I LOVED the video of Nate & his grandfather. If absolutely no one watched, it was still absolutely worth it. And it’s a loss for those who skipped past it.
In my humble opinion, the video w Nate’s grandpa was your best one of the year. I’d be willing to bet that years from now, Nate, that trip with your grandpa will hold more space in your heart and memories than any of your other adventures! Cheers to 2024!
I also want to add, Nate, even though the video with your grandpa didn’t get as many views, I think it was the most special video. I’m so happy you recorded it and wanted to share that special time with us. I love all the videos on this channel but this one was so so special!! Even if it wasn’t the most popular it was absolutely the most emotional and heartwarming!!
You feel and are privileged to work your dream job, but you EARNED it through literal blood, sweat, and tears! You started with nothing and built something unique and special. Never feel guilty about anything. You are bringing joy to the world through your videos.
I’ve been a subscriber and dedicated follower for about 5 years now. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that you guys are just 2 regular people living out a dream. It was honestly so nice to see you both vulnerable and honest about your struggles. It’s a reminder to all of us that it’s okay to take a break! And it’s okay to be burned out and human! I love you guys!
Sharing difficulties is NOT complaining, especially how you two do it. It can be really really helpful for people who are struggling to hear other people’s struggles. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing even just a slice of those struggles in this video. It means a lot ❤
I agree sharing real life struggles is far more inspiring and real, than a no negative, highlight show that a lot of influencers merge into doing once they get big.
I honestly think slowing down a bit and taking time for yourself to relax a bit IS continuing to learn and grow! Self care is SO important! You two have seen and done some of the most incredible sights and experiences in the world, and slowing down a bit will help you to take time to process them and the feelings theyve evoked. Honestly I'm so proud of you guys for this decision.
Can I just say that Kara looks freaking stunning. She is the epitomy of 30s beauty. I'm 24 and thrilled for my 30s watching her just get more naturally beautiful by the year.
This may sound weird, but I am actually excited for you guys to slow down and get to have 6 weeks off! We can see how grateful you are for what you have been able to do! We as fans will always be here whether you post once a week or once a month! Everyone reaches a point in life where they have to take a break and slow down. Focus on what you guys both need! We will always be here ❤ You’ve given us nothing short of amazing content for YEARS!
Agreed! Towards the end of the year I was actually worried. Humans need rest, and it was obvious they weren't getting much just from the huge amount of content shared, here. Thanks for taking care of yourselves. Your channel is amazing and will continue to be as a result. ❤
Just because you’re RU-vidrs and subscribers are the reason you’re able to do these things doesn’t mean you aren’t humans that need rest. Even a the best travel experiences I’ve had have been exhausting. You guys deserve a little time off like everyone else ❤️
Not sure how anyone else feels, but your videos are now part of my “routine”. I get in a comfy chair, grab my favorite beverage and tune out the world for 32.5 minutes. Your channel is truly a “Channel”. Keep up the good work and remember, don’t try to make sure we are happy, we are thankful we are in the car. You inspire adventures and I have Tromso on the calendar this year.
It is locked into my weekend routine to watch Kara and Nate on sat/Sunday afternoons after lunch lol and if it’s not a new one then I’ll watch a bunch of random ones too! So good
You owe us nothing. Don’t feel guilty. You guys are rockstars. ENJOY YOUR BREAK and if you need more along the way.. TAKE THEM. You have to listen to your bodies. That should be your one singular goal this year.
The video with Nate’s grandpa was my absolute favorite video this year. I watched it by myself and then watched it again with my husband. He is such a cute grandpa, I love that Nate got to spend so many years with this wise man ❤
Kara’s face when you mentioned how many different beds you’ve slept in in 2023 hahahaha I FEEL YOU GIRL. Y’all are my hero’s! And what an amazing year you had. Cannot wait to see what actually ends up happening in 2024. Ps, a trip to LVIII better be on one of those sticky notes 😉😛😘😘 - Elay
I’m still a bit taken aback by your reaction to the silent yacht experience. I do t understand why you found it necessary to list everything you didn’t like about it. It’s a boat few people can afford to rent and you had the opportunity to live on it for a time rent free. Nobody thought it was a sailboat but your complaints seemed to center around the differences between it and a sailboat. I’m not sure why that was content you chose to produce?
