These amazing people were my dad's best friends as I grew up in Kentucky. I'll never forget the constant jams and pickin n grinnin everywhere we could!! I remember them working on the graphics of those first two albums literally in the kitchen living rooms , front porch and side porch, you name it.I am a very blessed woman to have such a beautiful group of off the charts to grow up with and sing my heart out as a little girl. I have more respect for these men than they could ever know.... Bless you for making that possible my friends...I'm David Breeding's daughter and Pixie Burch was my best friend...Curtis' daughter. My life will never be the same without New grass Revival. Much love n peace!!

Cowan's amazing memoir about these NGR days and more is a must read. He was absolutely the voice of Newgrass. A giant.

As we drove into the parking lot that afternoon, a van was leaving from the back of the building that did a U turn and came to where we parked. It was they guys, They had been doing a sound check. I'd gotten to know Sam and Courtney during the summer of 71 when we worked many festivals together. This was the first time we'd seen each other in a while. We had a good visit and they went to get dinner. Thanks Thomas A. Adler for starting this segment with a shot of me in the audience.

@@sallygoodin6604 All roads led to Mole Lake, WI when Good bluegrass was on the docket, at one time. I saw Doc and Merle, NGR, host of others back in late 1970s.

Timed them. John's first "fly" was 26 seconds, the second 14. Not his best of all time but I challenge anyone to hold a note for 26 seconds. (He held one for 31 seconds on an out of print album call "Walnut Valley Spring Thing.")

My ex BIL grew pot for decades and swore it grew more robust when he left a CD player in his grow room and tuned into the New Grass Survival.

I really feel for younger folks that never had the privilege of seeing NGR live. I have never seen a band generate such energy! If you're fortunate enough to have seen them you know what I am talking about.
