Yes, keep the fly moving and don't let it sit and "soak". So pull back the D-Loop and then get it on it's way immediately. We want a taught D-Loop to move those flies. If there's slack, the fly will remain stuck. Also it's helpful to raise the rod just before making the forward cast as this will help reduce the line stick, plus it will keep the fly moving. Normally raising the rod might result in a blown anchor, thanks to the reduced stick, but the heavy fly will negate that risk.
