Another stellar tutorial. I'm chomping at the bit to give this a tie. Awesome Gunnar. Thank you for sharing your techniques and insight.

No problem man! This is without a doubt the best casting "large" streamer I tie. Drives bass, trout, and pike nuts and casts like butter on a 6 wt. If you give it a try let me know how it does for you!

I am a beginner fly tier so they did not come out as pretty as yours, but the tail kicking action is absolutely amazing. I fished it on full floating line in Bahamas while on cruise vacation and barracudas loved it too much. Can't wait to use it back home in midwest once the winter is over.

You give excellent instruction. I am just now starting to tie. I just my first vice this week and still waiting in some of my tools and materials. I am starting with crappie jigs because I don’t use a fly rod. So I am very interested in what your teaching that I can apply to my jigs. Thanks so much. By the time I am you age maybe I will be as good as you are. I am only 63. So have a long ways to go to get where you are. Lol

Wow, great fly pattern. I've tied really small flies all my life and I'm really getting excited about tying some big flies.thank you for showing your techniques and getting me inspired. I've caught some incredibly large brown trout on tiny flies, but since I've gotten old my eyesight isn't what it used to be. I'm looking forward to catching big browns on some big flies!

Awesome to hear Ron! Best of luck man, I hope the flies fool some big browns for you! Tight lines and God Bless.

I just tied one up last night. I didn't have any buck tail so I used SF fibers cut into quarters lol.

Hello Gunner, Thanks for the in depth instructions. I watched your other video that you referred to and you are correct. It left me wanting more. I watch a lot of videos on tying and yours is one of the best. I find the speedy time lapse videos leave out a lot of crucial instruction. the only part that I was not completely sure about was the hook sizes. In the beginning you correct yourself from #1 to #2, and later when you load the front hook you said it was a #2/O. Can you confirm that you are going from #2 to #2/0? By the way, I really love the fly. I am out in California. I like to fish for just about any species. Mostly trout on streams, but occasionally some bass, and Tuna starting in June. Have you done Tuna, and if so what's your favorite bait fish pattern? Todd Nelsen

@Gunnar_Brammer 7 лет назад
Hey Todd, Thank you for the kind words man, I really appreciate that you have enjoyed the channel. You are correct that the rear hook is a #2 and Front hook is a 2/0. But I swap hooks often. A #1 Partridge Attitude Streamer Hook in the rear won't detract from the action at all, or swapping the 2/0 Attitude Streamer up front for a thicker wire 1/0 such as the Ahrex Trout Predator, Predator Stinger, or Gami B10s works equally as well. I have never had the opportunity to fish for Tuna, but I am a huge fan of Bob Popovics techniques and patterns, my favorite being extended body bucktail deceivers and bulkheads - to my knowledge, the patterns are designed for East Cost Striper fishing but work equally as well as pike/musky/bass flies and I'm sure would fit the bill for some Pacific forage imitations. Well worth checking out.

I know you did this years ago but I will ask anyway. Have you since done this with a tear mender head ? Would tear mender make it too dense up front and not achieve the results you are looking for ? The tear mender heads are incredibly durable. Thanks.

Do you think making a complex twist with shlapen and uv polar chenille would be better than just the uv polor chenille??👍

Do you happen to have a video link for a articulated frog that you could throw on a spinning outfit. I know your into mostly flys. But I thought you might have a frog bass jig you could throw in weeds. Top water version.

Hmmm. What about a flymen fishing fish mask instead of resin...
@Gunnar_Brammer
@Gunnar_Brammer 7 лет назад
The purpose behind the resin head to to create a thinner head profile allow the head to act as a sail deflecting laterally in the current. Fishmasks are great products, but the rounder dimensions reduce this effect. If you decide to add the fishmask, I encourage you to either leave the butts in from the craft fur to help fill up the mack and push some water behind the head or add a stack of dubbing to the head to increase the bulk - this will help the tail kick more and function more in the articulating style of fly.
