Lake District Fly Fishing in Cumbria is fantastic.
The river Gelt rises in the north Pennines and runs south to join the River Irthing just west of Brampton.
This video is of a trip in mid September 2021 to the lower section which runs through a sandstone gorge. There are many pools which require some nimble footwork and it is filled with easily spooked wild brown trout.
I used a 7'6" 2 weight rod with dry flies. Only two fish landed but many more seen.
This was a great day out despite having an unplanned dunk in the river as a result of slimy stones. In general the footing on the wet sandstone is good. Just watch for the boulders.
