Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this RU-vid channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

MAJOR old school, 90's Disney World commercials, where the little girl is trying to close her suitcase, so she sits on it to finish zipping it. I wanted to be her SO bad when I was a little girl, and eventually I got to live out my dream of.... having difficulties zipping my suitcase closed, to go to Disney World.

yes Bulgaria has great nature i would really suggest you guys hike up/take the 4x4 up to orlovo oko(eagles eye) bulgarias capital city is i would say like any other eastern european capital city but check out Bulgarias nature, the Rhodope mountains hold so much wonder and mystery the very famous BABA Vanga etc, have a google i would suggest checking out bulgaria but in a hiking/mountains kind of way

From 04.30 until 00.30 everyday 28.500 trains, buses.ships(lakes),cablecars, mountain-trains,city-buses going from a to b all day long every railway station and city bus stations middle of the towns .... .the trains 98% on time I'm 48 years old and I don't have driver license because of trains and buses while you can go every where in Switzerland with them Switzerland is second country after Japan to much trains uses and for ALL buses ships and trains cablecars ticket you can buy from one app.......Or one ticket machine every station ! the app track all of them over GPS! 35.000 Swiss clocks is there .....on the stations !all work exactly same !

You need one of those smocks that you wear with all of the extra pockets. After you are on you take it off and it converts into a bag. 😂 Nate sure went all in on camera equipment for being such a tightwad. Reminds me of my Dad. 😆

My experience with luggage is that if you are wearing a reasonable size backpack while checking in or boarding, then the staff typically don't weigh the item because most people would have a reasonable amount of weight in something they are wearing. If the airlines offer a free check-in luggage service at the gate when the flight is full, I sometimes take advantage of it and transfer some items to my (now) check-in bag from a smaller carry-on that I take on the plane. This luggage typically gets high priority for takng off the plane and comes out first at luggage pick-up. It depends on my travel plans and time schedule whether or not I use the free offer but I do like not having to stow luggage on a crowded plane especially when boarding at the end of the line. When you use a backpack with an expandable top opening or front section, it creates a nice option for easily shifting items as you sometimes do.

I'm so glad u shared your secret. Some budget airlines are so stingy with their carry on weight. I wish international airlines would just agree to a common standard for weight of carry on and the budget airlines should just do what Ryanair does: charge for a carry on but give a standard/generous carryon weight. I've heard Ukrainian Airlines is notorious for their strictness, so glad the employees are getting lazy. I've also heard other airline employees probably believe if u can carry it on your back, it's probably not too heavy.

I work for the aerospace industry and I don't wanna be one of those guys but people don't realize how important it is to bring the only allowed weight on the aircraft think about it all of the other passengers are probably trying to do the same thing to a airplane is only allowed a maximum set of weight

Can't wait to see your Ukrainian series! I've been to Kyiv twice now for work but still took time to visit and explore a bit... It's so underrated.. The food is great, architecture is beautiful, amazing churches, nice parks, history, very affordable, etc... I didn't have any problem getting money out of the ATM though... And you can also exchange US$ or EUROs either at the airport or in the city... I'd love to see Lviv and Odessa...

I have this waterfoof jacket I ALWAYS wear when getting on flights. Bought it from Mountain Designs years ago. Doesn't stand out, just looks like a slightly-baggy waterproof jacket (goretex lined too!) And it has 13 pockets of various sizes. Including HUGE internal pockets on both sides (big enough for a small laptop. Typically all my heavy gear goes into the jacket's pockets (laptop+charger, 2 phones +chargers, tablet+charger, usb hub, usb chargers, camera batteries, travel adapter). If it's too hot to wear, I just zip/button up all the pockets, and carry it over my arm, pretend it doesn't weigh 5kg+ (which it usually does 😂). Never once had it questioned. 👍👍

My secret packing-trick is dropping the heavy stuff off in a locker while I go and check-in, and then come back and put it back in my bag before I go through security. Never had to re-weigh anything after check-in, thankfully.

You should try giving some chocolates or other goodies to your flight attendants. We love it when people give think of us and give us little goodies and *sometimes* you'll get an upgrade. Or usually theyll at least be super friendly. I always pick up some little goodies before heading to the airport if I'm flying as a passenger and I thought that was your plan at first!

Guys, do the Cailler Chocolate Factory tour when you can! There's an ALL YOU CAN EAT CHOCOLATE SAMPLING BUFFET at the end! Then they sell broken chocolate pieces by the pound at their store. Absolute heaven!!!

That thing in the entryway to your Air B&B looks like a model of Leonardo Da Vinci's helicopter design. It matches the Vitruvian Man on the other wall. I'm not sure who the bust is on the other wall. Might be Dante, with the laurels? But it could really be anyone. Such an interesting room. I really love watching your vlogs and getting to see the world vicariously through you guys. Hahaha for the tote bags. So what you could do that we dit is put computer and heavy but not wide stuff in a tote bag, put is as a backpack, put a vest on and put the real backpack or stuff things into pockets works well too

I have done this trick many times. I am a major bibliophile and most of the time I am returning home from my college state I have a ton of new books. So I carry them in my hand bag but due to 7 kilos limit, I put a few in a small carry bag but that bat consists of the heaviest books and hide it near my feet when getting the other hand bag weighed 🤣🤣

My husband and I went to Switzerland last year for the first time and we LOVED that exact same chocolate bar. And also the coop version! Hands down the best chocolate. I love your videos. You’re going to need to go back to Interlaken and Grindelwald.

Poor Kara, sleeping everywhere. Anyone who thinks your level of travel is easy, has never ever tried it. Fun fact, my family traveled through Europe using the Europe on $10 a Day book in 1965. The Europass wasn't part of that $10 a Day and Night Trains were included in the Europass. Since we were a family of four, we could occupy a second class room on a train without sharing. Yes, we could actually sleep. That and lots of fast food kept expenses down. I was 13, so I just know my parents were checking things to keep the costs down, so we could enjoy as long as possible in Europe!
