In this video i show how to flash open tx firmware on the popular flysky fsi6x radio.

Make sure to back up your original firmware.
You could brick your radio if wrong steps are followed.
Soldering the motherboard requires good soldering skills so proceed carefully or you could damage the motherboard.
Install this firmware at your own risk.
No one is responsible if you damage your radio or model as the firmware is still in development and could have bugs and issues which could cause your model to operate abnormally.

Excellent video Rakish, thanks. I have to check it, but I think that the white socket close to the flashing pads, has all the pins needed, I have to verify this with a multimeter. That would allow to flash without soldering.

Great video, After install open Tx firmware does the transmitter required external module or it will work with inbuilt module and receiver?

Mariano is currently working on how to get it working. But I've used uhf system with the DSC port connection so any external module can be used just the DSC port has to be functional which I believe needs some work

Hello there, Excellent tutorial!. I have a question: I have the cable that communicates the Radio to my computer by USB, I'm using it for SIM's on Linux and Windows and it works perfectly!, I can use it instead of opening the radio and adding the jumper wires. Regards,

Hi, for the first time when you flash from factory firmware to Open tx firmware you'll either have to use st link via jumper wires or p10 jst connector or jump r53 pads to initiate dfu mode and use stm32 cube programmer to flash Open tx. After you have installed latest open tx firmware you can use the regular cable to update the firmware via dfu using the trim buttons 👍

I'm looking to flash mine to OpenTX, I still have other questions: 1.- Can you please share with us the cable connection on the USB side to the jumpers on the motherboard, you show an image in the video but it's not detailed how to connect this 4 cables on the USB side. 2.- Have you successfully flown on this FS-i6X and OpenTX? if it's so is there any complaint, problem, or anything to consider it not stable. Hi, does not work for me. St link sw shows 3.17 v, target not connected. Is it correct the RST pin (there is a RST named pin on the board, same version of video) ? Did You forget v 3.3 ?

You have to make sure the radio is Powered on. Because I haven't used the 3.3v or 5v pad I power on the radio while flashing. If it's off stm utility cannot connect to target. If you have connected the rst swdio swclk and ground correctly then you should get it working. Make sure the wires match the right pin on stm adapter too. 👍

Hi i watched your video about 3 month ago an i was happy to get my new FlySky i6x but i was trying to flash it and all the connections are made properly i literally fallowed your video until connecting the smt32 connector getting conected to the computer since as soon as i connect it to the computer the radio start beeping for some reason: Important to say no spark no wird sound , if i turn on the controller it works fine with no problems what should i do ?

Seems like the ground wire connection is touching some other wire causing it to beep. Check the connection and solder joints for any bridge. You may follow the dfu method which is easy and needs no soldering.

OK. ... It was ground connected in the wrong pad, thereafter it flashed correclty. ...but now... if I disconnect the st-link, the on-off switch does not work (come up) any more. If I reconnect st-link, fs-i6x display lights up again and menus work... Any idea ?

Seems like you have the solder wires touching eachother or bridged somewhere while soldering. Inspect the solder points and make sure your wires are not touching eachother. If you have ground connected to stlink then the radio becomes unresponsive. So best once flashed discontent wires from st link adapter and tug the wires making sure they aren't touching eachother

@@RakishRc i don't understand one thing First of all the radiolink use stm32f103 vert6 arm based microchip And i have the full circuit diagram of the transmitter Most importantly I'm not good at programming but from my least memory i can say it's very possible to be able to use opentx in this tx But is their is specific firmware nessecary for that tx ???

@@RakishRc in the radiolink transmitter if you open the transmitter they even add 3.3 GND RX TX BOOT0 RESET pad FOR FURTHER CONNECTION AND THEIR IS USB CONNECTION AVAILABLE TOO and the tx modeul use spi communication for transmitting data

Try new fresh system. I had connection problem when I tried to do it on a old system, probably it had old drivers that I used for hoverboard flashing. When I switched to fresh windows 10 it connected after try.

Once You have installed opentx firmware the first time, is it possible to update it by means of opentx method, or is it still necessary to use soldering ? Is it possible to use usb ? (Fs-i6x does not provide sd card ...) ?

The developer is still working on it so hopefully via the ps2 port at back we could update in future. Currently you can either keep solder wires attached or use a debug port available on the bottom right of motherboard with appropriate connector if you can find

It can be possible but due to storage limitation it's not implemented. Erfly6 has voice you could try that perhaps but you'll need to make some hardware changes i guess

@@keithmercieca6000 i am not a 100% sure but you need to install a audio player. Id suggest join the erfly6 telegram group and get help from the folks there. Since I don't have a fsi6 i haven't been able to test it or make videos on that.

@@keithmercieca6000 you can install erfly6 firmware on FSi6X too. Erfly6 is meant for fsi6 which is similar to open tx since fsi6 cannot support open tx. Both firmwares offer elrs support

What features can get upgrading to open tx?

Gautam with open tx you can configure various settings with a lot more freedom. Like you can have multiple mixer options, customize home screen and telemetry screen. You could use an external module and option to use more channels than what's available with stock firmware. I've got a video covered on all that.. will be uploading soon

@@illusionistsam okay 👍 so there is open tx firmware 1.1.1 available. Try to install that. Connect the st link, power on the radio don't bother about the screen as long as it's lit. And then connect in the st link utility software. You should be able to flash it.

@@Ejunsun okay you have the FSI6 radio not the FSi6X.. open tx for that radio is not yet developed but will be in the future. You can use er9x for this radio which is similar to open tx. For that the process to install firmware is bit different. I'll post the link below

Hi, Is this a BUG ? : I can set up the 2 position switch to CH5 (1000 - 1500 (not 2000 ??)) I would need it to be 1000 and 2000 and I can not find a way to set 3 position switch (CH6) to output 1000 - 1500 - 2000 values. I managed to get 1000 and 1500 only ? Anyone can advice me ?

Hi, is that with elrs setup or flysky afhds2a protocol? Because I have observed that channel 5 and 6 don't work in simulator mode for some reason. So I am not aware of the channel resolution issue in normal mode but I'll have to check.
