Wow, that's a fly even I could tie! Great fly for going deep.

Love this fly! I've used it on rivers in Idaho and and at Strawberry reservoir this past fall and had success at both places. Great pattern, thanks for sharing it.

I just got my order from you guys with the material to tie this fly. Tied a bunch last night and fished it today and crushed 6 good browns.

I fished this on the swing with a Fl. orange bead-head and landed 5 stocked Brookies in a row until I lost it on the bottom! Tying up more today. I also have the regular size chinelle, but I just trim it down to size after the fly is tied. Thanks for sharing!

Not necessarily a beginner flyfisher, at least for warmwater fish, but I certainly still consider myself very much a novice when it comes to trout. Also, just tied my very 1st fly (yep, the jigged euro sreamer) with materials purchased from you all. Plan to fish it next weekend. Is this how the fly tying addiction starts? Well, I’m “hooked”. (Drum roll) Nope, won’t quit my day job for stand-up. Thanks for all of the great videos and recipes. I look forward to learning so much more. Thanks!

I tie a similar pattern with straggle string olive and black twisted on the body and mixed olive and black ostrich herls for the tail. Killer pattern in Stillwater under an indicator !

These have been a staple in the southeast for years. Pat Weiss can suck it. With that specific chenille, it’s a pain in the ass to add hackle and get it to lay down proper so that’s likely why these are tied without hackle. The larger articulates that use the polar chenille are often tied sans hackle as well. These work great in olive as well. Since this video came out, everyone seems to be sold out of the black in medium. Thanks FFF for your trendy content.

These jig streamers (and other colors) have been big fish magnets the past 2 years. Caught my PB 8 times so far on them. I like to tie them in the Chili Pepper variety. Drift em, Jig em, or Strip em, they get vicious strikes.

No, not at all. We use a variety of hooks and Fireholes are one of them.

Nope. We tie on all the hooks that we have on the shelf, so each brand gets a little bit of playing time. That being said, Hanak is definitely a premium hook!!

Can you explain a bit how going into the bend is resulting in less fouling? I love to euronymph with streamers and this is interesting for me. Thanks
@unionse7en
@unionse7en 4 года назад
imagine if the final tie in point could be "downstream" of the hook bend...it would hardly ever foul ;-) , so he is tying in as far back as he can vs appearance, a compromise. BTW ever since your video that clearly explains "pinch wrap" my life has been easier Oholi..thanks!

there is absolutely no UV showing when you hit them with the UV light.....you are correct
@theheronknowsprimewater1035
@theheronknowsprimewater1035 2 года назад
I'm kind of confused about UV materials. I thought stuff that makes UV light visible to humans would be called fluorescent. But if something reflects UV light without changing it we wouldn't be able to see that even with a UV torch. But it seems like people mostly expect UV materials to shine brightly under a UV torch. Can you umm shed any light on this matter?

What does Lance mean when he says it fouls less by tying down the tail farther down the hook bend?
@sdbassin1143
@sdbassin1143 2 года назад
No exactly sure… But I do agree with Biden; “Let’s go Brandon, I agree”- Joe Biden
@teledunc
@teledunc 2 года назад
He means when the tail gets wrapped around the hook. It fouls less when you tie it closer to the end of the bend because usually the tail won’t flip all the way forward toward the bead/eye, but it will frequently flip up/down as it is being stripped or when you are casting.

What size of monofilament or fuorocarbon is used with this streamer ?
@phoult37
@phoult37 5 лет назад
I fish my jig streamers with 6 or 8lb flouro tippet
@FlyFishFood
@FlyFishFood 5 лет назад
3 or 4X will be fine. The thinner it is, the easier it will penetrate the water.
@Lanceeganflyfishing
@Lanceeganflyfishing 5 лет назад
Fluorocarbon is monofilament. But to answer what you mean to ask...usually 5x.
@phoult37
@phoult37 5 лет назад
@@Lanceeganflyfishing Respectfully Superfly, you are incorrect. Fluorocarbon is a completely different material from monofilament. It naturally sinks and has a smaller diameter/breaking strength. Mono naturally floats and has a thicker diameter at comparable breaking strength. Perhaps you are thinking of nylon tippet, which is similar to mono.
@Lanceeganflyfishing
@Lanceeganflyfishing 5 лет назад
Pat is thank you for keeping it respectful. That is a lost art online these days. Unfortunately, you have it incorrect. The two materials are fluorocarbon and nylon. Both are monofilament. Mono-filament means single strand. Nothing more. Tippets are made from fluorocarbon or nylon and on rare occasions a hybrid of the two. All are monofilament. I will agree that many angling folks incorrectly differentiate the two materials as fluorocarbon and “monofilament”, by which they mean nylon, but lots of people getting it wrong still doesn’t make it correct. Also, it’s too general of a statement to say that fluorocarbon has a smaller diameter/breaking strength than nylon. Both materials have high and low quality materials available so you’d have to be comparing specific brands and sizes to conclude that one is superior to the other. Fluorocarbon is slightly more dense than nylon, and generally speaking it is more abrasion resistant, but not always. Happy angling with whichever material you choose to use.

Hmmm....jigs have been around for years on a spinning rod setup. Not sure how this is anything new. Looks like crappie jigs. Easier to cast and fish on a spin setup. Flyfishing has become more conventional in recent years.
@phoult37
@phoult37 4 года назад
Where I'd disagree is the euro nymphing element. A 10 ft rod with a long leader will allow the fly to be jigged slower and stay in the strike zone longer than if it were fished on a spin setup. I'm talking about river fishing of course.

Ya...guess thats a “touchy” subject like indicator vs bobber vs naked nymphing or swinging flies. Different strokes fer different folks. Whatever gives each their own fish catching climax👌🏻😁

@@phoult37 Plenty of 10ft spinning rods if one prefers that route. The euro rig works great on spinning gear.
