terrible defense for the opponent he was facing.) Also Spence no longer needs to be fighting at 147(Drained) nor 154(possibly still drained). Great performance for Crawford he is the Better fighter but Spence was drained. All you have to do is Listen. Im still team #Mandown
He is also saying that Crawfords victory at 36 is amazing and that Errol played himself by trying to fight at that weight especially off of a layoff where he was not training ‘weak legs, bad defense if he always intended to do strap season his training camp would have effectively been 15 months’ I also believe he is indirectly agreeing that Crawford did not need the fight for legacy as much as Spence did
@@clarity2115 No, you're just a another predictable black man who struggles to communicate like Floyd. Floyd never been a "read between the lines" types & says what he thinks upfront. He just doesn't want to give other fighters their dues, especially bud when it's rumoured he took a hammering from Spence in training. Stop a5s kissing, probably a grown man too
it's remarkable how he clarifies the question behind the question. 'After the terrence vs errol, who is the...' Floyd goes and talks about himself because he knows where everyone is going with it.
Thats really not the case. His silly exhibition bouts have set an awful precedent thats allowed joke amatuer RU-vidrs to make more money out of boxing than talented, dedicated champions. He's really disrespected the sport and continued to exploit his gullible fans who'll still pay good money to watch his pointless nonsense match-ups.
@@harveydean7952or creating more streams of income for fighters, professional athletes, and influencers etc. This also creates more jobs for people like you and me, because of what it takes to host these kind of events, even down to the advertising so be a little more open minded my friend.
Let's keep it a buck Crawford would have been on Mayweather head. Floyd as a fan I can't spend your money. Happy for you and all the money you made. As a fight fan all I care about is who is the best. Bud would of put hands on you and would of had a great chance to win. Put some praise on the man Bud instead of talking about yourself. Everyone else puts praise on your skills you can do the same.
Floyd resume is smoke and mirrors fr he didn't touch the big money until he fought a old golden boy who was the first cash cow they moved Floyd strategically he never fought a fighter like bud
Talking to Floyd is like calling to speak to a live representative and having the automated voice messaging system loop you around over and over again then topped off with a sprinkle of elevator music during wait time 😂
We all are disappointed bc Floyd only talked about him as usual, but if u listen closely Floyd does not want to talk about Spence vs Crawford bc if he says something they are going to say Floyd is hating and he is salty so he keeps his opinion to himself, TC beat ish outta ESJ but clearly ESJ was not at his best that night for reasons he only knows
Please. If he ain’t at his best that’s on him. He looked no different than when he fought Porter, Ugas or Garcia. He made the same mistakes with them that he made with Bud. Difference being Bud was able to capitalize on em.
@@TheGr8-1exactly this weight excuse was always gonna be what people said. Bud said it 5 years ago that when I beat him there gonna say he was drained etc and that's exactly what people are doing. Styles make fights and Errol is always gonna have problems against Crawford if it's at 147-154 because of the style. Too fast to accurate physically very strong so you can't just push him back and he's a master of punching off your punches. Footwork/angles just technical things that bud can do that was just getting to Errol
