I can’t believe it took this long for Caroline to be on a track named Siren. To me it’s the perfect descriptor for her voice. Ocean of Tears also has a siren theme, so go watch that if you haven’t. She’s extraordinary.

This song is actually about the pandemic. *“I was living by myself in London, and it was the darkest time in the pandemic,” Polacheck added. “I was really going through it, feeling so small, unable to control anything in the world, and the lyric ‘sirens’ was in reference to constant ambulances I was hearing.”* And if I could With just a sigh I'd stop the tide Of siren cries This song is beautiful, this video is beautiful...but knowing the siren cries being referred to are ambulances carrying dying people and that the singer is actually wishing to save them makes it heartbreaking as well.

I interpreted the song as “sirens” that lead good men on. They promise you the world then show their true side and betray you. Ultimately becoming unfaithful and crushing your heart in the end. It’s what happened to me. The song never meant anything about ambulance sirens but “sirens of the sea”.

I also know and understand mythology but I'm not going to just agree with your interpretation over the person who wrote the lyrics lol. I get that you disagree with the artists meaning, but using the word "never" is just silly lol. You cannot tell other people their subjective interpretation is wrong...but actually saying the ARTIST HERSELF is wrong is another level. Sorry dude but...no. The woman who wrote the song knows what she was thinking and feeling when she wrote it. Also, sorry you're going through a tough time but this is an artist's rendition of something, not a 1:1 take on the mythology of sirens. Your interpretation is fine, but it's not necessarily "right" for everyone else, including the people who actually created the art. If you want to deliberately see something other than what the artist said that's fine, but other people can still see it how they want...including seeing what the artist intended.

absolutely GORGEOUS visuals. caroline is just so incredible, and both looks and sounds so ethereal and haunting and beautiful here. flume absolutely knocked this production out of the park; my first listen i was put off by how much it contrasted to the caroline's vocals, but now i legit cannot get enough this has been on repeat since it released.

This means more to me than you can ever know. Thank you, Flume & Caroline Polachek (and iHeartComix for highlighting this so I found it). 10 years this year, I lost my younger brother, Timothy Wong, to a motorcycle accident on Mount Hamilton in San Jose. He worked for NVidia and just finished his grad degree from Stanford in Electrical Engineering (UCLA undergrad). He was an Eagle Scout and survived 13 years of Catholic School. He loved to run, hated the site of blood, used Coca Cola all his life to wrangle his ADD (might’ve been alive if he was on proper medication/therapy for it), loved his online gaming and irl friends, and tragically went on a rash motorcycle ride with people who didn’t know him or his inexperience and didn’t look after him except to watch him bleed to death without calling 911. He was 27. I honestly believe he intended to be 37 this year. Just thoughts: she is singing, "...and if I could with just a sigh, I'd stop the tide of siren cries." According to that & the video, I don't think she's intended to be the siren. My interpretation is he was lured to his death by sirens, where he'd been lost in the water and obscurity until she comes from above to give him peace. Moreover, I think the lyrics are about a desire to stop all the chaos and hurt in the world, but being unable to and just having to watch it unfold.

This song came up as an advertisement I had to find out who was behind this magical melody sounds great voice and beat goes together beautifully! Absolutely brilliant stopped everything I was doing and stood mesmerized by this woman's voice listened to it over and over her voice is so beautiful I had a few stressful things on my mind but totally relaxed me and brought me to absolute peace this song could not have popped up for me at a better time then now. Been a fan of both for a while. Sadly been sleeping on flume the last year and never knew Caroline Polacheck did a track together. I check her music page often, though its not under her video section and sadly never knew I had been missing out on this masterpiece. Stumbled on it randomly. Feel like my soul soars across universes when I hear this. Cant help but put it on loop
