It’s from spawn. Simi seal. I think it was the „chum fry“ color.

Great fly. I have been using your patterns here on the Gulf Coast with success for redfish. They adapt well. Do you have something like the sandfly with weights like dumbbells or lead wire?

Snakesurf Custom Fishing Rods how cool to hear they adapt Well! Do you mean like a fly that rides hookpoint up and Will stand on the bottom when you let it sink or more like a fly that Will jig like crazy when stripping it in?

@@Coastfly Either way, they both have there place. We cast to shallow grass edges where they feed and then sometimes to the edge of a flat or oyster reef where it drops off. I usually want the hook up (dumbbell on outside of shank) but with lead wire it will settle hook down mostly without some kind of wing. Redfish aggressively feed off the bottom with their tail up and out of the water, so getting the fly on the bottom is desired even in shallow water 4 to 6 inches (10.16cm-15.24cm).

@@snakesurfcustomfishingrods5821 So, two things come to mind.... You can tie in some dumbell eyes just in front of the simi seal dubbing and then dub the craft fur brush in front of the dumbell eyes. You may have to dub a shorter length to make room for the dumbell eyes. Unless the dumbell eyes are huge, the craft fur head should cover them nicely. The second idea is to use a "ribbed tungsten scud body". Tie one in just in front of the tail and then use the simi seal dubbing right over the tungsten weight. Then tie in the head as described in the video.

@@coreytohme9861 What I was thinking was some very small dumbbells that will turn the hook up and do just about what you described. Order: Tail on, small bit of flash, belly / dubbing, mount small dumbbell and Palmer in some SF blend in front of dumbbell.

Good fly tying skills, BUT totally ott and unnecessary, i can't see what's legendary about it to be honest. I could knock up the same pattern without all the fiddly work. 🤔😤🙄😩💤
