AGAIN with Khon Kaen? Whitest City in Isaan. I am an American living in a village in Maha Sarakham Province. First and only white guy here. No English, Everybody speaks Lao. I have an 11 rai organic farm here. I have a simple cottage for guests with electricity, toilet, fan, shower. Wanna go native? Comp you the cottage and take you on a market tour
@@samanfarm5310 Sounds nice! We're not in Isan anymore, but otherwise we would have paid a visit 😁 We also really like Khon Kaen though and it's also a good starting point for exploring Isan.
Welcome to Khon Kaen😊 I've enjoyed watching your vdos. You guys are brave...I don't eat insects. I'm from Khon Kaen. Not many foreign tourists visit here and make vdos. I'm so glade you guys are here. I own a Thai fusion restaurant not far from Kannakorn lake, by car though. I wish you could come to my restaurant.😉
Thank you very much! 😊 We really enjoyed our time in Khon Kaen. We're unfortunately not in Khon Kaen anymore, but your restaurant sounds great! Next time! 😋
You guys should visit Khao Suan Kwang zoo (Khao Suan Kwang District, Khon Kaen) and Khao Suan Kwang is also well known for grilled chicken. My favorite grilled chicken restaurant in Khao Suan Kwang is next to Government Savings Bank at the intersection to the zoo.
Thanks for clearing that up 😁 Yes, crickets are a great sustainable protein source and we've also tried protein bars made with crickets that were very tasty!
Yes, we also didn't know much about it before coming here and only 1% of people travelling to Thailand come here, which made us want to check it out even more 😁
Hi! Like you video! Isan food is very unique (especially the taste!). I recommend you to try local food in local restaurants or street food market. Lav is the one of my favorite! Let’s try Somtum or papaya salad ,which is original Isan Somtum. VERY DELICIOUS 😻💖 hope you two enjoy!
2:02 On the left hand side, you can see the buildings that are under construction in the future. When completed, there will be the tallest Skybar in the Northeast and there is also a glass bridge on the top of the building. It will open around June. Don't forget to visit.

Welcome to KK the landmark of northeast thailand, There is no sea or beach here, But we have dinosaur bones and spicy Isan food haha, Looks like in the past the area is full of forests and animals, But that was the age of the dinosaurs Today some areas are quite arid, The weather is SO HOT similar to the state of Arizona U.S.
I'm a local here in Khonkaen. I see you guys enjoy the night market, so can I suggest you night markets to visit. Tontaan market and Khonkaen walking street(open every Saturday)
Thanks for the recommendations! We unfortunately weren't in Khon Kaen on a weekend, but in our next video we also visit the Ruen Rom market, which was also nice.
Esan is my howntown, I studied in Khonkaen university. Place is not popular for foreigners, However, there are very good culture , foods etc. 1 of 3 population come from Esan.😊
A little bit of history about Isan: The Thai province of Isan used to part of the kingdom of Laos, there are more ethnic Laotian living in Isan (22 millions) than in Laos itself (8 millions), that's a sizable fraction of the total Thai population of 72 millions. French colonial power, having occupied Indochina in the 19th century, has arbitrarily redrawn national boundaries in agreement with Thai authorities at the time giving Thailand rule over the Isan province that used to belongs to Laos. But border dispute still arises between the two countries which came to blows in 1987. According to French map, the village of Ban Romklao near Phitsanulok belongs to Laos but the Thai used an American map which shows the village is within their territory, so they occupied the village but were driven out by a Laotian counter strike. Anybody's been there to check that out?
Seeing the slow life in Thailand This time I sit and watch the news of the war in Ukraine. They are living a difficult life. If I were the Prime Minister of Thailand I will accept all war refugees to live in Thailand. Sorry for this comment. But I hope the Russian invasion will end soon. We Thai people would like to send encouragement to all Ukrainian people.
I'm from Bangkok, born and raised and my favorite food growing up was "Namtok Mhoo" it's pretty much a "Larb mhoo" but instead of minced pork they use grilled pork and it super good. I was 30 year old when my wife scolded me for not eating all the herb in Larb or Namtok. but in my defense, I'm the only child and for 30 year I genuinely believe that those herb are for the look and smell and you puppose to eat only the meat and turn out I was wrong. and it actually really good eating those herbs together with the meat in Larb or Namtok.
