Hi Rich. I'm new to the RC world. I have an Aeroscout and love it. I've done 450 touch and goes (out of a planned 1000) on it in order to get proficient at approach and landing. My next plane is the Habu SS 70 mm. After getting proficient with the Habu would you reccomend the Avanti?

Sure. The Avanti & Futura would be great options. You have the FMS AVANTI 70MM, The FMS FUTURA 80MM, & Freewing Avanti 80mm .... All are great options!

I'm looking for a 70mm sport jet which will work ok for hand launching and belly landing on the pasture next to my house. This is for practicing aerobatics when I can't get to my regular flying field. So any comments Rich?

It should work ok, but you would have to try it to know. Its small enough yo hand launch. Also the FMS or E-flite Viper may also work.

Probably my favorite rc plane of them all. It just looks like it tracks wonderfully, looks amazing... and the sound, the SOUND! Must be one of the best souning EDFs out there, not sure what else could compete. Definitely need to add some one once I'm proficient enough to fly again! (Good decade of neglecting the hobby)

Foam flys good! This EPO material is NOT your typical styrofoam.... its tough!

I know this is an old vid but I just picked up the Avanti v3 and by the book I ordered 3300 6s's. Thank for the review. I'll add 2 oz to the canopy! By the way, mine came with the Reflex v2. Have you used this? I fly mostly giant scale stuff and never use gyros, although I was impressed by the easy config and it seems to work. Hopefully she flies well!

You may or may not need the extra weight in the new version, especially with the reflex added stabilization.

Hey Rich! In video you stated 100% on full but using 70% medium for flying. I seen in other videos your using 125 (high) 100 (mid) and 80 (low). Do you have this plane dialed down? Maybe doesnt need as high percentage or you didnt move the control rods for better resolution like you talk about in videos?

BD, it depends in the plane. This plane is so fast that you want less control surface movement for high speed flight and more movement when you slow it down. I sometimes can get away with using 125% on a slower model & often move the rod inward on the servo horn side to use the 125%

Hi Steve, I like this jet and would like to have thrust reversing on it. This Avanti comes with a Predator 80A 5A BEC. If I swap it with an Avian 100A 8A Bec, can the electronics be harmed due to the higher amperage? The Avian 80A ESC also has an 8A BEC, so I figured the 100A might be better, but I don't know a lot about amperage and how higher or lower numbers can affect the electronics. I would appreciate any info you can offer on this. Thanks Steve and I really like your videos.

Is this plane capable of the same top speed as the eflite viper 70mm? Really like the avanti v3 but am considering the viper due to its high top speed and low cost with as3x and safe mode equipped

How does this jet fly compared to the Viper? Does it fly similar? Thanks

I prefer it to the viper, even though both are similar. The viper is more "airliner" like with its winglets and smooth flight characteristics. The Avanti is a bit more nimble and aerobatic. Both planes have a very wide flight envelope and will fly well fast and slow.
