This is a higher quality version of the original upload I sent of jet fighter pilot scenes with Nash the Slash's FM doing "phasors on stun" live. RIP nash www.santorinire... www.santorinise...
Phasors on Stun --- one of my favourite songs of all time. So much talent comes out of Canada. Rush, Saga, Triumph, Tragically Hip, Barenaked Ladies, Gowan, Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell/Max Webster, April Wine, FM ... shall I go on. Amazing talent!
Saw 'Nash the Slash' many times doing stage performances in Ontario, Canada. He was a true, unique talent that put on a (very loud) enjoyable, memorable show. Rock In Peace, Nash. Thank You for the Music.
Stratengers in Toronto every weekend for a few months in 1993 always a great show and at a venue I'd seen lots of live bands Sadly it closed for good on Jan 31 2021 RIP Nash
When FM was trying to get their 1st record deal, no one wanted them. The CBC put out album 1 taking a big chance. First time I heard POS on a new FM Rock station, I ran out and bought the album.I wasn't alone. In a day when Disco ruled, they were way ahead of their time. That first album sounds as good today as it did 30 years ago. It fits today's Industrial Techno! I had the record, then the cassette, then the CD and now sits on my HD in MP3. It will be on every device I buy in the future.
After all these years, I still get chills whenever I hear this song. What a great rendition. The Jet pilot theme lends itself nicely to this song. Some really nice footage there. Thanks for this.
I was in college in Ohio when I first heard this on wksu's prog. rock program at 2AM one morning. Couldn't get it out of my head. Got the album (yes, album, then), and was introducing my music buff friends to this mesmerizing music. Great band, great musicians.
drooling....just saw FM a few months ago...and the Hacienda in Toronto, they were incredible....Cam Hawkins keyboard solo in this tune is amazing. they had a new mandoviolin guy..Maurizio something ...
This reminds me of CITI FM in Winnipeg in the 14 months or so after they went on air (April 1978) and before "Bro. Jake's" anti-disco movement ended much of the innovation and variety the station had become known for among my high school peers. That magical period introduced me to this band and prompted me to buy the album. Of course, I may just be nostalgic for that old Marantz receiver with the big blue tuning dial that I had in my bedroom back then.
Oh man. I remember the first chance I had to see FM live was when they opened for RUSH on September 2, 1979 at Varsity Stadium. Seeing RUSH was enough to floor me but finally seeing FM made that show one of the best concert experiences of my life. Loved these guys. Thanks very much for posting this. I appreciate it. :)
I love this song. Used to play on the radio in Louisiana years ago. I discovered it again listening to radio staions in Canada on line since Houston, Texas where I live has the worst radio stations.
RIP, Nash the Slash. You were a great musician, and a great innovator...you will be missed, sir...you did things with a violin and mandolin I had never heard before :). Awesome stuff, thanks for the music!
DAMN this is an awesome tune!!!! Like one of the comments below, I get chills when I hear this song. The jet pilot video really helps give you a bit of an adrenaline rush. Who needs coffee - if you need a kick, just watch this video and listen to the music. Thank you so much for sharing this gem!
Phasors on Stun [Cameron Hawkins, Nash the Slash, Martin Deller] Hold fast Hold on Nothing is a dream, yet in Changing faster It never seems to be here long Move on Turn 'round Just can't seem to find it, try and Reach out Hold out I cannot touch the wind I touch you Reach out Hold out Nothing here is real, try and Searching farther It almost seems to live until it Moves on Turns 'round Just can't seem to lose it, try and Hold fast Hold on I cannot ride the wind I ride you Hold fast Hold on Nothing is a dream until you Wake up Cry out Now it isn't real, now you Hold fast Nothing is a dream Hold on Just can't lose it now Move on Turning round and round Wake up You cannot ride the wind
um- cam/nash/dellar nash is plewman- mi really hate when people think they know it all and have to drop the plewman name- i worked w/nash- and fm- for over a decade and i NEVER once uttered the name jaeff plewman
@@mdent23 I did not give them the name of any living person. I did not reveal any state secrets to which I may or may not be privy. I gave them one name.
Never get tired of this gem. I so love this video. Major props to who ever thought/took the time and effort to put this amazing arial footage with a perfect kick-ass song. kudos all day long!!
My favorite music video. The mix of the song and the aerial footage has kept me inspired for years whenever I think something is impossible. The most incredible thing i saw in my life was an F 16 hover about 40 feet above the ground pointed verticaly for about 10 seconds. Then shoot straight into the sky. Pilot had balls of steel.
I was there.... 79? 80? That was the RUSH HEMISPHERES tour. My first.....almost everything. I still make the car rattle with that tune...maybe I'm not listening close enough but nothing sounds that good anymore.
grabbed some tabs and thought cool, I can learn this and play it no sweat No, Nash had a special thing going on. Same with the vocals. Very special song.
I still have my test-pressing version of the vinyl. A generic LP in a plain, white sleeve. The inter-office memo about the album is still attached. I worked for the company that manufactured the cassettes and 8-tracks.
Yes, you saw the warm up gig for NEARfest which was the same week. I was fortunate enough to witness the NEARfest show. And that appears to be the end of FM. There are no plans for future LIVE events at all. The mandoviolinist was just a hired hand.
@@mdent23 Was thrilled by this vid 14-15 years ago, and Nash's music at that time. Then, I totally lost touch. Didn't know he died. Thank you for telling me, Michael Dent. RIP Nash!
@pikeasaurusrex Maybe his mother went to a F.M. live concert and he heard it then. After he was born he had a nagging thought that he was supposed to write a song...... :}
I've seen the CBC waste a hell of a lot more money on many less worthwhile things. CanCon was supposed to help Canadian Artists, but in the end it made it harder for them reach the international stage. I agree that the gov screws up when they try to compete with the private sector. I can think of many extremely talented Canadians who were not accepted in this country until they were big hits in Europe...Rush, Saga etc. A record deal is the difference between an artist and a STARVING artist.
Back in the 60s and 70s when the Israeli pilots were still flying Fouga Magisters(max speed 450mph), they were so skilled at handling the old buzzards that they actually would fly the Mig21s into the sides of mountains in their homeland. That's no shit. Read the book Zanek and learn something besides the easy and obvious.
Staying that close...ie 'Being a Pilot'.. prevents enemy from pushing their own buttons. If you think it's easy getting paid to fly combat jets....please apply and tell me how you're doing. PS...GREAT UPLOAD, thx!
@prsjoe like as if one pilot would chase another pilo t!?!, they just shoot at them from 2-3 km away, they dont even see their enemy most of the time except for a blip on their sreen
HAPPY CANADA DAY! Time to bust out the roto-toms, mandolin and mini-Moog to take a journey across time and space with Canada's original progressive rock band … FM! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z0b0uTBbayY.html
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on this particular recording of the song? Can't find it anywhere, and I actually tried to copy this song -- but no one's suggestions worked. I'd rather just buy it for myself or whatever, to avoid getting a virus. If anyone can help, THANKS!! :o)
