I won the giveaway. I installed it on my 29 gallon aquarium. It's lightly planted and has around 25 black neon tetras. I never had any ammonia issues and my water was always crystal clear. In my experience it will work well up to 30 gallons. As for it being quiet, my aquarium is about 3 feet from my bed and I never really heard it.
Really appreciate this video! I’m looking at a 107 for my 20 long and wasn’t sure if this would work, given the depth of the tank. I’ll go ahead and order one. I’m not able to get water changes done every week right now so hoping this filter with added media will help me keep the tank healthy in between tank maintenance.
I'm a Father Fish fan, ocean aquarium shop fan, have deep soil and sand substrate in my tanks. I leave them alone, just observe, fish really healthy. They don't look like a pristine show tank, they look like mother nature. 😊🍀❤️
I'm going to buy one for my 20 gallon. Been running a Seachem filter on it (which is quite good), but figured a canister filter might bring more benefits overall. That, and, another aquarium could use that Seachem filter instead. Thank you for this video, it helped make my mind up about this.
Like Fluval stuff! Using a 206 on a 20gal tank. I use a foam prefilter on the intake strainer, it prevents a lot of crud from getting into filter. Using Biohome too. Tank doing great.
Why they wouldn't make the spray bar clear is beyond me, who wants to look at that thing in their beautiful rimless tank. Same thing with the hoses on the filter, wake up Fluval, it's 2022. Great video thanks.
Looking forward to see next video. Afther watching father fish. I have try this method on 2 tanks. And now afther 5months in to it. I can tell you. Probly 2 of my must stabile tanks. No problems
The first digit in the model number is for the size (1-, 2-, 3-, 4-). The 0 doesn't matter. The last digit is for the generation (-5, -6, -7) The 105, 106, and 107 are the same model, just with each ascending number, a newer generation. The x06 generation is still being sold in stores, but is being phased out by the newer x07 models.
Agree they are good filters. Only thing I disable is the corrugated hose, slows flow in my opinion but can get around that easily. Sunsun I have too and they are ok, have lots of media room. The fluval trays are definitely innovative in design. I wouldn’t run a 107 on a 20 gallon personally, I’m a high flow person in planted tanks. Maybe use it on a 10. However as much as fluval cost these days I think I would go with Oase biomaster in a new set up just that being a little more I have my heater in the filter and their prefilter I find superior to other brands. Wish other canisters would copy that design.
pecktec I understand that with over powering filters. Lovely that ADA created the lily pipe variations that can make flow more gentle. I run large filter in my nano tank and use the spin pipe to mitigate the powerful flow. It makes it super gentle while still having superior circulation.
Sean...your shirt!!! LMAO too funny! I have 2 Fluval tanks I haven't set up yet, Fluval F35 (15 gallon) and the F90 (34 gallons). Websites have been low lately for all planted tank related items (even got an email and a refund a couple of days ago from MyAquariumBox). Of course these Fluval tank kits come with Fluval canister filters, so this video is very helpful for me. I will not forget the gasket. I will not forget the gasket. I will not forget the gasket.
@@pecktec Hey, thanks so much for answering! I ended up searching your videos and found the one where you made your indoor pong as you called it! I will be doing something similar!
Hi Mr Pecktec. I am especially fond of your Fluval tech reviews. Do you envisage doing an update review to your hang on the back filters or do you plan to do an internal filter review on the fluval U series? In any case keep up the good work. Your fluval reviews are the bomb. Cheers.
So this doesn't work for a 65? I got a new tank and it came with it. Ive never had a canester filter before and the water is murky as F and omg it's so freaking loud.
Wonder how do we connect this amazing canister filter to your aquarium chiller, which is using other type of hose... anybody tested it? Care to share more info on RU-vid? Thank you very much everyone!
Great video. I've often wondered whether the amount of biological media we actually need in the form of ceramic or sintered glass is way overestimated. Many people run quite large aquariums on sponge alone.
Would this be too powerful for a 6 gallon tank? And what is the max water lift? I really want to place this on the floor. Also can you adjust the flow rate?
