The SNJ-5 was a popular aircraft among many military organizations as it provided a complex platform for more advanced training and missions. It was in service from the 1940's until well into the latter half of the century. Now, only several hundred remain airworthy around the world and can be commonly found in museums for their contribution to aviation history.

Dakota I enjoyed this show. Thank you so much. I grew up with these planes called Harverds if I'm correct. They were orange and silver with a distinctive sound, flying over Hermanus near Cape town 🇿🇦. Always in a squadron to my joy as a little boy. Dakota I miss you on the boat, please take care and have a good one. Cheers Cape town.🇿🇦🇺🇲👌

Very interesting story behind this aircraft, especially the Cuban. My father flew B29's as a navigator/bombardier and later a pilot after WWII. I never was a pilot although I had the desire. Life got in the way. I love this warbird. Thanks, Dakota, for finding her and bringing her story to us. Maybe see you at a Commemorative Air Force air show someday.

That was good. Please continue to minimize the soundtrack... I prefer to hear the engines😊 also, for the next one, pse add vids of the plane starting up as viewed from the ground, with propeller noise, smoke from the exhausts and anything else for atmosphere 😊

Please thank CK for the flight. Another excellent aircraft review. Well done Dakota on another great flight, this time in such an iconic WWII trainer. We’re very lucky to have you. You didn’t mention whether you got a chance to do some aerobatics? That would’ve been a real bonus. We’re also lucky to have a number of these wonderful aircraft. Perhaps you may one day visit us in AUS and get to see how many historic warbirds we have still flying. Cheers from Downunder, Tez 💋👍🇦🇺

Out of South Africa. These trainers have such a distinct drone to them and when you have 3 or 4 flying in unison there's nothing that will beat that sound. We still get the occasional spoil over northern Johannesburg when they host airshows out of Swartkops airforce base outside Pretoria. Stunning episode Dakota, well done.

I'm not very experienced, about 90 hours in SEL planes. Up until my wife got me an hour in an AT6, up till then the biggest I had controlled was a Cessna 182 which was a nice plane. The AT6 was amazingly heavy and very stable in all phases. Flew it in the Shenandoah river valley of Virginia on a really nice day. Very memorable. Enjoyed the video and especially the history of that particular plane.

Great video of a great aircraft. My dad was a flight instructor and flew at least 5 SNJ5s many times within numbers 43730 to 43740 mostly at NAS Pensacola. He flew tons of them within 100 of those numbers. Just finished looking through his flight logs. Was hoping to find 43732. Close but no cigar.

I have always remembered the t-6 texan. when i was approaching 10 years old (1956) my sister was dating an air force student pilot. Our house was in an "off limits" area but early one morning we all heard this loud noise, we looked out the back door of the house and all we could see was the bottom of the plane as he pulled up to buzz our house. He got low enough that the prop wash twisted our tv antenna up. I remember my mom was not a happy camper.
