This is me fluval edge marine tank setup showing how i installed my AI Prime lights and set up a very small refugium to protect the pods from the 6 line wrasse. Lots of corals in there but they will be transfered into a bigger tank
thanks man, i only remove water when i buy new corals and need to put my hand in to put my corals in. otherwise i only syphon 10l water out and pour new water in once a week. i dont vacum my sand ever.
The light is an AI prime Screwed into the back of the plastic cover. Yes you must use the waterfall filter to get oxygen into the water. You don't have to have a skimmer. I didn't use one for the first 6 months and I didn't notice any change when I added one.
@@juanfeo1059 there use to be clips for the original light to connect to. I used a Drexel to remove the plastic so I could move the filter to the left and make room for the skimmer. The skimmer was home made with acrylic and airstone. You can also buy an airstone skimmer that will fit in that are. I've seen some glass skimmer around that would fit from Japan. The thing under the filter is an acrylic basket with holes in it that allowed me to put chaeto in there as a refugium to grow pods and remove nutrients from the water. Also made with acrylic. It's not required for a successful aquarium but it also helped with water splashing and noise.

Could you please post a link to the light and maybe a diagram or sketch of how you built the skimmer out of perspex. This tank is a marvel of personal engineering and patience.
Hey love the set up about to set up my edge was just looking on how to use the prime led with the top stilp being able tp be used i like hpw u did u looks amazing did u habe to cut the back of the top to fit the ligjt in there
Great set up! I have the same set up and currently have the original lights. I have a clown and hermit with soft corals in atm and will be upgrading soon to the AI Prime also. having a slight problem with cynobacteria atm anything you could recommend to keep this down would be great?
I tried Rowaphos to get rid of any additional phosphates but that did nothing. I suspect it could be because the light that comes with the Fluval Edge 46l runs at 7,600K, which apparently cyno likes to grow. When I upgrade to the prime this month I'm hoping the cyno calms down. I do run weekly water changes and get the water from the local fish shop. Who coincidentally are having the same problem in their tanks. I suspect it could also be their RO water. Quick question did you need to cut off the whole of the back of the lid to fit the prime in? Also whats the item to the right of your filter?
i made a skimmer to put next to my filter. i cut out the hinges that held the old light to fit everything in. yes i did cut the back panel of the hood to be able to cover everything.
That's awesome. I've just purchased the AI prime HD now so will fit that tonight. I also may look into making a skimmer myself. It will probably help with the Cyno problem I'm having. Thanks for all the advice David.
Paul Kennedy i used a dremel to remove the plastic bits that held the stock lights. i bought acrylic sheets from ebay and used acrylic glue to weld the sheets.
Ohh dude I have 2 12g fluva and i want to make one them saltwater but I need help with a filter for it I was thinking a canister 50g for extra distraction
@@jhonatanperez5945 Your probably fine running the filter that comes with it. 12 gallons isnt very much and its easy to do a small water change. i ran chemipure and purigen in the back and replaced every 6 weeks.
Karol Pogorzelski no i dont remember having any problems. Becasue the light was so close to the water the light was able to bounce and reflect from the glass sides.