Just because you have a wonderful job, doesn’t mean it’s not still work. Everyone deserves a break and rest. Especially such great people like you. We’d all much rather have an authentic, happy Kara and Nate, than a tired and unhappy Kara and Nate. This is going to be a great year and I can’t wait to see what you make!! ❤
Burn out is very real, people can experience it in many aspects of life, and the fact you recognized it and addressing it so that you can continue to do what you all love and are passionate about is absolutely amazing. And personally, yes this is a “travel” channel, but I’m here cause I love to watch yall just live your best life, whether its traveling or in the van or just having an adventure with friends or family doesn’t matter to me. I fell in love with this channel back in Van life, and personally wouldn’t mind seeing move videos at home or traveling the states, or just living your life. I guess what I’m saying is that your die hard fans that have been here for years aren’t going anywhere and just want to see you two live your best life no matter where it’s at, and hope you continue to bring us along for the ride! Much love and safe travels ❤️
Take your time. Don’t forget these were huge, long physical challenges you completed this year. That takes a lot out of you and sends you on an emotional rollercoaster. Adrenaline drops are real!
I can't believe the video of Nate and his grandpa had such low viewership, it was beautiful. Definitely made me cry reminiscing about fond memories of me with my grandpa 🥰
A couple things, the video with Nate and his grandpa had me in tears in the best way. Makes me think about my time with my grandpa and the stories I get to hear and how blessed we are to have amazing talks with our grandparents. The second thing I want to say is it isn't complaining when you are tired and worn down. No matter how amazing your lives are, you are allowed to feel over whelmed and exhausted. Don't ever feel like you can't feel those more negative feelings just because you get to do what you do. You have to be real with yourselves, like I see in all your videos. Don't stop being real! Y'all are awesome!
The best and the most emotional video was the one with Nate's Pop. I was crying in the end as it was one of the realest human conversations and it touched my heart.
I don’t watch every video. A lot of it has to do with interest. I don’t like videos where they are solely on a plane. I like the videos where they are exploring or otherwise going on a adventure.
I don’t have time to keep up with every video, unpopular opinion probably. Them posting less in 2024 will actually make it more sustainable for me too, and be easier for me to follow all of their adventures 🤗
@@yuliyanikiforets I have found a system where I only like the video once I’ve watched it so if I’ve been too busy to keep up I know which videos I missed! 😂
You deserve the break and don’t ever feel obligated to share anything. I would suggest to people to just maybe binge some of your old playlists. Enjoy the mental and physical break. 💥👏
I am so happy you guys are taking a much needed break, you guys have been going at it for a long time and haven't stopped...I am so happy for you guys and your success and being able to cut back and take breaks, I've been watching since I was 7 and I will be 16 this year I love you guys!!!
Decompressing the mind and soul is necessary, take it from a 57-year-old man who spent 28 years of his life in the U.S. Army. REST, Rinse, Repeat and you'll find yourselves more energetic both mentally and physically knowing you made a very smart and wise decision, with this new plan. Thanks, Kara and Nate for all the wonderful 2023 videos. Godspeed on your future endeavors.
This is what sets you apart in the youtube world. You guys are not provocative, you actually do the work, appreciate your followers and have zero ego. So refreshing. Safe travels ahead guys! p.s your video with your grandfather Nate, was super special. He is a wise, empathetic guy.
Charles and Alyssa left RU-vid a year for Thai reason! There are a few creators who can be set apart. Granted they are not a travel channel! But I couldn’t agree more! Everyone needs a break!
You guys are NOT complaining..no one does as much as you two…..please enjoy your time off…..you deserve it more than anyone I know. You guys are the best…..Happy New Year! I’m a 71 year old retired pastors wife…..I enjoy your videos so much…..love to both of you ❤️
As someone who has watched you pretty much from the beginning, I am very happy and proud of you for taking a 6 week break. You need it. In all honesty, I was worried about you during your last vlog during the Christmas festival tour. I could tell you were both worn out. You both do so much for us viewers, and you deserve to do what is best for you physically, mentally and emotionally.
