An incredible day spent Fly Fishing the Yellowstone River and Hellroaring Creek. Fable has it that where these two streams meet was Teddy Roosevelt's favorite fishing spot. The hike is a picturesque journey with mountain views, wildflowers and the awesomeness of the Yellowstone River as it cuts it's way through the canyon. The hike is tough, but the fly fishing is worth the effort. A personal best lifetime Cutthroat Trout could take your dry fly!

Was this a guided trip? With who? If so.

Thanks for watching. No...just self guided. I did the research and we did it as a DIY day trip. It is a long hike for a day trip. Tightlines

Great video. Did you fish that area before or after the deluge of 2022?

I leave tomorrow for a trip to Yellowstone. However it looks like thier is going to be a cold front. Does anyone have any tips for fishing in it.

I suggest stopping by one of the local fly shops in West Yellowstone and buying a few flies and getting some direction. Tightlines

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. How long did it take to get down to the river? I'll spend the Summer near the Park and wouldn't mind doing the same hike to fish the Yellowstone. Any tips would be appreciated.

I would plan on a full day if your going to hike and get alot of fishing in. Maybe an hour or 1 1/2 hours going down. The bear is coming out...maybe 2 hours. I don't remember exactly how long it took each way. I would say go down once flows have moderated from snow run off. Glad u liked the video! Tightlines

@@WildBlueDiscovery Thanks for your answer. One more question if I may. Did you hike upstream or downstream once you crossed the bridge?
@WildBlueDiscovery
@WildBlueDiscovery Год назад
@schmoonkie ..once you cross the bridge follow the trail downstream. Down to where Hellroaring and Yellowstone meet.

@@WildBlueDiscovery Thanks much. I'll give it a try this summer. I talked a friend into it as well. ( Would rather not do this alone. )

I did this hike alone back in 2010. The last 1/2 mile on the return hike after a full day of fishing is a bit of a challenge.
