Justin, as a retired ATC guy I can tell you that, even though they don’t tell you, those controllers really appreciate your professionalism and preparedness. It makes everyone’s job much easier. And this was another great video.
@@1littlelee You obviously don't know much about what goes on behind the scenes in aviation. Suggest you visit an approach control or an ARTCC and ask the controllers how they feel.
Great video! I like the longer format. If you have the opportunity with the 4k camera, do zoom in on changes to relevant controls. It will add a great understanding of how the manipulation of the controls impact the overall flight (altering heading bug and managing flight director). Another great video!
Awesome video Josh. Even though it's technically single pilot aircraft, you did a pretty awesome job as FO that I'm sure made Justin's job a whole lot easier. Is this the same King Air that you were in when we just missed each other by an hour or so in Asheville, TN?
Justin was just being polite. Single pilot ops become clunky and awkwardly slow when you have a young pilot in the right seat to deal with. It’s much faster and easier just to rip right through it solo. There’s nothing helpful about having to babysit, other than someone to talk to. But we’ve all been there and we owe it to help the next generation of pilots. ✌️
Flying an IFR plan at altitude is just a series of handoffs from ground to departure to Centers along the way to approach control to tower to ground. As long as you don’t have any problems, it’s no problem. Just stay ahead of the airplane. As a former USAF multi-engine pilot, I d like to recognize your excellent coordination and “living by the checklist”. Good job and many years of success ahead to both of you.
Justin, I love your videos! Always aspired to fly, however my military career has left me disabled. I still get to fly on my simulator at home though. Watching your videos are the next best thing to flying in my opinion. Keep up the great work Sir!
@@WindowLickingDeer I almost exclusively use MSFS 2020 now. It is by far the best simulator around now. Xplane just fell behind in quality, and their aircraft are too expensive. They had a good run for quite a while though, and I am glad they had set the bar for so long.
Thanks Josh for keeping the long version. PIC seems like a great pilot. The King Air is great aircraft but with with two engines and cost, I would opt for a jet or TBM. Thanks for sharing the part 91 flight.
LOVE the long format videos, Josh! Being able to sit "back seat" on the King Air, as especially in the R22 copter was an incredible thrill. Justin is an amazing pilot, and you 'flew' the right seat to perfection. Please do more. -Dave
I really enjoyed this video. The longer duration videos are great. I know how challenging it can be for you editing a 2+ hour multi-angle flight! The hard work is paying off, your videos are great!
Watched this with my wife, she said, “well of course they got a perfect KAXX landing day”. We full time out of Angel Fire, and a 13 knot crosswind is wonderful because it is so rare. I practiced dozens of crosswind landings in my Saratoga before I moved it full time to Angel Fire. I would say the average crosswind is typically 16G20. I am comfortable enough with crosswind landings there that 20G25 isn’t too extraordinary. Just got to plan for it and be ready to go around. Glad you guys had a nice, smooth day coming in.
30:24 Props not full forward in case of a go-around? I saw him stand up the levers right after touchdown. Is this a King Air thing or just a memory slip? I can't criticize because I've done it a time or two myself haha, more just curious than anything. Great videos, keep 'em coming!
Depends on KA model I believe, in most -200’s you would go props high on final. That is our company policy. But for passenger comfort you could wait until the point when he did it, as the noise would be less.
As always excellent video! As for the longer videos, I didn't care for the length of the city tour video. Just because it is something you've shown several times. But this video was perfect. It actually left me wanting more!
This reminds me of when I used to accompany my flight instructor on ferry trips. I got quite a bit of multi-engine time and actual instrument time doing this back in the 1980's.
14:14 this is the coolest shot I have ever seen, both pilots with arms crossed, with sunglasses like a Boss's, Your channel is amazing, I don't know how to fly, but this is so interesting for me and just how professional you are, you will en up being an awesome Capt.
JOSH, which ratings do you have? Might consider an instrument Multi... if the pilot has a Multi-Instructor rating you might just luck out. When I was a kid at 13yo, 44 years ago... my mentor had all the ratings and a 700 Aerostar and I wasn't smart enough to log the several hundreds of hours I flew with him (if we thought about it too) Drats... I did finally end up with everything short of an ATP...
This reminds me of when I got the opportunity to fly a Part 135 Cargo flight with a good friend in a Pilatus PC-12. So new and such a great experience. I'm glad you got this opportunity and shared it with us!!!
Loved the video thanks guys, watching from the Philippines. Met your channel before I went to Missionary pilot training, now I’m doing what I love, thanks for helping me on my journeys. God bless
I love the format of your videos. I love the exposure to the procedures. I'm currently in the commercial pilot training pipeline and being able to have these videos available really helps. I'm new to your channel, and so far I'm hooked. The more I learn, the more I come to you, Flight Chops, and Steveo1kinevo. I used to watch Matt Guthmiller a lot, but then I saw more and more arrogant and irresponsible decisions on his channel and decided that I didn't want that influence anymore.
Josh, the Stratus will give you data like that? I know that the Garmin VIRBs can go G-Metrix data, but I hadn't heard of anybody else proving that. Cool!
I love that song Believer by Imagine Dragons that you were listening to! When the music came on in your plane I thought it was my computer glitching on me but then you told us that the plane has a radio. Lol!
Love the KA-200! I work for a Beechcraft dealership for 14+yrs and been through many, many 200's the biggest event I went through at Beech was way back there was an AD to change the fwd outbd wing spar and it only gave a few flight hrs to remove them, we had so many 200's stacked on our ramp, that was a tough job, I'll bet we did 35 to 40 KA's I've turned wrenches for 35+ yrs and I'd say 30 of those on Beechcraft! Great, great aircraft.