I love that Kara and Nate dedicated an entire episode to Nate’s grandfather and would also give plenty of video time to Rick’s children. It shows just how much they value their families and friends and prioritize making them feel special, over what may or not be popular for their show. Really looking forward to a new year of creative ideas for fun and adventurous videos with these two! Be safe and have the best time out there! ❤
I agree completely. The videos with the families and their friends with families are some of my favorites. But like you have been watching for 5 years, so I can love these videos, because I love all the videos.
If you’re too tired and not having fun, then we’re not having fun watching. Take good care of yourselves and don’t worry, we’ll be here when you’re ready.
Please do not feel badly for needing to take breaks, we are human and breaks are needed. Personally I am not a fan of shorts at all, but that is just me. The video with your grandfather was one of my favorites and so heartwarming brought back so many many memories for me with my own grandparents. I love the personal challenges as they are inspirations. I also LOVE the 30+ min videos, for me 20 is too short, 25+ is the sweet spot. Enjoy your break and treat yourselves well.
I am SO proud of you both for prioritizing your mental health over views. It’s more than okay to take care of yourselves first. I’m looking forward to seeing your adventures in the coming year.
As one of your fans who loves your videos, I totally understand that you two have grown and it's time for you to do some other things for yourself, and not just for us. Your job never ends, your true fans will continue to be your fans no matter what! Almost all of the travel youtubers that I watch are all in times of your lives where they are either settling down buying houses or having a family of your own, we are going to watch your content no matter how often you post. ❤
This is the only channel I eagerly wait for new uploads. Honestly you guys taking a break makes me a bit sad but I think it's a great decision. I'll patiently wait for you guys as you've worked so so hard for showing us your world. Take care Kara and Nate!!!! Can't wait to see your videos whenever you come back. Its time to bingewatch your old videos!!
I recently listened to a podcast with Jenny Odell, author of How to Do Nothing, and I thought of her principles immediately when you discussed “cutting back” on videos. It’s a great book on how to be less productive and become more meaningfully connected and present, and I feel like y’all are channeling that this year. Thank you for this video wrap up and all the content you produce so we can travel the world with you- and we’ll still be here rooting you on!
You have lifelong fans in us! ❤ Burnout is real and we’re so happy you realize what you need and are making it happen! We can only imagine how much time and effort goes into each vlog and as incredible as it is to get to travel the world, it is your JOB. I’m the planner of our family and for our handful of trips that we take each year, there’s a lot of time and effort that goes into researching them. Can’t wait to go on all of your adventures this year!
@karaandnate you guys are amazing. I’m proud of you for realizing that you need to take care of your mental wellbeing in order to do and be the best you can be. Don’t apologize for less videos. You guys are the ones out there busting your rumps, we’re the ones living vicariously through you. Happy New Year! Enjoy the time off and I’ll watch your videos whenever they come out. Love yall! ❤
100000% most underrated video of the year was Nate and his grandpa's. so incredibly special and an amazing memory for both Nate and his grandpa to have.
I'm so glad you all took time off to recharge and spend time with family and friends. Self-care and relationships are so important! Thanks for sharing your adventures with all of us! You have inspired me to travel more.❤️
The video of camping with your grandfather was my favorite of all time and is destined to become a classic. Needs to be reposted on his birthday. He is such a good sport. At the top of the list of my favorites is your visit to Svalbard and your time with Cecelia. I loved the Husky Cafe and climbing the mountain in the cold dark.
The video of Nate and his grandpa was the most meaningful and touching videos of the year. It really hit a special place in my heart, because I had that relationship with my grams and she is no longer here. Watching you guys intact together, was like getting her back for just a bit, and I loved every second. It’s as another commenter mentioned, that one was for the truest of your fans. I am SO glad you took the time to film it, and allow us into that space with you. ❤️
Happiest of New Years Years guys!!! I apologize on behalf of everyone, that you felt that you NEEDED to post. Your best posts will be the ones you WANT to post. It will reflect in so many ways.... We love you guys and look forward to seeing all the amazing things you will achieve in 2024!!
your little break actually gave me a chance to catch up on 4 months of your videos and it has been the best ever. just getting around to finishing the 2023 videos and I got a notification that you posted again!
