Nice looking fly. I've got a bunch of left over moose mane quills from some purple haze's I've tied in the tips as tailing. I will have to try this one. Tight lines
Good looking pattern Jim. I am planning a few trips to N. C. this year and try my Luck Fly Fishing for Rainbow. I have never fished for Rainbow or Trout of any kind. I'm gonna tie some flies before the trip, but don't know what size hooks to order. What size hook do I need to tie some fly's with? Thanks
Hi Mike I would tie some 14 - 16 Caddis 14 - 16 Griffith's Gnat 14 - 16 Parachute Adams 14 - -16 Prince Nymph 14 - 16 Hare's Ear 14 - 16 Higa's SOS 12- 3xl Stonefly Nymph Depending what time of year you could tie 14 Sulpher Parachute 14 Light Cahill. 16 - 18 Blue wing Olive. @@TheFlymanJim thanks a lot Jim, that will point me in the right direction. I'm not real sure when I'm gonna go with this Virus going around. I was planning to make my first trip this May. But, with the Virus thing, I have decided to go in October. I found a Cabin to rent and the owner said, he would give me a good rate for a month's stay. So, instead of making 3 or 4 trips I've almost decided to just make one trip from mid October to mid November. I was told in the Fall is when the Big Trout come out of hiding. I don't know anything about Trout fishing, but I'm willing to learn. Thanks a lot for your help. Any other advice would be GREATLY APPRIACTED!!!...
@@mikewalters4994 For fall trout you'll be concentrating on nymphs. The trout will be spawning so a larger streamer fished just off the bottom works well. They will hit it on instinct and protecting thier nests. But still watch out for rising fish, even the big ones.
