But Shane still fought him none the less, right? Why would Shane choose to fight Mayweather when Shane was passed his prime if he was ducking him? It makes no sense.
@@donavonhoward114Quite simple Shane already lost five (5) times, hence he was no longer undefeated, hence he was no longer the main attraction, hence he had very little to lose and more much to gain by fighting Floyd which was and still is the face of boxing along with a 5 million dollar payday to Shane win, lose or draw. So it clearly made much sense for Shane to use that fight as a comeback, if he could have done what no one else had done. He ducked Floyd when he had more to lose than to gain. Hence why Floyd callled out him and Oscar earlier in their so call prime, Floyd said he himself was the best and those guys should not be making more money than him. Shane has proven himself to be a liar so I have very little respect for him as a man.
Shane knew that right hand that buckled Mayweathers knees was his best punch because he dropped alot of guys with that punch. But to see Mayweather shake it off and keep fighting let him know he was in for a long night. He had no answer for Mayweather after that 2nd round.
If you knew boxing you know that Shane left hook was devastating, the right hand wasn't his only money punch. He also had a great liver shot too, he has a good arsenal.
@@TheEsquireofSports.2.0 We know that, Shane knows that, they know it too but, they like to pretend / Fantasy match that Floyd loses. We had to let them dream...otherwise they have nothing!
After those first few rounds Floyd took total control of the fight, I watch it twice ( live and replay). Floyd did what he does in almost all his fights in the later of his career, made adjustments and figure out the opponent and totally dominate them. Come on Shane, give credit where it’s do
The fight would’ve been closer but Floyd still would’ve taken control in the second half, Shane never makes adjustments, and now that I think about it wasn’t he taking Epo before he got caught
floyd zombies are too much. the man handpicked his opponents and still lost the first time to maidana and lost to pac since all he did was run and disgrace himself.
What he is describing, is Floyd having the ability to take him out of his element. Can't really say his body didn't move because the fight went the distance. He just got out classed and was overmatched.
Yes, body was good enough to allow him to catch Floyd with those 2 punches, but since he couldn't finish him, so he says his body portrayed him the rest of the fight, FOH Shane
You're in the same era. You were just at different weight classes. Lets not forget who ducked who. When he saw the the money, he was willing to take the beating because the risk was worth the reward. What is this guy talking about?! The bell didn't ring after you hit him. He walked you down for the last 30 seconds of the round.
Shane did not duck Mayweather…look at his career. Fans throw that word “duck” around way too casually. These are pro fighters…they aren’t afraid to fight each other…they’re built different. Shane and Floyd generally were not in the same weight class for most of their prime. Shane took a number of tough fights at 154 when Mayweather was fighting at lower weights. The ideal time for this fight to have happened was when Shane was at 135 and Floyd was at 130. However, Shane moved up two weight classes to fight an undefeated Oscar De La Hoya at 147. How can anyone say he ducked Mayweather for that fight? That was a much tougher fight at the time than fighting Mayweather AND it was a bigger draw money wise. Hard for me to understand how you say Shane ducked Mayweather when he moved to heavier weights to fight De La Hoya twice, Vernon Forest twice, and Winky Wright twice.
@@richardcollins2622 The reason people say that is because it's in response to the people who have claimed for years that Mayweather ducked Mosley. I agree with you. I don't think either guy ducked each other because they were in different weight classes.
@@richardcollins2622He literally said he couldn’t fight Floyd because of his tooth. Then he proceeded to say Floyd should fight someone else. That is ducking 101.
@Chosen1-2320 Mayweather fought younger guys and older guys. He never made an excuse for loosing. Floyd fought the most world champions and could have used that as an excuse but he didn't. Floyd always stock to his game plan which is hard to do when ur fighting.
This brother must be smoking his socks , he got one lucky shot the entire match and he's out here talking like a beast. Floyd rock your head the entire fight
Pretty Boy would’ve dogged him. Shane cut this shit out. You had the chance and caught Floyd with a couple of good shots and he DOG WALKED you from the 3rd round to the end of the fight.
Not that simple..if it was the real mosley..the young one..he would of been Floyd's toughest fight. Shane was way too fast. If Either of them fought prime Tommy Hearns..they get knocked out. Hearns was way too fast and hit too hard.