I love all your videos and totally understand the burn out! You are not the only RU-vidrs to feel it, talk about it or need to slow down and or take a break!! We get it and we will be here when you get back!! Rest up and enjoy your time off! Everyone needs time off!!
It is completely understandable and commendable that y'all are slowing a little. I'm so glad you're taking a real break now, too. Regardless of how awesome your job is, you're still human. Like Kara said, as your videos get longer and higher quality *there are still only seven days in a week*. You aren't, and shouldn't be, superhuman. Don't do miserable things. Keep this lifestyle sustainable. We love you guys!
I love this channel so much. Kinda special realizing I remember all these moments that they’re recalling. Thanks for being my distant internet friends Kara and Nate. You two are truly such a blessing to this platform and world!! May your 2024 be spectacular! 💜
We LOVED the video with Nate and his grandfather. Having each lost both of our parents and trying to piece together family history, what you saved was epic!
We think the episode with your grandfather and the episode at Lake Titicaca were turning points in your lives-so, so precious. And we are so glad you are giving yourselves a break. When Kara and Nate are happy, we’re happy!
Hey Kara and Nate, you dont owe us a video, dont feel guilty taking a break. remember most of the world have mandetory holiday you need to take out. you should do that as well because it is your job. Especially since your life is your job its important to give space.taking breaks is also good for the mind and for creativity. We viewers want to see you happy as well and satisfied with your work. anything else will shine through. i really wish you all the best and i hope you enjoy your break its so well deserved!
OK, while I really appreciate your humility and grateful hearts, what you give people like me (can't travel but would LOVE to) is huge. Cutting back to 3 fabulous videos a month is way better than crashing and burning and leaving us rewatching the old ones (which are fabulous and worth every minute). Seriously, just so happy you're willing to continue!! 🎉
This. I love living vicariously through these videos of places I can’t go, doing things I can’t do. And that bike trip series made me feel really lucky that I never worry I’ll be hit by a car and I get to bathe before bed every night 🤣
Thank you Kara & Nate for the magic that you worked so incredibly hard to create for us in 2023! I quietly watching your videos, and it brings a spark to my day/week whenever I watch your videos! Seeing South Africa on the calendar makes me BYEOND excited - I'm in SA, so I am wishing you the most amazing experience when you come visit here! Kara, if you need a list of amazing coffee places to visit, I will let you know! Here's to a year of physical & mental happiness, health and sustainability in 2024! :D
The only other RU-vid video I have ever commented on was the one with Nate and his grandfather. I loved that one and it’s a shame more people didn’t watch. You will treasure that forever. I wish I had a video like that with my grandparents to watch now that they’re gone.
The fact that you guys share your life of travel, and you lives, is such a gift to the rest of us! We are just happy for whatever you share. You should never feel guilty for taking a break or not posting. Your health and happiness are the first priority! What we get to see is a gift to us. My girls and I enjoy watching you two. Thanks for providing it for us. Also, thanks for sharing your struggles! You have a great job, but, like the rest of us, there are struggles. So thanks for the honesty. Have a great 2024!
The video with Nates Pop is hands down the best video you have made and probably would ever. The legacy video you have for yourselves and future generations is priceless and all the views in the world couldnt even touch thay value!
Honestly this is one of my favourite videos you guys do, I love hearing your reflections from the past year, and dreams for the upcoming year. I think as creators it’s so important to reflect on our work and life, It makes us appreciate it even more how much work has gone into the year. What I’m most excited about for you guys is your 6 week vacation!!( I mean time off, that’s what I call vacation) enjoy some Netflix (I’ve got lots of show recommendations if you need) . Because without that time off I guarantee you, the rest of your year will not be nearly as enjoyable if you are experiencing burnout. Think of it not just like recharging your battery, but like replacing the battery so it can hold a long charge and won’t drain as quickly. Alright , enough analogies. Love you guys!
I love all of the videos I’ve seen thus far (the past month or so). I don’t know how you guys do all of the traveling that you do. I feel like you guys don’t owe anybody anything. You guys just DO YOU. How can anyone criticize you!? Every second of video you share with us is a gift. To US. I love your longer videos, actually more than I like your shorter videos. Time just flies when I watch them! Thank you both so much for everything you do. Take care of yourselves FIRST. ❤️
I appreciate you being so candid and honest about your burnout. Don’t feel guilty, it okay to feel this after 8 years. It’s so important to understand your limits. listen to your mind, body and soul to preserve your mental health. Life is about quality, not quantity. You could always take a hiatus twice a year like network television does. Take care you two, see you in February!!
