This poor old Yamaha has suffered from complete and total lack of maintenance. So far, I've had to change spark plugs (one had no gap at all), air filter, oil and filter, adjust the shock preload for a light person, (my wife), flush and fill front brake, rear brake, clutch reservoir, and now I need to rebuild the forks (new seals and oil), and since I will have the forks off, I'm going to pull off the triple tree and check the neck bearings. The last thing that needs doing is to adjust the valve lash to zero.

It's beginning to look amazing that it could still run. Sad to see anything be abused with such a lack of basic attention, while expecting it to function. Guess that's why it was sold. Owner couldn't didn't want to "listen" to cries for attention. Reminds me of neglected pets dropped off at the county pound or along side our country road. Always glad to see both animate and inanimate brought back to life. God Bless.

Did you use DOT 4 Brake fluid in the Clutch Reservoir as well?

I have the spec number for the hydraulic fluid we used in the Navy permanently tattooed into my brain...MIL-H-83282....lol What I ate for dinner last night? Not so much....
