Hi there,, thanks for the kind words!!! Glad to hear the videos may help you out a bit!! Hope you have a great fishing season and thanks for coming by !! Tight lines to you, Capt Paul
No fishfinder, the snap connects directly to the bucktail size of my choice. Thanks for coming by, have a great fishing season!! Tight lines to ya , Capt Paul
TY FOR THE VIDEO, ONLY THING YOU CAN SEE ON ONE OF MY RIGS IS line, sinker, hook or lure period no swivels, they gather slip gut and are not really needed, people who take fishing serious should always master their favorite knots and loops and takes pride in them like a surgeon ,snaps and swivels are convenient although the time it takes you to build the rig i can do in half with no extra 's..I liked and subscribed
Hi Felix,, I have to say that I don't even carry the spearing/squid on the boat anymore and fish the Gulp exclusively!! :-) I really believe in it that much!!! As for rods, well, I LOVE the Star Rods Stellar Lite series and the 7 - 7.5 footers in that lineup are a VERY nice match for the fluke bucktailing but any other rod in that same length and action would work as well. Just make sure you check the pricing AND quality against the Star Rods :-) :-) Thanks for coming by, Capt Paul
We have been killing flounder in the river and Chesapeake bay with our rig. (There is a video on my channel) Always looking for something new.We have won and placed in several tournaments so far this year and filled a freezer. Love flounder fishing.
Hi Edward, that is Thundermist's 55lb T-Turn swivel. yes, you can certainly use a circle hook and is actually something I have been seriously considering and going to be testing out myself in the VERY near future
Really enjoy your videos, I to use the Thundermist the t turns., Did not know if you were aware that they now offer a teaser turn, saw it on Amazon.Thundermist also has a video of it. Keep up the great work
John Toth thank you for the kind words. I did not know of a "teaser turn" and can't find the video you mentioned on their Channel. Would you happen to have a link to it ?? would love to see that!!! Thanks again, Capt Paul
HI BMN, the killies are awesome bait but around here not many shops carry them any more. In summer the peanut bunker are an AWESOME bait for the fluke. Hard to argue with the spearing/squid combo either :-) However, I will stick with the bucktails and gulp as the results have converted me!! :-)
+Frost Yep, I don't think you will have ANY issues with the white either!! Good luck out there and hope you nail a FATTIE out there!! Cheers, Capt Paul
BMN, it has been slow around my area as well, not sure whats going on but feeling is the brown tide we are suffering through on Great South Bay this year is involved :-(
great video. i have never tried bucktails and gulp but i have seen people have much better success with them than the spearing they give you on party boats. i will try them on my next trip. i dont own any rods tho. can you recommend a rod that works best with this rig? thanks so much.
BMN, I can only offer second hand but I've heard my neck of the woods has hit a temporary lull. There are bass reportedly still over your way. It might be worth a peek :-) Good luck !!!
And one more thing are the striped bass still in we weren't fishing because we live inland pretty far and would like to know whether to target blues and bass or fluke.
snakemonkey555 its not necessary by any means, however I always fish a mono leader attached to my braided line so to keeps the line's visibility as low as possible :-) Good luck on the water, Capt Paul
Hi A REDTAIL I do not fish for blackfish very much at all. Their Fall season here on Long Island overlaps the striped bass fishery and I stick with the stripers pretty much all the time :-)
Hi Justiin, did you manage any doormats out of those you landed ?? I assume the fluke season is just about winding down for you folks up north by now huh ?? Thanks for your comment, tight lines, Capt Paul
+Vhon Canlas the weights used are going to vary depending on water depth and current speed. Each situation is different and not one weight bucktail will cover all situations. you want heavy enough to just bounce along the bottom without it gouging into and dragging through. Going to have to try different sizes in different situations i'm afraid to say, thanks,, Capt Paul
Hey do you recommend the tide right single buck tail Hi low rig because I've been using it for a while and it's been working pretty good but I can't find another one of them anywhere and they catch fluke and flounder like crazy
Sorry to say I do not have any experience with that particular brand. I can say what you want is a bucktail with a somewhat thinner gauge hook so it penetrates the fluke's jaw better. Some large size bucktails have HUGE hooks, too big for fluke's mouth IMHO :D, cheers, Capt Pau
Hey Capt, what lb fluorocarbon leader material do you suggest for Brooklyn fluke fishing? Any brand in particular? I know you used 50lb but I think that was for demonstration purposes. Thanks! Aaron
snakemonkey555 yes, the heavy line was demonstration purpose. I typically tie the fluke rigs with 30lb line. I use mono in Great South Bay and that is Berkley Big Game clear all the time :-) Hope that helps, cheers Capt Paul
Eduardo Angel here in my area the time is NOW!! :-) I pretty much spend the summer fishing for fluke till end of August then I switch over to searching around for weakfish we generally see in late Summer and early Fall :-) Good luck out there, Capt Paul