I just want to say that the video with Nate's grandpa was the sweetest video of this year and I cried. So the video that made me feel things the most: Nate's grandpa video! I loved it!! Thanks for sharing that with us :)
People who didn’t watch the video with Nate’s grandpa are missing out on some of the wisest advice!!!! I’ve been watching this channel for 5 years now and every year I’m learning so much more about the world!! Thank you for this year & happy ‘24… Please don’t feel guilty for taking a much needed break, Take all the time you need!!! 💜
I appreciate you both so much. I am pretty much a shut-in at age 80 which I did not expect. Ten years ago I went to China for four weeks and Thailand for the same. Also been to Ensenada in Baja MX and Israel on a tour. I'm living vicariously now thru your videos!
I thought the video with your grandfather was one of my favorites. Not having any grandparents it really touched me the genuine love and respect you have for each other. I will go watch it again to increase the views. That is how much I loved it! SIDE NOTE - not missing the shorts if they never come back :-)
Nate the video with your grandfather is the sweetest video, my favorite of the year. Not everyone's likes will be aligned but for those of us who just love seeing you guys emit joy in the moments YOU love, I think a vast amount of us seek those videos and cheer you guys on entirely. Enjoy your rest, excited for 2024 and all of your journeys that will come. Happy new year!
Nate and his grandpa made me cry. So so good and sweet. It is especially meaningful as Allie (of Trent and Allie) shocked us with this week's post "Saying Goodbye to my Mom". Time is limited for us all and it is so important to share it with your family and friends. P.S. So glad the shorts disappeared. I don't think you were the only ones who abandoned them quickly.
Welcome to your mid 30’s where rest is required!! Glad you’re taking some much needed time off. I loved the series of Christmas markets but it truly looked exhausting.
You two are so lucky that you have each other! Two adventurous souls with so much zest for life. There are so many people who want the norm marriage, kids, house, 9-5 routine job. I admire you two for breaking away from that! I wish I had a partner who has as much as a passion for traveling as I do
Guys, you give us all this content for free and you work SO hard to literally just GIVE to us. 100% take your break!!! You’ve given us so much already! You absolutely DO DESERVE your break :) enjoy it!!
You do realize that they are not doing it for us right? It's their passion and profession. They are earning money out of it. They aren't doing it for us.
@@meenakshisudhakarok2112right? It’s like saying someone plays professional football for us? They do it because they get paid. I don’t knock them for this we all gotta get paid…
Nate’s Grandpa was one of my favorites and I thoroughly enjoyed it because one day you won’t have that option & it’s great that you’re both compassionate & unselfish enough to realize that & that he has some really great memories and stories to tell. (A few really good ones about Nate growing up too, I bet!). If you didn’t watch that one, go back & watch it, you missed something wonderful that will make you appreciate everything you’ve got!! We only have so much time, use it wisely…..it goes faster, the older you get too! ❤
I’m still going through all your videos! I have a hard time finding ones I haven’t watched, but I know there out there! I like when you go to unknown places and live with the people! I learn so much! Be safe Kathy from Wisconsin ❤
Thank you for sharing all your experiences with us, I truly enjoy watching all of the videos, but I am also very happy that you are taking some time out for yourselves. I would hate to see you burn out from over doing things, you have always made me smile, and cringe the odd time during some of the challenges. I will continue to watch how ever many videos you post. I wish you both all the best, take care of yourselves.
Time spent with your grandfather is never wasted. Thanks for taking us along. This was a favorite. Wish I could have had a camera when I visited my grandfather. Thanks guys for the hard work. Look forward to watching more
Watching this video I realized I never watched the video of Nate with his Pop! It was too special for me to just watch whilst folding laundry & so I was saving it & then forgot. I just watched it and LOVED it! I am partial as I've been a caregiver most of my life. I love the elderly so much. Not enough people realize what a treasure their wisdom is! So precious!