Shane Mosley got beat by Forest because Forest had superior timing. Timing beats speed! Mayweather has better timing and speed than Forest. He would have beaten any version of Mosley at lightweight, welterweight and Jnr Middleweight.
I still say a prime Shane Mosley has the potential to beat Floyd Mayweather. Pure boxers gave Shane Mosley trouble. Timing was a part of it, but in regards to boxers who beat him in his prime, both Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright were pure boxers who had both a stylistic advantage, height advantage, and size advantage. It’s hard to beat a fighter with superior boxing skills and greater size because your power won’t be as effective as it would be with someone who is your size. But with Floyd Mayweather, a prime Shane Mosley is actually slightly faster, much stronger, and bigger so the only advantage Floyd would have is his skills. That may be enough, but don’t think it would be easy. I believe Shane has more than just a chance to win.
@@only1dman339 if we’re talking about Floyd Mayweather before his hand problems became evidently worse (pre 2002) he was a more offensive fighter..and had the timing and speed to hurt and knock down fighters. I don’t disagree, Mosley was an excellent fighter but he was extremely overrated. I still have my old Ring magazines including from 2000-02. The way they fell over themselves over him after his first De La Hoya win was laughable! Credit to them..after he was exposed by Forest, they wrote the “sugar” nickname should have been retired after Leonard!
A younger Shane could have given Mayweather problems. But someone from that era I really think would have given Floyd problems is Vernon Forrest. He had speed, power, and aggression. He had nice footwork which you need against Floyd and he threw those hard uppercuts.
@@woodike3300 No excuses. Floyd just beat him. But I just honestly believe Shane Mosley was a way more difficult fighter for Floyd to beat about 5 years earlier. The difference is Errol was considered the dominant fighter by many right up until they got in the ring. I always felt Crawford would beat him but many people felt Errol was going to destroy him. Crawford just showed them he's better than they thought. But I don't recall people feeling that Shane was going to destroy Mayweather. By the time Shane fought Floyd he was still good but to me he wasn't as consistently explosive as he was in early 00's. I know they were in different weight classes back then. But I would have loved to have seen him fight that version of Shane.
Nope. Not having it. Shane you ducked the hell out of Floyd.. Ya'll was in the same era. Floyd called you out and you said you couldn't fight because of a tooth ache. Stop the madness.
The way Art ask the tough questions be funny as shit “How was it like when he was walking you down in that Philly shell? Was it frustrating? Him walking you down the whole fight? Cuz after the 2nd round he was walking you down pretty much the rest of the fight.” You ain’t have to rub it in like that 😂 show your guests some respect lmao
@@MultiKadafiwhose fault is that? He was prime in '05 he just lost to Superior boxers... Shane had already been beat by Oscar de La Hoya Vernon forest and winky wright cause they were better not cause He was out of his prime stop with the excuses please
@@BL77357 Floyd ducked Mosley in 99. When Mosley was the #1 lightweight in the world. Mosley asked Floyd on making a fight and Floyd said I want to stay 130lb and beat monzon record of title defences which was around 26. Once Sugar Shane moved up. Floyd then went up to 135lb while only making around 6-7 defences of the title. Breaking the monzon record was load BS.
I remember watching this fight live. Shane rocked Floyd twice in the second round and what I saw was Floyd stand right in front of Shane and proceed to take his heart. Thats when I knew Floyd was special.
Shane be like : "If I didn't duck Floyd for 5yrs with the toothache excuse, I would've knocked him out in a *FANTASY* match like everyone else. Floyd can only win *REAL* fights!" LOL
Shane clearly has a problem with Floyd, what was Shane excuse when Paquaio beat him? Nasim stopped Shane from quitting, Shane told Nasim to stop the fight against Pacquaio. Floyd was in his era, they fought. Maybe Shane is punch drunk or jealous
This is one of those could've would've should've situations. Just admit you lost to the better boxer because it will continue to go, i was too old,my weight wasn't right,I had an injury,my costume was heavy,I had diarrhea the night before,my dog ate my homework etc same excuses. Cotto,De La Hoya,Pacquiao,Canelo,Juda were are all top fighters and at the moment they were talking about destroying Floyd and how'd they'd out box him but they all got defeated. Floyd was different, his speed and stamina alone made many lose to just that.
Shane thought Floyd was not going to be able to take a clean punch. He landed a flush right hand and Floyd took it and came back with his A game, and it was over. Shane is a legend, but Floyd was levels above him with Ring IQ.
