Fished S. Bear last Friday morning and N. Bear in the after noon. No browns but fooled about a dozen bows. Great video!!! The Driftless is awesome 👍🏽👍🏽
Hey man, nice video on South Bear! There are some SWEET browns up in Waterloo Creek if you get tired of the stockers-- caught about 15 today using almost exactly the same rig you're on, almost no rainbows (I think I caught one that was a fat holdover). I use a perdigon nymph instead of a copper john but same idea, water's full of BWOs. I agree with you -- I think a lot of these fish haven't seen many flies
Copper J's and hoppers were slaying them when I was up there in early October. I did not fish Bear though. I knew it would be busy, so I found a few streams with almost nobody on them during the week days.
Lol loved it Mike. Your personality is just quirky enough to enjoy. Would be great to share a stream with a guy like you. Great looking fish and good content/editing as always. What the heck is a handline hillybilly LOL.
With the way the brush was covering the stream I had to really rely on that strip to cover distance. I wouldnt consider it a "Strip Set" but yes I would strip up and into the fish as best I could!
Found your channel recently. Great content! Love your energy and enthusiasm! Heading to the Driftless this weekend for some Halloween fishes. I notice you regularly name your fishing spots. While this can be seen as useful info by some, it sure has to potential to hot spot some locations and put undue pressure on fisheries. In my opinion, not naming the stream you are on is one way to be respectful of both the fish populations and other anglers in the area. Peace.
Use anything from a 3 up to a 5 weight, you can totally get away with a 6 too. I always bring a 4 or 5 weight and a 6 weight for swinging buggers, sometimes even a 7. Dont be intimidated, just go on out there, they're pretty dang eager to bite
