Yeah, I only looked around the cameras during the first two nights. The later nights were basically check Freddy and Foxy (FNaF 1) and always keep it on the music box (FNaF 2) I did check around every cameras in FNaF 3, but that was mostly to find and lead Springtrap away. FNaF 4 didn't have any. Sister Location only had them in the secret ending on Night 5 and the custom night, which you can barely see anything because of how fast you need to react. And finally Pizzeria Simulator also didn't have any (Help Wanted doesn't count because it's technically just the previous games again but in VR. UCN is just like the other custom nights, check fast react fast. And don't get me even started on Security Breach) It really makes me wish for a FNaF game/fan game where you can check the cameras all you want without the worry of power or music box, and make it feel as if the cameras are your only hope to survive (but I guess that would make it too easy, unless there's a new mechanic to counter it)
in the later nights you have no time to check the cameras, believe me. there will be animatronics coming after you from literally all directions, and you still have to always worry about the music box.
I love how nearly all of these are super well done and fit perfectly into the scene, and then there's Mangle slapped into scene like a sticker Edit: Since nobody called me out for it I just wanna go ahead and mention that Emiliano Muñoz Diaz made the exact same comment several months before mine. I didn't steal his, great minds just think alike is all. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due, since despite the fact that he beat me to it, mine got more attention for some dumb reason.
scott probably didnt have time to render mangle fully into the inviroments without losing on the hype train the first game had, so he probably just slapped it on the screen and shipped it
@@michaelaxelafton1611 almost makes me wonder if Mangle was a big motivator for Scott including a shitton of static. It definitely worked, if that is the case, because I never noticed how bad she looked.
1:25 Fun fact, this birthday sign behind the animatronics is actually part of a helpful bit of environmental storytelling. Phone guy’s prerecorded messages are mentioned to take place during the summer (welcome to your new summer job) and the gameplay itself takes place in the fall (the paycheck at the end is dated for November). The last call mentions how the final event Freddy’s will be hosting is a birthday, before closing down. The decorations for that last day are still up throughout the entire the game, helping to further cement FNaF2 as taking place shortly after the closing. The birthday decor remains untouched, long after the party is over.
I wouldn’t be too sure about that. The first phone call is absolutely pre-recorded but the Night 6 phone call is most likely live as it wouldn’t make sense to pre-record a last minute message warning a particular person about a recent event. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say the happy birthday banner is up permanently as party rooms in a pizzeria are likely to see only children’s birthday parties.
@@darndavid7569 I don't think the night six call can be live, as that would create a timeline inconsistency. The night six call takes place just before the last day ('one more event scheduled for tomorrow'), and the ending newspaper establishes the location as having a total lifespan of 'only a few short weeks'. Therefore, the night six call can only have been recorded, at maximum, 'a few short weeks' after the night one call. The gameplay takes place at least a couple months after the opening, counting from an unconfirmed time in the summer to mid-autumn, which edges it out of that window of time. The calls must all be prerecorded for the dates to line up. EDIT: To address your concern of the call sounding too rushed and last-minute to be a recorded message, consider the previous night guard who phone guy was originally talking to, the guard for whom this was a 'summer job'. That last call probably was indeed made live about current events, but to that previous guard instead of the player. Going a little bit into murkier speculation, I'd guess we're only hearing the previous guard's messages because they're relevant and informative enough for the company to reuse, to train the next guy.
withered freddy is genuinely one of the most intimidating fnaf characters ever. that still expression on his face, his hulking exterior, to the point where he has to bend over just to look at you, and how for most of the time, he's shrouded in darkness with his pupils glowing through the dark. then there's his office pose. how he reaches for you, his eyes staring off into the distance as his face keeps a slight smile, while the real scale of him sets in as the lights flicker. just a shame his jumpscare is so awful
For me, It's how he looks waaayyyy too calm compared to the other animatronics. It's like while the others are trying to hunt you down, he is in no rush. He knows he will get to you wether you like it or not
Wither Freddy on Camera: _"Calm and collected killing machine slowly approaching you while staring into your soul from the darkness..."_ Wither Freddy's jumpscare: *"IM HANGRY NOM NOM NOM"*
You won’t believe me but the moment I literally finished reading your comment I saw it and when I clicked on the number it was still the same I didn’t even realize I was there
I miss when FNAF was like this. Eerie, creepy, ambient, and actually scary. Even if it wasn’t ‘scary’, it still had great atmosphere and personality unlike what the franchise has turned into as of today.
