Look up "scale" type planes and helicopters. It's amazing how realistic they get. Cockpits that open. Pilots that turn their heads and move the control stick. Drop mock bombs and fuel tanks. Landing gear that retracts with hatches thst open and close for them. It's crazy. You should also look up r/c turbine jets
The realism of some of those model jets is amazing. If there is nothing in the foreground to give it scale you can hardly tell if it is real or a model. One model jet when starting actually has smoke coming out of the starter while spinning up the main engine.
An RC built to look like a Star Wars snow speeder or a racer on Tatooine. 1st person view would look sooo cool! "Stay on target."....."I can't see him!"...."Porkins!!!"😁😁😁😎👍
Hoooly shit this is gonna make so many people's dreams come true. Imagine growing up with an obsessive love for ww2 fighters, then one day getting a model with a set of these...
@@mrbmp09Doesn’t take away from how awesome this is, though. Does it? Obviously, this person didn’t know this was possible before. Also, this technology is extremely modern. Those FPV goggles came out literally last year, pedant.
@@mrbmp09honestly did research just to see if you were one of those people who just want to ruin everyone's day whilst also lying about what you are talking about But alas it seems it may hold up to your claim since fat shark has been doing competitive pov racing equipment for a few years
They already did this with some movies. In one naval combat one (I forgot the name) they used it and it turned out really good. The only problem with it is that you can’t get that much detail with the build, but maybe that can change with 3D printers 🤷♂️
@@briananderson1246 are we just pretending that no-one in the younger generation has passions, skills, or hobbies. Are you feeling a little out of touch?
Best thing about RC is the plane body itself is very cheap. So if it crashes, the expensive hardware inside is rarely damaged if it has proper shock absorption.
Bud I just recently turned fifty and I still have them dreams😊 I would definitely want to learn to do this before what these young guys are doing with these drone races. If you haven't seen that it's worth checking out insane speeds.😮
This would get me into the hobby for sure. My main problem is that because im watching the plane from the ground, i have a tough time controlling it. This would make me feel like im actually piloting it, and it would make orientation and situational awareness much easier.
@@JustRememberWhoYoureWorkingFor then I'll take my goggles off and try my best. It would still be cool and easier, and what if the connection doesn't fail?
@@JustRememberWhoYoureWorkingForthis just happened to me ! Lost all my gear in a pond . Plane was in 6 pieces 🥲 but that was all pilot error and not aligning myself correctly to reap the benefits of the signal
@@skullfucker3381 So because you act like something is entirely new despite having viewed it before, that makes everyone a nerd, got it. Makes perfect sense... Seek help.
@@chrisknoblockme and some friends made custom planes like bf109s and YAK3s and put appropriate amounts of small, custom built and legal .22 machine guns in the wings, not in the nose because that would cause damage probably. And we flew them in a desert so nobody could possibly be hurt, unless a 22 pierced the 1” metal box we controlled everything out of. I’m not sure what I did with mine, it’s somewhere, full of bullet holes, but I can’t remember what box I put it Into the attic in. If I find it I’ll make a video of it and link it here
@@chrisknoblockairsoft guns are totally legal, and you can just canabalize the internals to fit it to the plane. Id be more worried about having to repair the plane every time.
Many years ago one of our guys had a camera in the model. It needed someone to hold the special receiver antenna. Suddenly all of us watching the display started swiveling our heads trying to understand the view. The pilot had lost control and we all plunged into the ground recoiling as if we were in the crash. Hysterical later but weirdly scary at the time 😊
You know, you might be on to something. Imagine your experience as an amusement park ride. The ride changes every time with corresponding actuators correlated to the video, lighting, breezes, etc. Could be a moneymaker.
@@allowmi sounds like a horror movie plot lol, people pay to experience fatal experiences for the thrill they're fine in the end since its all VR. but, eventually something starts going wrong and people start dying during the experience.
fun fact: there is this fluid in ear called "endolymph" that causes us to feel motion sickness. the person in video is not much moving so it isnt as bad as being actually in the plane. Only gotta control the visual effects to brain and hope that doesnt trigger the nausea. Edit: its in labyrinth section. And there are 2 types of motion sickness. One is space and another is terestial.
@@30pranaypawar17yeah but considering the camera is controlled by 2 servos and theres most likely a delay on the video compared to when you move your head, motion sickness would be really easy to get from a VR point of view. Suprised the dude didnt get any.
@@themasterofslime4391 turns out there are 2 types of motion sickness. One where the body sees surounding move but it isnt moving physically, also called terestial type. And vice versa is called as SMS or space type. Here the person sees the surrounding move but doesnt move physically relative to that. This person will experience terestial type. The thing of terestial type is, it ranges differently from person to person on level of nausea, and is 100 times less worse than the space type one. This person has good endurance to nausea symptoms that may occur due to terestial type motion sickness.