I am only a VFR Private but the knowledge I am gaining from this and all your other videos are PRICELESS. Thank you from the TOP and BOTTOM of my heart Josh for your AWESOME flight vids.
Thanks, great video, lots to learn. Hard to imagine doing all this as a single pilot, single-piston = tough, turboprop = tougher, can not imagine single pilot jet. premier1driver (great instructor - but a jet), steveo1kinevo (TBN turboprop), and citationmax (jet) also great tidbits of information. Good crew resource management presentation on leaddev How Not To Crash An Airplane video.
Awesome, Josh. Thank-you for the videos. I have followed your videos for the last several years, using them as examples for my own flying. I just started my CFI training after passing my Commercial Checkride in October.
Nice flight. I fly a 350 almost exclusively n my old Microsoft FSX (2006). I can't wait to get the new one (2020)! BTW The American FCC has NO jurisdictions over the 'seven forbidden words' on RU-vid, which is international! Thus using 'shit' and 'fuck' is perfectly legal on YT! I hope to also be able to pilot a Pilatus PC-24 Switzerland's (my country of origin) only multi engine (light jet). Also as an advocate for ALL forms of human transport electrification, Israel shall this year 2021 release their new Eviation Alice tri-motor aircraft. I has two crew seats and 9 passenger seats as well. Two pusher props on wing tips and one pusher in tail. NO fossil fuel whatsoever! YAY!
Great video Josh! I'm also thankful you didn't shorten this video. I'm an aspiring multi and turbine pilot so I appreciate being able to watch a couple of pros at work in that environment. It's so different from what I currently do, which is scenic flights in a Waco YMF. Because of this, I thoroughly enjoy watching these types of videos. Keep up the good work!
What variant of the PT6 engine does this B200 have? It sounds the same as the B200s at my local airfield. I've heard other B200s which sound different to this one, including ones which operated locally. It's boggling my mind because at first I thought it was piaggio P180 taking off, but when I saw it was a B200, I was like what? That sounds different.
Gents - Great job here ! This is the BEST King Air video I've ever seen - nothing else even comes close . . . And, it must be the ultimate King Air 200 in the skies -- the updated avionics really stand out along with the many other upgrades you mentioned
Hi Josh. It's been quite a while. Happy to see you back. And yeah. That girl ( wich by the way it's my favourite bi turbo also) has definitely nothing to see with a good old 172. Happy landings.
I tried to watch as much of your video's as I can. I love flying but don't fly myself. I didn't have the commitment to study and get my license. I ride motor bikes the closest thing on the ground to flying. King Air, my favorite aircraft as well. I was in a VP squadron while in the Navy. Was aircrew shortly got some stick time in P3. Then went into Air Force Reserve. Load Master on a C123 Fairchild. Got stick time on it as well. These were just to see what it was like to fly, not long on the stick at all. But I did get to stick a Cessna 150 once. It was a lot different to a heavy. I wasn't ready at first. Then I got to go back to the Navy. This time on a Submarine. They act like an airplane, but in the water. They bank in turns. They have to be trimmed. Controls are similar to aircraft. All operations are done by instruments. This I got a lot of time operating.
Another brilliant video sir. Your introduction is very professional. From watching, you are so ready to be right seat for an airline! Lovely machine too!
Put the check into the G1000 makes it go’s more smoothly and you don’t lose your place. Just FYI the Cockpit doors are to be open for take off and landing. The K200 is my favorite plane to hand fly as it is very well balanced on the controls. Tip also Com #1 should be used for ground and Clearance delivery in the air Com #2 why antenna placement. #1 antenna on the top of aircraft #2 antenna is on bottom you will get better reception. Leave props in climb RPM till at altitude don’t think it matters fly the plane single engine at 15,000 feet see the difference in climb rate. Nice Landing
As a request, it would help if you subtitle the ATC communication to and fro though, that would really make it easier to understand from a total noob's POV. Not sure if you do it now for videos, since this is 3 years old and I only just discovered your videos via suggested videos. If you do already, then forget this request!
Where did you get the 5 hour batteries...Go Pro? I have 3 regular batteries for a Go Pro 3 and I got a dual battery charger in Grand Junction, Colorado a couple of years ago, but I get about an hour and a half of filming per battery on our motorcycle adventures. I need to check on those 5 hour puppies. On the King Air here...great plane, but a little thirsty. I have about 400 hours in a 200.
Not trying to be a troll, catching the "bug", i did not notice the flaps deployed just before landing - Two checklists one before landing gear, one after flaps not mentioned. were they already deployed before that? I have on while i work, may have missed it. Thanks for the great content.
I play this video to listen to while sitting in my chair working on my computer and files. I like to dream-build and imagine sitting in a leather chair in the salon of my Beechcraft KingAir.
I got to ride shotgun in a King , It was awesome and unexpected, Job took me to Reno and had a flight back to Vegas, but work was going good so a friend said he would fly me home. Pulled up to that monster and put a serious smile on me. But when i asked if it would land it'self he said no. Well 3 months later he hit power lines from his home airport in san diego. he didn't make it. He was a great guy.
Why does a pilot need to ask to fly vfr while flying ifr? Well a little probing on that question maybe answered it for myself. Could be because under ifr your route is essentially being given to you, when requesting vfr, your given control back, you can fly more freely, as they waited until the cleared the cloud layer and could visibly see the ground I noticed.
I love this aircraft. Can i go from Toronto to Dubai, once or twice in a year. Will have two pilots and enough time too. Even if it cost me three days from Toronto to Dubai, one way ! I know a business jet will do it better but i am in love with this legendary airplane.
My dad (LeRoy Clay) was the original project manager for the King Air. I have many slides he gave me of Beechcraft designs. Not sure what to do with them. Any suggestions?
