@@charisma-hornum-fries Public transportation isn't really a thing in many parts of the USA. In the middle of big cities, it works, but in the suburbs you need a vehicle to get around. Most of the USA is rural.
Fair play to you Noel, from your career in IT to taking a punt on SCAT airlines and starting a RU-vid channel to the life you’ve created for you family now. Inspiring 👏👏
I've been to that Buc ee's before, last I heard it had the World's biggest car wash.. My closest Buc ee's which is New Braunfels was the world biggest convenience store until a couple of months ago until they opened a bigger bu cees in TN.
Can’t believe you didn’t talk about the main thing which makes Bucees stand out from the rest besides the cheap gas.. The CLEANEST bathrooms, of which they advertise 100miles out with “you can hold it” signs! Surely should of been a loo review opportunity 🤣
Great video. I’m reliving my stint in Colorado. A friend made a smoker from an old military engine case and it was the best I’ve ever had. Might want to wear a helmet on that scooter! I’ve fallen off mine enough times to tell me it’s a necessity.
Talk about laugh flying to grab breakfast. What a magnificent day to fly This is the first of your piloting vlogs Ive seen as Ive only just subscribed and I love it Can't wait to see your flying experiences Noel Happy Landings
Welcome to Texas Noel.... You will find that no matter if you are in a plane, rocket, tank or whatever.... everything takes a backseat to a pickup truck!!!!!
Great video, Noel! You would have had an excellent opportunity to do a "Noel's Loo Review" at Buc-ees, given their reputation for the cleanest restrooms anywhere! On the other hand, the "cowboys" might not have appreciated your going inside the loo with a GoPro!! 🤣
Nice short flight to Houston Executive. No loo review needed at Buc -ee’s as they have the cleanest bathrooms anywhere. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Virginia native here - We went to Buccee's for the first time this summer with my wife's family from Lithuania - it was an experience! lol - Coming from florida, back to Virginia we hit the Bucee's in North Carolina, and WOW! CCCCCCCCCrazy! And to experience it with Lithuanians here for a summer holiday was even better! The looks on our faces as to how huge the palce was, but they sure were the cheapest gas around! (great food, too!!)
There is a place near me (here in Queensland, Australia) that does amazing Texas style smoked beef brisket and I agree that it is awesome food (given the choice between smoked beef brisket from this place or a good bit of steak at a comparable price point from a pub or something, I would choose the brisket every time)
Hooks Airport in Tomball? 20 years ago that whole area was COUNTRY. I did a LOT of work around there. It was all country 2 lane back roads. Now its all built up with a huge freeway going right through the area. And that's about 6 miles on a scooter that Buc-cee's lol.
Well, you should’ve come to the largest true buccees, here in New Braunfels, TX- next time head on over to our airport, also very close to the buccees.
Awesome video! You're having so much fun, and the views are amazing. My mouth watered watching you eat that brisket, so jealous. Texas has so many wonderful things like barbecue, TexMex food, etc. The next time I get back to Texas, I'm gonna indulge in some brisket. Never been to Buc'ees, gotta get there. All that jerky, OMG! Couldn't live there though. I hate hot weather, is why I live in da frozen tundra of Wisconsin. I can't imagine what you all are going through with the heat. But it looks like you're rocking it.
Buc-ees has made it to SC. I haven't gotten to go yet but I am planning on going. What a fun day. Be careful on your scooter. You are not required to wear a helmet? Thanks for the video.
Noel, I would love to see a video about your journey to getting your pilots licence. As a healthcare worker , working on the front line during covid, I realised that I didn't have any real hobbies other than cooking. It's my dream to get a PPL.
I believe this is how it originally was envisioned decades ago; everybody flying to their destinations more or less. There was also a youtuber who went to the Mac Donalds with his paramotor. I only miss the 'Loo Review".
That was COOL Noel on a hot day. Love the scooter and the novel idea for the video. BTW keep safe with scooter batteries as some brands have caused fires, but your scooter looks like a high quality one so hopefully no problems. Keep these great videos coming. Greeting from Oz.
Lithium ion batteries over a certain size aren’t even allowed on commercial jets as a passenger. I’ve tried to find guidance from the FAA for private aircraft.
