Thanks to you and your Bling Midge.. Today caught one of my best Bows on Top 100 stream here in NorthEast. Originally, I was looking for Al's Rat Recipes...in the process, came to your Bling Midge. Being a low level , intermediate tier, committed to learning midge patterns, it clicked for me...and today such a thrill to get an eat from a trout I will always remember. REALLY appreciate ALL of your work & content at FFF. 🍻

I’ve been tying these for years using rod wrap. It makes an amazing segmented body.

Love it, did time on the Juan. The name that will not be named. He seriously hides the original materials. Ya I went to the craft store. HAHAH Awesome.

Original Yong flash by Andy Kim at least around in late 80's when I fished with him and bought his flies. He is still guiding and slaying fish on the San Juan, NM

I’ll give it a whirl, I was tying midges anyways! Do you ever weight these? How big of a tungsten bead?
@FlyFishFood
@FlyFishFood 2 года назад
tiny bead on this one. Maybe not even worth putting on the hook, but a 1.5 to 2mm would work.
@slimandlean

@@FlyFishFood the 1.5m looks good, thanks

is it better to use bigger flies if all the fish seem inactive at a cold lake? (non trout)

if you google the name of the species you're fishing for & add "stillwater flies" to the end, it should give you some results

Could this be weighted and fished Euro style? Thank you.
@jackmcmanus1238
@jackmcmanus1238 2 года назад
I don’t see why not. Also you could tie a 4-5 inch dropper and any larger euro nymph would have no problem getting it down.
@davidhanni208
@davidhanni208 2 года назад
Make it your dropper and fish with a 3.0 mm bottom fly
@slimandlean
@slimandlean 2 года назад
@@davidhanni208 this is good! Also a 1.5m on a top fly but have that top fly a little closer to the bottom fly, kills it too 🤙