Would you run fluval 107 over a sicce shark adv internal filter. I bought the sicce but haven’t used it yet because I want one of these 107. I have a 14gallon
I would say the absolute best thing about it compared to a HOB is that it is quiet! No vibration. Mine is in a cabinet under my tank. I tried a HOB and we could hear it all over the main floor of the house....hated it.
I watched your video shortly after ordering a 307 for a 50 gallon aquarium. Do you find that your biological media stays fairly clean after removing the foams and polishing pads from the bottom tray?
I never cut the hose I shed a tear when you cut that hose I always buy an extra when I buy a fluval your better off having extra than not having enough....
3m of hose is too long to be running on each line. You would have hose hanging down and lose pressure with the distance water needs to travel. It’s meant to be cut
@@ShaneO-nm2hh idk I was just checking I have two 207 and two 407 they work great uncut it travels but the pressure is great I just cleaned them they are great filters 🙂
Any idea why when I take the taps off a lot of water, and I mean a lot squirts out? Not just a drop or two I mean it literally squirts out. It’s also quite loud working. Only bought it today
Here's a tip, keep the canister filter inside a small tote that's about the size of a 10 gallon tank and put a battery powered sump pump water alarm in the tote as well. Doing this eliminates two problems, one which you experienced while opening the filter and the other simply is leaking
I really want to get one of these but I have guppies and there can be alot of fry, im worried about the fry getting sucked into the nozzle that's in the tank..does this happen or isit just me thinking it does?
If you're worried about guppy fry, you can use a sponge on the intake. Aquarium Coop sells these coarse intake sponges that prevent debris from going into the filter (and fry)
I have a lot of substrate (ADA Amazoin) and sand cap. I have the fluval 106 on it with CO2 on a 20 gal tank. Hair algae just started showing up. Something I noticed is that you have a couple bottles of Aquavitro in the cabinet, or it looked like you do. Are you using that on your tank? I switched from Tropica all in one firtz to the Aquavitro line about the same time the hair algae started... My thinking perhaps reducing iron. At the moment I have a automated doser doing exactly what the bottles recommend. Plants are doing excellent other than the hair algae.
Yeah I used them for a bit but didn’t notice much difference. I had hoped with the plants getting more nutrients the algae would subside. But nothing is really working in there.
FIRST OF ALL PRIME YOUR PUMP FIRST, AND THEN TURN IT ON!!!! I stack my biohome vertically in my 406. It's really not that hard if you prop the trays at an angle when you start to stack them. Be patient at the beginning, and by the 4th row the pieces are stacking themselves. I did the same on my FX4 and 5 as well. You'll have extra room to "loose stack" on top of those trays.
Hi, i know what the paper says, but do you think this 103 can run a 75G tank with only an arowana and a pleco? The little guy is just too cute to pass! Thanks and regards!
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED by this pump, I bought 2 on one of the largest online sales sites: the observation is that they are not waterproof, the seal system allows air to pass through. I am based in the north of France and no reseller of these products.
@@pecktec lol.[ rabbit hole] Seriously the anoxic filter has been around for more than 5 years. People with very expensive Koi had been using them, in the UK. Under very low O2 levels another group of bacteria will use the 02 in the N03(nitrates) thereby converting the nitrates into nitrogen gas. Cool huh? check this out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vbSv54F3xnE.html
@@pecktec ok looking foreward for it. BTW you can get fluval to get cracking to incorporate the anoxic tech into their filter line as well. The beauty of the anoxic thing is it last a long time. This unit is possible to be fitted into fluval's filters. The anoxic can just be a canister that can be dropped in to its special space [ that's fluval engineered] Hey this idea is worth a ton of usd lol. Fluval can also start making baked bentomite clay and laterite. How does ionic attraction appeal to you huh? lol
Not a fan of "Alien". Just unable to watch that t-shirt. My experience with Fluval is their tubing is weird and I could not make it work. It would not fit in a standard 55g stand. It's just not made for real world uses. Probably over designed. (I did skim listen to the video) LOL
Hello I normally have a sump system never a Fluval. I had to set up an emergency 36 gallon bow front tank does this make efficient oxygen for a saltwater tank? Thank you!!
