Yeah one flight attendant did get sucked out and killed and another was pretty severely injured but the pilot made excellent decisions and made it down with no more problems besides the second the roof ripped off.

Small correction: Although they were able to safely land in Kahului, the plane itself was facing towards a mountain during the approach

Also the pilot does not know when the landing is down or up so they sent a fireman to look at the geer and then the atc inform the pilot that thier gear is down

Now that you talked about this incident i would love to see a video about Japan Airlines flight 123. I think that is a very interesting incidident considering how long the pilots managed to have control over the plane after the decompression. Nice video btw

the material fatigue and corrison was due to the continuous island hops and the corrosive sea air... not enough inspections were done considering the amount of landings this plane was doing.

There is a theory out there, which claims that the whole roof section only came apart because of the flight attendance. Because normally, there are structures in place to stop holes from getting to big. But the theory goes, that the hole opened up, the structure worked and only a small hole opens. Sadly directly overhead the flight attendance. She get's sucked upwards and smashes through the hole, plucking it for a brief moment. That leads to the pressure to rise and to a huge section to fail, ripping the whole roof of.

Interesting theory, but I disagree, it was going to open up that far anyways because those tear straps of rivets you mentioned had cracks running right through them, rendering them useless to stop the tear they were designed for.

The story of this flight attendant reminds me of another that I have heard where somehow a flight attendant was sucked from the plane at roughly 24,000 feet but by some miracle her fall was broken by some trees and foliage. Although she was seriously injured, she lived to tell the tale.

I tell you something 1 aloha passenger was going to the plane when he/she noticed a crack in the plane (the plane fuselage is thinner than 2 credit cards) but he/she didn’t tell the flight crew at all cuz she/he thought they know that crack and would have a repair

I mean the 737 family has been under development since 1967 so I am sure that there is an issue with them. (especially the 737 Max). I recently flew Enter Air in a 737-800 and it felt as if it was falling apart. (The entire journey including waiting for things and baggage took over 8 hrs)
