Honestly I don´t get it why this channel doesn´t have several 100k views on all of your videos with this great chaps! This is so much more fascinating than most of the rather poor researched YT videos on various ac! Let alone the stupid videos about DCS, where people think they know as much as real pilots bc they play videogames! Keep up the great work, your interviews provide the greatest first hand insights for ac enthusiasts! BTW, if I may ask for a topic: Can you get a F-101A/C and/or a (C)F-101B pilot for an inerview? I always loved the century series, and I think the F-101 is underrated. There is so much about the RF-101 in ´Nam and the F-101´s competitors like the F-104, F-105 and F-106 (really loved your interview about that with Bruce Gordon), but information about the 101A/C fighterbomber and the 101B interceptor is very rare! If you are interested, I maybe can get you in contact with an Austrian army helicopter pilot who flew missions at the border to Slowenia during the beginning of the Yugoslav war in the early 1990´s. Greetings from Austria!

What an honor and privilege it was to fly the "Hun". The challenges of flying that impressive aircraft must have been exhilarating.

Another excellent piece and thankyou for introducing us to another fantastic person. I loved listening to Vic talk. Looking forward to seeing more from him in the future. I think it's safe to say he has enough for a Q&A at some point (hopefully?). Great work Mike.

My dad told me that same story about losing control and the importance of letting go of the stick which is so counter intuitive. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that lesson goes for life too.

Excellent! A genuine pleasure to listen to this humble but obviously superb Fighter Pilot. I've been learning more about the Hun lately, and frankly that necessity to fly using only the rudder at slow speed sounds damn frightening! Three nose over tail forward 'rolls' ??!!?? I think that I would be shaking like a leaf! Thank Both of You for Your Time! Cheers!

Wow…. This video pried loose a lot of memories. Reese AFB …. I was in ROTC at Texas Tech when that base was closed. It was a very sad day. I miss the years when there were bases all over the US. It helped small communities and it gave the military a way to disperse assets in case of attack. I used to live in Victorville and watched George AFB closed after the gulf war..

War stories are always entertaining. In 4th grade I started reading Bantam Publishing war biography's of german, japanese, british, polish, and of course American fighter Aces. I also read the stories from U-boat captains...who amazed me with the complete lack of sleep they dealt with while on patrol. The North african british commando raids were also inspiring.

Never flown any of them but well known for a long time the F-100 was pretty, but vicious, almost as much a widowmaker as the F-104. Being first has its problems, the Crusader went further faster on the same engine and the Hunter was a little slower but so much more friendly. I'll have to check out the rest of his media. Shoulda coulda woulda but in the end for how the USAF used the F-100 as a bomb truck they'd have been better off with the Navy FJ-4B/AF-1E Fury.

I hope you asked him about these 2 planes. or you didn't do ur home work. Two Republic F-105 Thunderchief aircraft, both single-seat D-models, were christened "Pussy Galore" and "Pussy Galore II" by Capt Victor "Vic" Vizcarra in 1965 and 1967. Both aircraft were lost during the Vietnam War. Pussy Galore I was shot down over Hanoi. Pussy Galore II was damaged in a ground accident in Taiwan and was a total write-off.
@Sturminfantrist
@Sturminfantrist 3 года назад
yep i missed that important part too because Pussy galore II is my favorite nose art og all times i love it and iam sure every Boom Operator too, Vizcarra created this nose art Pussy Galore II was a F-105D-31-RE , 354th TFS/355th TFW Takhli Thailand unfortunatly this Jet (nose Art) lasted only a few weeks ( in late 66) and was lost when Col. Robert Scott (former flying Tiger) and Commander of 355th saw the artwork and suffered a thundering apoplexy, the Painting was removed and life went on.

Jeez! Did the 38% accident losses mean 38% of all F-100s in active duty were lost in accidents, or that 38% of USAF accidental aircraft losses were F-100s?
