I honestly think that the "malfunctions" the animatronics have are actually the children either trying to call for help or it is them trying to warn other people. Exactly how the "cutseens" were basically them trying to warn people. Another rare thing I think it could be is that they are so worn out from doing the same performance for 30 years straight their bodies are tired and can't go on.

So he played a demo tape that switched the animatronics from free roam mode to performance mode and this was the result. Once passive animatronics now becoming covert killing machines fueled by the wrath of the spirits of the dead children. With henry's fears realized, it was already too late. I liked the detail where the animatronics were trying to get you to leave. It's like they really don't want to hurt you and are trying to save you. I like that a lot more than just giant robots trying to kill me.
