she wrote this after her husband proposed to her, he took her out on a lake danced with her, and told her the story about how he was before he met her and he knew shed one day become his wife, "can i tell you a story as we dance while the sun starts to bleed" and she went home and looked at her ring and felt so treasured. she is also praising god
There is a interview with Lacy here on RU-vid where she specifically states that this song is about her husband proposing to her, and yes, also about her religion because marriage and religion are linked to her. So to the people who are saying that it's not about the proposal - why continue to deny it if Lacey said this herself? Everyone is free to interpret the song however they like, but that still doesn't change the fact that the song is about her bliss after being asked to be her husband's wife, and she's thanking god for being so lucky to be getting married to him, thus the "Hallelujah, yeshua".
Qué joya, por Dios, qué joya. Un día pediré que me traduzcan toooda la letra, jeje, pero lo poco que sé de inglés y la melodía de la canción ya me transportan...
This song is also about the book of the Song Of Solomon . This is my favorite book in God's Word , and my favorite Scripture verse is , "Song Of Solomon 6:3 , "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine ." I enjoy singing and dancing with passion and power for Jesus , to Christian rock and Christian metal songs every Friday . I've been doing this for 3 years , now , as of next month . This song is so filled with the power of God , so anointed , it's making me cry with joy . This happens a lot , because of the power of the Holy Spirit . Jesus is my True Love , my Heart Song , my Sweet Music , my Joy and Contentment , and my Precious Treasure , as I am His , forevermore . Thank You , Jesus !!!! I am so thankful for who You are to me , every moment of my life , Dear Jesus . I will sing this song next Friday . I must , for Jesus , my Beautiful Sweet Beloved .
No. Lacey said this song is about how she felt when her husband proposed to her one day when he took her to a park. "I am in love and given away" and "Just look at what he's done" made it pretty obvious. This song is so adorable! Hope I feel like this one day.
4 'You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you [a] will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' Exodus 19:4-6
She wrote this song about when her boyfriend proposed to her, he did it while they were dancing by a lake and it was sunset, and she said in an interveiw that later that night she felt treasured.
Thanks for the elaboration! :) I thought about studying Hebrew at one time! But I guess people can't except the truth then and would rather lie to themselves about someone who watches over us all. I love religion and would love to serve the Lord and listen to music dedicated to him. This world has gotten so out of hand...and so out of touch...
I'm a Christian myself and for my opinion of this song, It is a Christian song in a way because shes saying that Jesus died for us and we are his precious treasure. I've seen Flyleaf's interviews and they did say that they are a Christian band and there lyrics have a powerful meaning about God. It's just what I think.
This is a great song. It reminds me to fully place my trust in God, that He's going to get me to where He wants me to be & what He wants me to be & that I can't & don't have to worry about it being my responsibility to get to that point b/c I can't do it in my own power, & that's encouraging. Songs like this help remind me of where I need my focus to be. Like Peter, I can walk on water so long as I keep my focus on Jesus. I don't have to perform or live up to anything, He loves me just as I am.
First time I heard this song it made m think of a bassist named Tommy Joe Ratliff. I guess because of his life before being in Adam Lambert's band he was answering phones for a living. Now he's loved by millions and has become so treasured by so many people.
Why does it matter WHEN somebody listens to a song? The meaning of the song never changes. It stays the same no matter how many years or decades pass by. In my opinion, people need to focus less on the when & more on the music itself. :)
Agreed. According to the stories in the sheet that comes with the album, the song tells a story about how the daughter of the main character (the Commander) had been in comatose for years by their King (aka God) and was to be awakened when her soulmate was found. Eventually her love came, and she was awakened, and the two embraced. It ends with the words "The wedding was glorious." The quote in the beginning of the song was in the entry too.
Watch the video when she is being interviewed about getting engaged to her husband. She says that night after he proposed to her, that she kept having the chorus of Treasure "tonight i've become the most dazzling precious treasure, i'm treasured over all the earth". she did not write that song for him or about him it simply reminded her of that song when he got her that special ring. Hallelujah, Yeshua Loook at what he's done, laying down his life" is a praise to God for what he has done!
me and my (Now ex-best friend) became friends in 5th grade, and we had no idea about eachothers music tastes. She started showing me knives and pens by black veil brides and I just looked at her, laughing. She asked my what was funny and I showed her my music library. She introduced me into more punk bands and I showed her more music like this. Now she hates me.... :/ It sucks because in school we still get grouped together because we are the 'emo' kids.
The song references common themes in the Bible, of being refined, in love, a treasure, of being a sacrifice, being called to wake up from sleep, and of course, the praising of the LORD; "Hallelujah [praise the LORD] Yeshua" could have a double meaning of saying that He saves, and also calling for Joshua to praise the Lord. For those who are not sure about the Bible, this song's lyrics have a lot of religious references; it's not just a song about her husband's proposal, but also of worship.
even though i'm an atheist, i love this christian band regardless of what other's think. And for this song, it means so much more than anything in this world while it plays. thank you Flyleaf
@BVBNetherFate It's a book in the bible, it is a very small book typically found towards the middle of the bible, and it is a love story. It is actually quite beautiful.
Question: How do you interpret the lyrics "Look at what he's done. How he is laying down his life." and the lyrics "Hallelujah, Yeshua" to mean? It sounds to me like the band is speaking on 1 Peter 1:7. Their faith being refined by fire and being found more precious than gold... OR it could just be a love song that I have over analyzed. Thoughts?
At first I was loving and pure of heart. Yet my girlfriend broke my heart and stomped on it, she treated me like thrash, she darkened my mind and clouded my eyes and heart. So much pain, so much suffering inside. I began putting her down too, like she had to me. Yet.. This song reminded me that we are all treasures and we all have flaws and we all deserve love and kindness from one another. To bring love is more powerful and rewarding than bringing pain.. Love and blessings.
We are all dazzeling precious treasures to God, He loves us each so much. Our perfections and imperfections... He loves every atom in His creation. He is in everything, He IS everything!!
According to the little book thing that came with the cd. The song is about a woman who "looked to the Kind (God) to learn about love". She asked the King to pick her a husband. So "She was going to sleep in regard to romance until the King of love decided to wake her... Sure enough, he woke her up and introduced her to a valiant young soldier of the King's." Then a year later they got married. The song is about God and marriage. :D
@bstarquenn11 actually if you listen to alot of their songs a majority of them have a christian theme to them. Beautiful Bride, In the Dark, Chasm, Arise, so many of them. On the first album you could tell, but it wasn't completely obvious. On Memento Mori it's blatantly obvious!!
2014 and people are still listening to Beethoven and Led Zeppelin and Eminem. Music is something that can last for eternity and that's the most beautiful part about it. Something that lasts. Something that can hit you hard years after its written. lol Deep comment for a reply to something so simplistic XD
@clubsandwich77 i love it man it just speaks out that eve though we are just one person taking up space in the world, god treasures us more than anything.
I think music was meant to be interpreted in a different way to each of us. Nobody is wrong. Lacey may interpret it differently than the rest of us, but that doesn't make us wrong.
