Love the ease with which these videos work - no complicated instructions; down-home style, straight to the point and not a lot of blah blah blah at the beginning!

I purchased both of Eleanor's flying geese rulers because of YOUR GREAT VIDEO. Making a queen size quilt right now with big stars using 4 flying geese per block. Thank you for showing us how to use tools like these to make accurate sewing/cutting. I love all your videos and made many bed quilts from your fun videos. Next quilt is your double square block. I never get tired of seeing your lovely personality on the web.

Hi Jenny. Just a note to say to every one to use your white fabric to cut the larger square. I did it the other way and my geese are white instead of colored. Duh! Oh well.... I can still use them in something but this is such a quick way to do flying geese. Thanks for the tutorial.

Hi Jenny - Well let me say - when I saw this video (having just made a Canadian Flying Geese Quilt for a friend) I totally agree with you that it is labour intensive - thought so beautiful - but never again. Well I watched this video and you are amazing. I ordered the small and the large - they came and I decided to see how difficult it would be to do. Thought you might be exaggerating. YOU WERE NOT - YOU are SO AMAZING - they turned out beautiful and now I cannot wait to make more for my quilt.

It's now 2018, and wow time does fly. I just watched your "one seam flying geese, 2018" right before this video and you are just as great now as you were then. However, technology is so much better. I love the older iron, no large sewing machine plate, video quality, long arm in the background, and... You used pins and scissors! I watch a video every morning to get me going. Please continue to bring us the cutting edge (lol) tools and great new fabrics. Now, should I use my EB ruler or the one seam technique? Maybe some of both!

only difference would suggest adding a starter scrap to help with the threads when turning and some sandpaper dots under the ruler helps it to stay in place better....best part was the turning mat...now THAT would have made doing this really easy. thanks

Jenny - always the clearest instructions on the web. I have a different flying geese ruler - the Fons and Porter. Do you think I could adapt these instructions to that ruler? I think the one thing I would need would be the starting dimensions of the fabric. I tried it but my fabric was 6" and 5" - not quite right. What do you think about adapting to another ruler? Hate to have more than one for the same general function. Thank you! Susan

Great tutorial, thank you! When I'm quilting, I have the hardest time making sure I'm actually getting a good 1/4 inch seam. I always seem to be off. Could you do a tutorial on how to determine where 1/4 inch is on the sewing machine? Love your videos! Thank you for posting them!
@emcbabe
@emcbabe 2 года назад
This is the hardest for me as well. I cannot see the plate markings when the fabric is close to them, and the only guide is at the bottom of the plate! I also do not want to put any kind of tape on my machine to mark the measurement.. I have ended up using a quarter-inch foot. I have had less problems finding the markings on my old Singer Featherweight, but bought a new Janome 3160 in order to embroider. In many ways, the older machines are easier to use.

I get how to make the flying geese, but when you sew them together, there is no 1/4" seam allowance on the sides, so the side points get cut off. Am I seeing this correctly?
@BrokebutCreative
@BrokebutCreative 6 лет назад
Judy Ford due to the angle you'll still have a point because when you sew 1/4 inch seam on each side and then the 1/4 inch seam on the bottom it'll still create the points
