A fantastic weekend of flying at The Flying Legends Airshow at Church Fenton (Leeds East Airport) in 2023. Challenging weather for the pilots but wonderful flying!
Fantastic camera work! Thanks for the post. It's so nice to see an air show video and the camera person knows enough to slow down the shutter speed so the props look normal. Great collection of planes here.
When i see all those Spits flying together it gives me chills.. just beautiful. But, I also imagine them flying as 18 to 20 year olds heading off on a squadron scramble after being vectored to intercept 100+ bandits! Lest we Forget
I was stationed in England in the late 1980's and have been to Duxford several times at many different airshows there. Really glad to see the Flying Legends airshow continuing. England knows how to put on a warbird airshow. No horse crap airshow performers. Just warbirds. Bravo for the Flying Legends and the people who make that airshow possible.
Thank you Newton. It was an honor to serve. I put in 37 years with the Air Force. 21 active duty and 16 more as a civilian with the Air Force. I worked on the U-2’s while I was stationed at RAF Alconbury. My wife and I loved our tour of duty in England.

WHEN did Flying Legends suddenly decide to come up to Leeds? I used to go to Duxford regularly and that was the ideal venue for it because it had good wide approach roads (M11 yards away) and one of the best air museums in the UK on the site, including one of the best collections of airworthy warbirds operating out of the site. I gave up going when Flying Legends broke up with Duxford and went to Sywell because I've had bad experiences getting in and out of airshow venues with tiny access roads (ie, Fairford) and as far as I knew it was still being held there. If I had realised it had moved to Chruch Fenton I definitely would have gone. Thanks for taking so much quality footage, I don't feel so bad now about missing it.
It was well organised and access and exit from the site no problem at all. The flying display line is much better than Duxford as you can see from the super passes and unlimited airspace for big loops! The time went far too quickly! Looking forward to next year already.
It wasnt deployed in europe in great numbers and it took until the J and L model to iron out the main issues but it did very well in the Pacific theatre.
@@leviercosmicwind thanks same one as I use on my channel, your zoom in is fantastic with no shake. Maybe I need to experiment with the digital zoom a bit more.
Is there an email address for the airshow organisers? Perhaps we could politely request all the organisers of these airshows that the commentators only comment as an introduction to each display, and then STOP TALKING while it's on 😑
The trouble is it's a three hour practically non-stop display so finding gaps is difficult from their perspective. But I agree - they could certainly shut up more often...
I was there on Sunday. The commentary was actually really good, and it wasn't intrusive at all in person. They actually kept making a point of being quiet to that we could hear the aircraft.
I was attending on Saturday and standing just a few metres from one of the speakers. It was my first airshow and I found the commentators' historical and technical contributions useful. Impressive to see 8 Spitfires flying in formation and to witness World class pilots putting the old planes through their paces.