When I first started watching you guys, I think you had around 70k subscribers. My daughter had just been born and I was stuck at home all the time, minding a sleeping baby. You were going through Russia on that massive train ride, stopping for noodle and potato cups, drinking your instant coffee... My daughter is turning 6 soon but I'm still watching. :)
A good stat from my side, i started watching your videos 5 years ago when i was preparing for my med school. Now i am my med school and i have started watching your videos again coz i have to prepare for other competitive exams and you guys always motivate me. So i just want to thank you guys
I absolutely loved the video of Nate and his grandfather!! It was from the heart and one that Nate will cherish for the rest of his life. I wish I had videos of my grandparents, especially my grandmother, what a treasure that would have been. Those that didn’t watch missed out, and that is their loss. Be well, and much love to you both and your families
It makes my heart happy when you both realize that you've recognized when the pitcher is empty and needs time to fill up again. 💖 Your bodies, and minds, need some mindfullness and rest from all the excitement. Us, your subscribers, wouldn't want anything less for you guys than to stay healthy and take care of yourselves! 🥰 We'll be fine, don't feel bad! 🤗 Have a WELL deserved BREAK, you two, and we'll see ya later!! ✨🥳🤗💖✨ And thank you so far for these 8 years of JOY!! 💖🤗💖
One thing I love about you guys, and why I am so glad I found your channel again, is that you are always so grateful and never selfish. It's just still really nice to have people out there still making videos and being grateful about having the best job. its nice to watch real videos.
I think what you guys need to realize is, yes, you're lucky to do what you do, but you worked hard and earned it. It wasn't given to you. Therefore, you're not privileged, you're reaping the rewards of the work that you've done and continue to do. Furthermore, you're going to have bad days. People that get to travel everywhere have bad days and bad experiences. I don't know about a lot of other viewers, but I want to see the bad stuff too. It's real. It's life. It's relatable.
Anyone who missed the Nate & Pop video GO WATCH IT NOW! Although I'll be sad to not have a weekly video, I completely support you guys in taking a much needed break!! We love you and know you love us but your mental health comes first! Can't wait to see what travel and stories you have in store for us this year!
We were created to have rest and rhythms. I’m so glad you guys are taking some time to establish new rhythms. I hope they serve you well! (And regarding the short videos, personally that felt like RU-vid pushing an agenda. You guys tell amazing stories, so just keep being who you are!)
Agree with all those who said they loved the video of Nate and Pop. Absolutely NO regrets about that one! Ten videos or fifty-two videos, those of us who have been around from the beginning are still going to be here, because some of us are still living and traveling vicariously through you guys. And you are still my favorite RU-vid couple (even though there are a lot of great people out there). Keep up the good work, and never be afraid to take time when you need it. Happy New Year!
From starting with daily vlogs to posting once a week you guys have truly pushed yourself over the years ❤ don't apologize for feeling like it's too much or your overwhelmed because you are just human and all of the people who follow you should understand that ❤ love you guys so much, you have changed my husband and I's life more than you could ever know! We hope you have a wonderful year!
I hope you read this comment Kara. You made the comments about not feeling "right" about making or posting a video about you being burnt out, having a "mental breakdown" or exhaustion. You are human. It doesn't matter the job you have; whether it's a dream job or not. What ypu two do is amazing but it's still a job. You work non-stop traveling, taking videos (which many don't see how much effort and time it takes in doing just that) and editing all the content. The people following you two are invested in you on different levels and showing people that it's normal to be burnt out or break down can show others that it happens to the best of us. It may make you more relatable. And if anyone wants to judge or criticize you for "whining" about how tired you are, they aren't happy with themselves to begin with. They'll complain about anything anyway. Trust that your loyal followers will understand that what you do is great but it's still hard. Keep it up and don't let others judgements dictate how you should show who you are.
Love that you’re going to try to take more time for yourselves without making videos. I will absolutely miss the weekly videos but your mental health is way more important. Much love and support 💜
1. The video with Nate and his Grandpa was my favorite of the year. Absolutely adorable. How did people skip that?! 2. I love the longer videos. 3. Don’t feel bad about needing a rest!
I love your channel and seeing the sneak preview! Good for you to reevaluate what will make this lifestyle sustainable for you both. Take the time you need! ❤
