Fly fishing the Driftless Region in Wisconsin during the winter can be tough. But sticking with the grind can really make it worth it. I know I keep saying that , but it is really true. We started out our adventure on a tiny feeder stream just outside of Richland Center called Camp Creek. Camp Creek is a classic Driftless spring creek. During the spring and summer I would bet that it is absolutely amazing. But for my first time visiting this stream, winter conditions had the odds stacked against me. Even though things did not go as well as I thought, I had just enough time to scoot over to my plan B. Yet again another brand new stream just a few minutes up the road had the odds stacked up against me. Reads Creek is another spring creek but this one is in the Kickapoo watershed one valley over. We managed to really save the day with a cheeky dry fly bite and a solid fish on the nymph! Do not be afraid of winter folks! Get out and enjoy some winter silence.
