Nice demo, as a real helicopter pilot, i can tell this bell 206 is pretty good. Most people complaining about the flight model, never flew in a helicopter in real life.
Interestingly I've talked to another IRL commercial helicopter pilot who says it's not that great and prefers the Cowansim 206. Especially the way the FlyInside 206 picks up from the ground. For example you can land vertically from a hover moving slightly forward, but when you pick up again without moving the cyclic it immediately flies backwards. He didn't like that this taught you need to push the cyclic forward on pickup in order to go into a hover, which is negative training for an IRL helicopter.
@@tomshackell yes it's true. I tried the cowansim and they have both good features. In ground effect the cowansim is better. I know the real jet ranger has a tendancy to move forward when you pick up and one of them replicate this. the governor is better on the cowan too because when you add power, you have a little drop on your rpm before they come back. I personally like both but i'm sad no one is really better. Both are good but neither are perfect.
@@dewey9-1-12 Thanks for the response! Yeah the FlyInside definitely moves *backwards* on pickup which is really weird. I've struggled to get enough fps to use the FlyInside 206 (it has terrible control lag with low fps) so for now it's mostly just been the CowanSim for me. Hoping to give the FlyInside a more thorough evaluation when I can upgrade my PC. I'm absolutely sure you're right and they both have their pros and cons.
@@tomshackell Yes, overall Flyinside has a better starting sequence and much more realistic procedure about engine management. Autorotation are great too. But Cowansim has better sounds and a flight model ,maybe not the best, but it feels more realistic at some points.
Awesome demo! After a few days with the FlyInside 206 I think I can say that my flying has improved, because the flight model is predictable and believable. It's going to take some time until I can replicate your routine, but that is my next goal now :)
See the stutter happen right after @3:00 ? That stutter occurs regularly with EVERY FlyInside Product, no matter what sim platform, hardware specs, or helicopter model. If you read through various forums, you'll see FlyInside either try to blame a customer's hardware setup or, when confronted with evidence to the contrary, sheepishly admit to their programming code overloading whatever hardware a FlyInside product is being run on. They are always "working on a fix with a future update". FlyInside never fixes a damn thing though, ever, but tries to gloss over this inherent flaw either by shifting blame or always pretending to work on a new secret fix. All of their helicopter models induce stuttering and always have; they ALWAYS will. FlyInside has, however, absolutely nailed the process of charging your credit card (priorities, priorities). Buyer beware.
I only saw your comment now. That stutter is not a Flyinside thing. For me it happens at one point or another with every single aircraft in MSFS. It's a scenery load stutter of some kind that has nothing to do with FlyInside. Also, the changelogs of the numerous updates on their website clearly prove that they fix a damn lot, contrary to your claim. So, not sure what's going here ...
Thank you! I use the TCA Officer Pack Airbus Edition, with the flightstick configured for right hand use. I use the left throttle lever for the collective and the right one for the engine throttle.
i7-8700K (at stock clock settings), RTX 3060 Ti (8GB) and 48 GB RAM. I usually get between 40 and 60 fps depending on the scenery and the aircraft (60 is my max monitor refresh rate). Mostly 60. As for settings. I run a mix of Ultra and High settings and keep running DX11 for now, because DX12 doesn't really run any better, even with DLSS but has a bigger VRAM footprint. Oh, and I don't use any air traffic whatsoever, which gives the framerate a significant boost too. 10-15 FPS more!).
@@Jigsaw407 thanks for sharing details of your rig and settings. I'm planning to upgrade my setup as I run my flight sims on a 7 year old laptop containing a 6th gen i7 and GTX 970M gpu. It served quite well for FSX/P3D and MSFS 2020 is playable for GA, gliders and airliners from small airports at low to medium settings at 20 - 30 fps. Unfortunately it falls short while trying to fly helicopters (especially the add-on ones) as the gpu (and sometimes cpu) maxes out even at low settings and the resultant jerky visuals and laggy control inputs make me motion-sick even after a short 15 minute sim session 🤭
