Fly Fishing Water near me.Big Fish, Beautiful Small River

This small piece of fly fishing water is near me. If all the other streams or rivers are heavy due to rain, I can guarantee that this water will still be able to be fished. It is quite high up in the catchment and so has less water in it full stop. The Trout at this time of year are fat and putting on weight daily with the insect life all around. I am using a ten foot tapered leader with a large dry fly and then a dropper of three feet and a small weighted Nymph to get down. The rod I am using is a 5/6 weight 8 foot 6. It is heaps of fun to cast but when you hook a good trout like the one in the video, it can be very difficult to keep control of it. This was a great fight and a fantastic day out. Hey HerosEnd. na by the end of February there will be much bigger fish in here. I will get in lower down as the water level drops and get into the Browns as well. :)

Was that a rainbow? Regardless it certainly had some shoulders on it. Here in the Western US I fish for rainbows, Tigers and Browns in the same still water impoundment. Pound for pound the rainbows fight harder and have more stamina than the other two species by a long shot. The Kamloops strain of rainbows are the hardest fighting fresh water fish I've ever encountered.

Hey Craig. No I didn't actually. this river is great for spotting and casting to trout too. This guy was sitting in the fast water right up the top so I put a couple of "Blind casts" up into it and Bam!
