I really liked this because it felt way realer than the more popular travel vloggers because the video is not so edited and the quality is humbler - it feels like i'm right there with you. Authentic, brave stuff, keep going man!
@@marco3391 Yeah but with the ticket that's a thousand, and ain't no way I'm sleeping in hostels. I calculate about 4K a month, which is less than I pay a month here in America, but still that goes into equity not hotels which have no equity, idk spending money sucks. I been poor most my life so not that I have lots of money I hoard it. Something i gotta get over
@@DesignedInNola if savings are for anything, it’s travelling. Personally I feel I get the most value out of my money when I use my savings for travelling
You have to check out the Balkans!! Your money will go sooo much further, especially in Albania. Hostels can be around $10 with breakfast. Quick meals $1-3. Sit-down restaurants $5-10. Buses between cities $3-4 (Albanians are also super hospitable and hitchhiking is very common). I backpacked Europe for a few months and had the same financial dilemma with my plane ticket. I came back for family, but you should definitely extend your trip. I promise it's worth it. Depending on where you travel, it can be cheaper to backpack over there AND spend a thousand on a new plane ticket compared to gas/rent/food prices in America. Try to find the cheapest flight from anywhere in Europe back to the US and then book a budget airline/train/bus for the connection from your last destination.
I will take your word for it! I head out to Europe in 2 weeks for 6 months, I plan to stay with people through this site called Workaway to keep down expenses in the West then head out East
I wanna do so many places when I’m out of my apprenticeship next year. I can’t do proper backpacking this year so I’m going to take paid leave and go back to the Netherlands!
I have traveled to Europe many times. Always take an afternoon flight and take something to put you to sleep on the plane, my go to is tylenol PM. Wake up in a new country at like 9 am and hit the town. You will be good to go. I hit Paris last March at 9 am with a backpack and walked all over town.
I loved this video! I am about to head to Europe with almost the same destinations, so this video was so surreal. Also, have no plans really, and just going with it!
You actually have such a northern Italian face and look. I hope you enjoy Europe. Gonna try to get there I Sept. Check out Naples if you get a chance. Super vibrant and alive there, like as if ancient Rome was still around... Crazy cool place. Take care!
i have met some homeless foreigners in Hong Kong. they did exactly this and ended up being homeless. could not get enough money to leave the country. had to bag on the streets all filthy to get some money. the board he held said, "Lost all money cannot leave HK. need money for plane ticket." he stood there on the streets for MONTHS! im scared to do this when i heard his story
You need buncha accounting aka don't be dumb like real dumb. Always be prepared. And there's probably another mistake, can you guessed it? Yeah, that mistake is definitely a language barrier, had he been fluent in Cantonese in first place, at least he could work at restaurant washing dishes and get back to his Homeland with that money
@@tanne2743 yep, that's definitely one of the possibility. Telltale sign is the laptop he's using.. I don't even want to bring something that expensive on low income area like that
i've done something similar last year, only i was on my own, i flew to Vienna from Istanbul without any kind of a plan, no reservations for hotels, no return ticket or anything. it was summer so i slept in the parks, banks or wherever i could find lol. one day i was walking somewhere around the central train station and suddenly i was like why dont i go see Prague, went to the station and bought the first ticket to Prague, even though it was summer, the nights were a bit cold there but anyway it was still fun, only if there werent those addict pickpocket guys all around the station.. i almost got robbed lol but it was an experience, not happening again. bought a ticket to Berlin, got off the train in Dresden with a last minute decision, later went on. you dont have to stick to a plan this way, the plan has to stick to you. as someone who hates monotony, i felt the freest i have ever felt those days. it was like getting out of matrix, gonna do the same this summer
For some people macbook means not much, lol, we live in many worlds! PS: Just amazed at the difference in perspective, appreciate the adventure and the spirit
Reminds me of when I landed in Greece. Totally a fish out of water. Only thing in common was the currency. Two months there, moved to Italy (where I am now) just for the adventure. Going to work picking fruit and veggies, they pay 60 €/day. Not bad. Next : Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, France... Very cool, man. Truly inspiring. Safe travels! Regards from Reggio Calabria.
Hello, where are you now and how is your trip going? Do you have any other socials, maybe we could talk. I plan to do the same thing, to travel through Europe while working there (while living for a few months in each country) and I would love to hear about your experience!
Are you American? I'll be visiting Europe for the first time soon with a budget of about 5-7k. It would be awesome if I could stay there and work at the same time to really enjoy Europe. Are you happy working, do you stay at hostels?
hey alex! this was a really cool video to watch :) too bad that you're going back to the US soon because there's so much to explore in europe! i hope you'll get the chance to come back here some time; i am from austria but going to live in france from this august until summer next year - we could've met up somewhere if france was also on your travel list :) but when you come back to europe i'd love for you to reach out to me if you want! i want to travel to different countries too after this year in france, all around europe and i'd love to see america aswell! so i hope ur fine and things will work out the way you want them to. regards
Literally living the dreams! Switzerland 😍,I’m from Latvia(cheap country),I’ve been to Milan ,I didn’t like it there that much because there were SO MANY people and I was SO tired from that, but I literally laughed when you said: dollar and eighty euros 😂😂😂😂
6:10 Okay now this triggers me a lot. Have you ever had white wine before? Holy shit, you hold that glass like a bowl of cereal. xD I would instantly kick you guys out of my restaurant in Europe if I saw you doing that
Hey I’m Flo and I come from Switzerland like up in the mountains and I think your Journey is super cool and I hope u keep going and one day I’ll be able to do the same!!!( I hope ) :)
hey i was sitting next to u on ur first flight to jfk, u asked me for a pen lol. i thought u were cute but i was too scared to say anything💔 this is me shooting my shot 🫠
Be careful and stay safe please!! Europe is a weird, dangerous place right now with so much immigration, drugs, etc... take care of yourself! I always remember the two girls who were stabbed in their tent in the Atlas mountains... 😥
Europe is a continent, its extremely wrong to say europe is a „weird“ and „dangerous“ place, switzerland is one of the safest countries in the world for exmample.
He gets ad revenue, and money from sponsorship. Amongst other things. Rough estimate he makes the same as someone in a minimum wage job. Maybe less. Though can travel really cheaply if you want. I say kudos to him, and at 19 too.
Well if you're frugal, and can withstand some eyesore/smell like renting in a literally slump? maybe you can last 3 months with $9000 left in your pocket
I’ve been planning to do something like this but this video is an inspiration that I need to just go ahead and make it happen…mad respect 🫡 on actually chasing your dreams