Shane definitely blew his load with his explosive output in round 2. That much ferocity and explosiveness so early in a 12-rounder is taxing on any elite prime boxer. Let alone a 38 year old Mosley. Prime Mosley still loses though, just in more competitive fashion.
@@Y.A.504 You guys think because Oscar threw more punches that he should’ve won. He threw more punches but he landed way less of them. Floyd landed 50% of his punches to Oscars 20%. Come on now
@@whatwhat9004 we gonna have to agree to disagree because i think Oscar won it was a split dude no majority or unanimous decision i believe Oscar was tryna make the fight and Floyd was on his bike no he did landed more but Oscar landed the more power shots to me Floyd is the only boxer i know who can win a fight on decision by pot shots and running and holding real talk if both boxer got in the ring and did that it will be no fight
@@whatwhat9004 plus we didn't he take the rematch instead of retiring it was a close fight ppl was split 50 -50 huh what you gonna say about that huh🤷🏾♂️
Wouldn't exist in my era? Dude Floyd literally out boxed You, Oscar & Manny decisively. Shane landed a few Great clean shots in that 2nd round but that's boxing & the way Floyd kept his composure, then dominated the next 10 rounds was immaculate...
Maybe. Hard to say. What I do believe is that a younger Mosley wouldn’t have gotten tired so easily like he did after the second round against Floyd. I at the very least think it’s a much better fight.
Shane always has power since he was a kid training at my grandpa Tony Cerdas boxing gym with his Dad Jack in Pomona where my grandfather is a boxing hall of fame coach with multiple champion fighters from his gym in Pomona
It was the 2nd round Mosley was still fresh he had the chance to get him outta there but didnt and Floyd was taking it to him by the end of the round. Floyd was calmer in the corner than his own corner!!!
Shane talked about it in a different video on this channel. Floyd didn't wanna move up to 135 to fight him back in 99. They were just in different weight classes. Floyd wouldn't move up to 135 till 2002.
Mosley failed to mention that he avoided Floyd when he was young. Once at Light weight when Floyd caled him out, then years later he avoided Floyd at Welterweight. Theirs a youtube video where Mosley after a fight the interviewer asking him about a Floyd fight, and his excuse was that his tooth hurt so he can`t make the fight. Its finally when Mosley is 38 years old he finally decides to fight Floyd. If he`s so confident that a younger version of himdself would have beaten Floyd, he would have Fought Floyd when Floyd was calling him out when Mosley was younger.b The reason Mosley could knock Floyd out was because Floyd is tough, and knows how to survive when hurts and have fast recuperative abilities. And Floyd adapted to Mosley style that is why Mosley could not have any more success after the 2nd round.
Mayweather was calling out all the guys he named. Before when he won the belt vs Manfreddy. When Mayweather fought Mosley I gained Hella respect for Mayweather cause Mosley almost dropped May twice and came back and dominated the rest of the fight.
Ok!! Shane you (MIGHT) have a point with the era’ shit but you can’t take anything away from Floyd he can’t help what era’ he came up in just give the man his props..
No he doesn't. They're all in the same era. They were at different weight classes. Floyd called out all of these guys and they ducked the fight because the risk didn't meet the reward.
Same outcome. Floyd even said it in the early 2000s when Shane was ducking him.. Shane punches too wide. He always has. Pretty boy Floyd would have picked him apart no problem
Mayweather is the best boxer pound for pound in the history of the human race, so anyone criticising him needs to go check themselves. Mayweather never been knocked down once in his record-breaking career, what does that tell you?
@@CHRISTIANNWO Mayweather fought the best in 5 weight classes (his first fight moving up to that weight), and he made every fight look like child's play. Mayweather destroyed every person he fought with ease, including Mosley.
There's no way to know that, and it's all subjective at the end of the day. But I will say heavyweight boxers have a lot more power. Let's not act like he could go into any weight division in any era and go unbeaten. That's tough to say when heavyweight boxers in those old eras were brutal. You could play defense all day and still get your head rung with just one shot.
Floyd was 40 when he fought canelo. And canelo fought jacobs after coming of a 4 year battle with cancer. So no excuses. Just like y’all say no excuses for Errol, no excuses for Shane.
