I still dont understand. I dont see the rider do anything at all except for the occasional kick to the side. Can you please explain exactly what is going on with the aids like as if I was 3 years old please? Im desperate
The steps before the change are what teach the horse to do it. The horse needs to be able to move the shoulders to the outside- like a leg yield, before doing the change. If you get the horse prepared first, the change is pretty easy. My horse learning to move sideways off my leg. Also, push them with your leg to the new direction. Do not lean or pull them to the new direction. Hope that helps.