I was literally thinking the same thing; Why don't we start hooking Ukraine up with stuff like this? If, as Adam said, the jets can carry a considerable payload; Well Ukraine would just get some new toys ... LITERALLY! XD I'm not a "fan" of the conflict in general but I have a general predisposition towards wanting to see that zombie super-power get curb stomped by their former vassal state.
Love seeing that RCs are loved by all ages and isn't seen as just for kids. There's a lot of reasons people use RCs and not full size vehicles, not just price. And this right here makes it even more worth it. PC VR setups are a different experience and therefore not a replacement imo.
@@TheEgg185Nah man you can build yourself one for about 300 dollars provided you can make everything by yourself except the electronics. Dji fpv is expensive. You can have your own fpv setup for cheap using 5.8ghz transmitters and receivers
That actually exists already, resolution isnt amazing though. You are better off with a flight controller supply all that info to your goggles screen itself, functions like a HUD.
You get on screen display in your goggles now in most rc FPV ( first person view) On screen display ( osd) has battery levels alt.and airspeed from on board gps and over 50 other systems pretty standard with flight controllers . Quad copters , airplanes , cars , rc construction equipment, racing , aerobatic freestyle , whoop
Man, yours is a LOT cooler than my setup. I have a cheap Chinese foamer that I added a microcamera to where the cockpit is, just shaved off foam at the front to handle it, its a corsair because I LOVE warbirds and how they fly. Flies great, feels amazing to fly fpv in a plane.
It's nuts how far technology is flying. I could only imagine how useful this would be in an actual mini combat jet that could be used in place of actual fighter pilots. Crazy cool Idea
The fact the pilot can see from inside of the plane made it fly much more convincingly than RC planes usually do. There is no jerkiness on the flight path. The curves are wide and smooth. And the fly-by's are incredibly straight!
@@drutalero2962 Totally! If course it's not going to be instant.. may take several months, but doable. And the best of all all this can be built at home with of the shelf equipment.
Back when drones were coming out on the commercial market I had the idea to do something like this, but totally lacked the expertise to make it happen. So cool to see it happening now!
This is insane. I wanna see a RC dogfight championship or drone racing with ASMR FPV. Large scale aircraft. Each plane/drone has the FPV view to tune into and also the standard spectator view from wingtip / tail like F1.
@@ewthmatthyeah, Im thinking 2 cameras set eye distance apart. Left camera feeds left eye, right feeds right. Full 3D binocular vision. Same for hearing, left mic for left ear, right for right. That way you can hear exactly where its coming from. Look up “barbershop asmr” and put your headphones in
@@demeter-the-great , I got my single engine land ticket at 19. I kinda fell out of it 30+ years ago when my best man crashed a few days before my wedding. Money was also tight starting a new family. About 20 years ago I became a diabetic. Now I’m insulin dependent. Not all of my meds would be approved. The LSA and basic medical thing isn’t a good option either. If it could work, it would be prohibitively complicated and expensive. I don’t want to lie about anything, and I’m starting to have some issues. It sounds depressing, but I’m really blessed. Wouldn’t trade the family I have for anything, so I wouldn’t go back and do anything over again if it would jeopardize that. But realize and appreciate the special things that might not come again. There are perfect moments.
@@jimmorrison306 ahh I thought you meant flying RC planes was out of the question, that’s why I was confused. I thought you might have been disabled or something so couldn’t hold a controller, didn’t realize you were talking about actual planes. What’s a “land ticket?”
@@demeter-the-great , I’m calling a license a ticket. The license lasts forever. The medical is an exam you have performed by a doctor ever so often so that you can use your pilot’s license. The single engine land license means it’s for a single engine fixed wing aircraft. Almost all my time was in a Cessna 150. Also flew a 172 about 20 hours. Then I’ve got a few hour each in a Cessna 182, a Piper Archer, and a Piper Cherokee Six 300.
It makes me happy because we get to experience the first person perspective from aircraft that no longer have flying versions in the real world anymore
That is freakin awesome with that I wouldn’t be afraid of flying out of view and having better control and perception of the vehicle. I’ve never owned a RC plane but that has always been in my mind about this hobby
If you’d like. Search up DJI Air Unit fpv drone installations & you’ll get some hints & stuff or maybe finding a video on how to do it on a drone but try & repeat on a plane
I believe Andyrc did some videos on a very similar setup. Painless360 also has a really nice pan and tilt 3d print and may have videos on the setup. Just look up head tracking fpv and you'll find tons of info.
You also need a certain size of plane. I think at least a 4 foot wingspan before the cockpit is large enough to fit the camera and motion system. Although I did buy a servo recently that's a quarter the normal size. Cameras can't weigh that much...but I wonder if the servo is fast enough for seamless tracking.
@@fredstewartjr2196 FAA entered the chat almost 20 years ago when FPV started getting popular in the rc hobby and it's already been heavily restricted and now with RemoteID coming into effect literally this month FPV and normal rc flight is going to require a gps transponder as they are trying to give the skies to companies like Amazon and Google.
My dad and I flew rcs in the 70s when everything was built by mail order even some of the radios as well. If he was alive today, damn Skippy he would have this set up.
