Good interview, but won't withdrawing from a tournament normally leave an opponent without a game, which is unfair on them. That's what would happen in the UK at least.
In an invitational yes, and you shouldn't withdraw then if at all possible. But in a big open tournament, withdrawing is just as likely to give someone a game that wouldn't get one as to deprive someone of one (assuming its 50/50 that there is an odd/even number of players)
