Loree is amazing. There's some people you just get a vibe from that they would help elevate you to your best performance and she's one of them. Perfect for the leader of a crew aircraft. And also, come to think of it, where she gravitated to today with her coaching. I've always thought of the S-3 as an unsung hero... great to hear her thoughts and recollections... especially the P-3 shootdown! lol

This is amazing. Tripped over this video completely by accident. I had the privilege of serving with Loree (errr.... *Lieutenant Draude* LOL) when we were both with VS-29. My user name, in fact, is a decades-old reference to that job - I was an Aviation Electrician's Mate (AE), at the time on an (ostensibly) anti-submarine warfare platform. Her P-3 "kill" was the talk of the town for the entirety of that RIMPAC :-D I'm sure she wouldn't remember me from Adam after all these years... but Loree, if you ever happen to see this, AE2 Hanson says hello!

I hope we get to do a Q&A session with Loree. I grew up in Coronado where the “war hoover’s” engines were a common whooping sound. My best friends Dad was the Maintenance chief and later Maintenance Master Chief of VS-41. Years later a high school friend, Doug Carpenter was the last CO’s of a S-3 Squadron.

The war Hoover. I was an AW, senso for VS-21 in Japan back in the 90’s. So many great flights and memories. Going through the air crewman schools everyone wanted P3 orders but I wanted the S3. I thought it would be more exciting.

You are so right - all participating aircraft help to make naval aviation as effective as it is - the pointy ones may do some things, even very well, but they all need others to do things so they can do their job. Less "Top Gun" perhaps, but it's what keeps the carriers safe - along with the unseen and unsung Sub folk underneath. It is, as you say, a "team" so good on you and your "team". Communication - always something that needs to be done and which is usually a failure when things go wrong. Good interview - well done to you and yours.