That's the emptiest baggage compartment of a rental plane I've seen! (At my flight school, there was usually a small step-ladder, a milk crate with several quarts of oil, cleaning supplies, rags, the fuel strainer and fuel tank straw, a set of chocks, a tow bar, and a host of other miscellaneous nonsense.) Also, the place where I rent doesn't allow operations on grass (or otherwise non-paved) runways. 😔 Edit: I just got to the point in the video where Noel mentions his flight school has the same rules.
its very neat going in that store for the first time they have spread all over the southeast now not just texas one thing i would put on the video at the end or beginning if u plan to do these flying vlogs is "this video is edited for time and content" Premier one driver and several others got FISDO'ED by idiots on the internet. Claiming they didnt do clearing turns or called clear of a runway cause they ran the audio track before exiting that they were clear and the video showed them just starting to turn off
I prefer the Cirrus, without a doubt. Actually now I can't fly the 182 for a bit either as it was just damaged in an accident (all occupants OK). So looks like I'm back in the Cirrus soon anyway.
@@FlyWithNoelPhilips I did thank that you'd prefer the Cirrus but thought I'd ask anyway. What is the reasoning behind the club not allowing landing a grass strips? Hope you get the cirrus back on the line soon 👍
During my first visit to a filling station in the US, I said to the assistant that I couldn't work out how to put petrol in my tank. We had a bit of a communication problem!
Excellent stuff Noel! I loved the video! Also what source do you use for your music in your videos and what’s the song title at the beginning of the video! 😁 Always love seeing you fly especially that gorgeous Cessna 182 Skylane! Also FLYING TO BUC-EES does it get any more Texas vibe or cool! 😎 🤩 I love Buc-ee’s especially the bucee beaver 🦫 😂🎉 Also since I visited my first Buc-ee’s ever a few months ago I can agree with that, I mean you know it’s big but you truly have to see one to believe it! 😮 Can’t wait to visit Houston someday and fly with you my friend! Cheers 🥂 Love it great stuff! 🎉✈️
@@FlyWithNoelPhilipsExcellent I love it and that C182 and the scooter looks epic too! Will you be at Oshkosh this year I’d guess so based on your shirt? 🤔 Hope to meet you there sometime! 😅
There’s probably an obvious answer to this, but why does it look like you’re using the wrong seatbelt? In the ceiling it looks like you should use the other one. Is there a reason for how it works? Does it matter?
Hello again, still going through your library and I have to say the music bed is an awful idea. Imagine having that playing when you're trying to listen to ATC while flying an RNAV. It adds nothing and just makes me want to find an alternative... But only after you get to Buc-ee's. You should get a helmet and a surfer-stance if you're going to haul-ass on that scooter. Cheers
Thank you it wasn't me. It was a guy renting it, nosegear collapsed and damaged the wing too. Occupants all OK but 8VA is out of action for some time now. Back to the SR20 I guess 😂
I’ll help you out since I know you are still working on your Texas accent….Buc-ees is actually pronounced Buck-ees. Book-ees are the guys that take your money at a horse racing track! 🤠
Why don't you drive down to the Texas City Buc-ee's so you can tour the refineries and sight of the Texas City explosion? Throw in an illegal game room, a gun shop, a western wear store and Whataburger's for a complete experience.
Working on it! It's been tough as I usually fly in the week while he's at school, and spend school hols at home with both kids. Planning on Sam being back in the vids again very soon.
Oh look a petrol station with 100 pumps. How very 1970s No idea why anyone in 2023 would buy a new pick up over an electric car like a model Y. I just dont get it
@@FlyWithNoelPhilips silly argument, 1/ it’s more like 250/300 miles in most modern electric cars, dont believe the media 2/ your bladder will give way long before the car needs charging, at which point a 20 min break results in a nearly fully charged car.
@@StefanWolves2013 yea, but some ppl just like trucks more. Plus I’m pretty sure that they can carry much more than any electric car can (or electric truck idk) And ppl have their own opinions about cars. (some like trucks more, some electric cars) So it’s fine if u like electric cars more, but ppl also like trucks too.