Much respect to Shane, but it sounds like it doesn't he get thats the reason why Floyd didn't fight him when he was closer to his prime in the first place. Floyd knew father time had already walked Mosley down, he just took the the opportunity to add another name to his win list. But in Shane's defense, those two shots rocked Floyd good and made it interesting to watch.
Or was it that he could make way more money at the time fighting the golden boy ? Floyd wasn't even on ppvs for until 5 years after Mosley fought Oscar the first time. And when he fought Floyd he was a 39 year old man on a double training when berto pulled out due to earthquake in Haiti
@@robertsouza8423Oscar was ducking Floyd for years he wasn’t trying to make that fight. Besides Oscar was only 34 when he fought Floyd. To put that in perspective Terence Crawford is 35 and you saw what he just did. The age excuses y’all make is just 🧢
34 at the end of a ton of big fights against the best of his era no ?’s asked. Floyd cannot say the same, waited until they were faded. I understand people have a their favorites but in all reality Floyd is not the goat. Like I said watch just the highlights of the first fight between Shane and Oscar and be honest with yourself. Crawford would have got that work on that night too.
After Floyd took them two shots, he went to the corner and made some adjustments. Came back out and beat the brakes off of Shane the entire rest of the fight, wasn't even close
I am a Shane Mosley supporter but when fighters say they are "not able to do what i normally do" it's because they are outclassed skill wise. Its subtle things like distance and timing and angles that makes the struggling fighter feel that way. Yes, Mosley was older which had a little bit to do with the outcome but Floyd was no spring chicken either. Furthermore, if you look at what Errol Spence said after the Crawford fight he bellowed that he "didn't feel like himself" either. It the same principle when a fighter is out-skilled. When i use to spar, better fighters would make me feel the same way.
Yeah Floyd wasn't in the mix with the big dogs back then like Mosley,Delahoya,Trinidad,Ike quartay,Vernon Forrest,Mayorga...All these guys were going heads up w each other back then while Floyd was fighting little guys.
Mosley didn't Wana fight Mayweather when he was younger. Mosley made an ear excuse to not fight him. And also Mosley didn't want to get tested for fights. Also got caught using peds.
Just looking at the title of this I feel compelled to tell everyone in here that I would’ve been a millionaire if I had one more number right on the powerball 😂😂😂
All The Credit To Floyd's Accomplishments , however Sugar Shane was Passed his Prime by several Years . The Best Prime Sugar Shane was 1996-2001 Which was 9 years past by the Time Floyd Fought him .
Also Oscar still had his speed and power when he Fought floyd and Floyd beat Oscar way more clearer then Mosley did in his 2 fights with Oscar. Most people seem to feel Oscar deserved to win the second fight. And the first fight between Oscar and Mosley waas razor thin close. I even seen/heard a few people say they felt Ocar won the fight fight also. And Floyd would have beaten Trinidad and Ik Quartey easily. Trinidad lost very bad to highly skilled boxers. And Ike was too basic for floyd. And Floyd was in the same error but was avoided by Oscar and Mosley at one point. Trinidad was fighting at 2 high a weight class for Floyd also.
I agree with Shane. If Floyd fought these guys in the early 2000's, he would have been toast. People can say what they want, but Oscar put a beating on Floyd, and Oscar wasn't at his best. Castillo gave Floyd an ass whooping he would never forget. Floyd was one of those guys who could land less punches than his opponent, and still win a judges decision. He wasn't just blocking, and slipping punches in those fights like people say he was. Those fights weren't like the fight with Floyd facing a young Canello Alvarez. Floyd was getting hit as well. It's just that if you didn't have a 35% connect percentage against Floyd, the judges would see the round as a lost round for you, even if you did more damage, and landed more punches. Pacquiao didn't even give these guys a chance in hell. He put them out of their misery, and forced them to retire. That's the difference in a legend, and a cherry picker.
He sound stupid human Floyd damn near the same age and ask her is only four years older than FloyD, I’m not the biggest Floyd Mayweather fan, but give the man is props that he deserves
Mayweather was peaking, when all of the greats around him were fading or already shot. Even then Mayweather was very selective on who he fought. No doubt a prime, young Shane Mosley knocks Floyd out! Mosley would finish off what he began in round 2.
So what about when they put all the other fighters against warm up opponents ijs look how many champions Floyd beat yet people wanna pick holes n his flawless record when they had 20 years n the ring to beat him if he runs cut the ring off if he can’t punch hard go straight in for the kill but n the end 50-0 lol
