An upside down mayfly dry fly dun. This is an interesting pattern for those of you that have not tied wally wings before, they may look challenging but useing this method makes it easier.

Hi Barry! I have a question about the Wally Wing. They look amazing but are they durable?
@Thefeatherbender
@Thefeatherbender 6 лет назад
Hi Dan, They are as durable as they look! Its more the technique than the pattern with Wally wings. But I always say, if it makes a difference in inducing a take, does it matter if it results in a good fish and gets destroyed ? It only takes a few minutes to tie after all.

Thanks Barry, I expected as much, I tied up a couple just to try the technique. I live in a warm water fishery and usually fly fish for Smallmouth Bass. The bass are anything but subtle when they take a fly - none of the delicate sip of the trout, it is usually a smash and grab strike that will leave even a well tied Wulff looking abused and disheveled after a couple of fish. I like the upside down hook approach, it would be a good idea when fishing in the weeds. Cheers Barry, tight lines! Hank
