This is a quick supplemental video about Mallard Flank feathers. The Mallard Flank used to make matched wings for various flies is different from the bags of Mallard Flank you purchase at the fly shop. This video talks about some of the differences of the Bronze Mallard Flank as well as the Gray Mallard Flank and the "Mallard Flank" bags you buy at the fly shop. I also share my process for sorting the Mallard flank so when it is needed it is already sorted and prepped for use. - Enjoy

Those loose, bulk packs of mallard or partridge are often disappointing.

James, disappointing from the perspective of wet fly wings. They work very well for a number of other nymph and streamer patterns. Glad you like the video. Thanks for the feedback. - Ian Anderson

@@DressedIrons well, I fish quite a few Yorkshire style soft hackle flies with good results, even during a hatch. I'm always interested in seeing how other folks tie these flies, so you could think about tying these old patterns. Thanks!

@@comesahorseman thanks for passing that on. I have done a number of video on some of the older North Country flies. It wasn't until I was tying them that I discovers a whole subset of "Yorkshire" flies. They are great fun. I will plan on doing some more. - Ian Anderson