@@cypher838 same thoughts except ffps was actually horrifying when it wanted to be, unlike sl which added way too much underused gameplay elements (I.E. the vents and springlock suit) over actual horror, same with ucn and by security breach horror was barely even used

@@J.W.G.L I think what they meant was how did fnaf went from being scary, eerie, atmospheric, mysterious, to something like Security Breach which is none of those things
Man, I still remember this coming out the day before Veteran’s Day in 2014 with zero warning, and me getting to watch all of it knowing I had no school tomorrow. I was by a cozy fire, too. Now it’s Veteran’s Day 2022 and I’m chilling in the exact same room watching this. Fees just as cozy as ever! I remember being so taken aback by how vibrant the game looked, the Puppet looked way more colorful than I thought it actually was due to the mask. Made everything truly feel “modern” in a time before we knew this was a prequel!
honestly, 2014 was such a vibe. i remember i was in a wedding party and a playground was near the area was full of big kids playing fnaf 1 and 2. i still remember the noises of the flash light, cameras switching, statics and of course, the music box. It was during the night. adults were far away from us. everywhere around us was just plain dark, and seeing the orange street light made the whole playground just uneasy. Felt alone and fear because of how the game sounded and seeing a few peaks at the game screen, i felt being watched by the animatronics it’s something i’ll never forget. it holds a special place in my heart and i hope i get to experience it one last time. 1 last fact- I was 8 years old when the game came out. same age when i first found out about the games existence when the older kids played it
at the very beginning it was said it was the restaurant rebranded, though it makes sense for how phone guy was able to be alive, but it doesn't make sense with him explaining things like how there's "no longer doors" or how the restaurant was "given new life" maybe the narrative switched (like how in fnaf 1, they're just animatronics that want to follow orders and put a suit on what they believe is an exoskeleton, and then it was changed into "the animatronics are possessed by murdered children that want to kill you because you look like their murderer since you're his son" completely disregarding the fact the phone guy was attacked too and had a very reasonable explanation for why they would want to get you and other people working at night) the lore is very confusing and I kind of wish it kept on the track of the first game and dove further into why the animatronics were programmed that way instead of it turning into generic horror possession stuff
@@c0zmozys the joke is like when you’re sitting at your desk playing games late at night or something, and when you hear your mom coming, you rush back to your bed so fast you don’t actually lay down you just throw yourself on the bed to try and look like you’re asleep.
Finally! Someone understood that this is a brightened image instead of saying "This is not in the game." Or "I've never seen this before." Or "It's unused."
I legitimately thought 1:29 was some sort of fake image slipped into the mix, like a creepypasta. It took me a bit to realize that it's the "abandoned animatronics" room - Definitely the creepiest vibe out of the bunch.
Absolutely facts. When I first saw this I was like, WOAH THATS WEIRD!!!! But then I saw it was the normal abandonded animatronics room with fog added to it. Still extremely creepy.
2:01 i don't know why, but Bonnie just standing there all alone on the end of the hall in that unsettling pose always gave me the chills, something very eerie and disturbing about that sets me off
I also find the image scary. The withereds are considered one of the most threatening animatronics in the game. This shot shows the terrifying concept of them starting to come.
It’s probably because of Bonnie’s broken face. It makes it look like that entire hole in his face is his mouth stretching that wide open. I hated that imagery.
I once saw Withered Freddy in a party room camera and he immediately jumpscared me after that. I always assumed that if you looked at him on the cams too long he’d kill you instantly.
How did Withered Freddy kill you if he was in a party room? Unless I’m wrong, the only way he can kill you is if he comes in your office and you put the mask on too slow, just like Withered Bonnie or Chica.
@@mrglitterbutter2020 it was kinda rushed but Scott had animating for some deaths but it was like around 50 gigs so he had to remove some animations and make it a small game so it was runnable
I feel like he must’ve been frustrated with Mangle, making him an overlay, he is the most detailed character in FNaF behind his counterpart: Nightmare Mangle and Phantom Mangle
2:03 For a long time I wondered if a child's body would really fit inside one of these animatronics. After seeing this terrifying image of Freddy being bigger than a door, I realized how big these robots are. It's very uncomfortable just to imagine seeing one of these in real life, it's almost as if they were freaks that should never have existed in first place. I really miss when FNAF was actually scary
If you want to see how large Withered Freddy is, in almost half of his images is him BENDING OVER SLIGHTLY. He's so tall he NEEDS TO BEND OVER just to fit.
FNAF VR really shows how tall the animantronics are. Just look at gameplay footage, and you’ll see how adults look like children compared to the animantronics.
i did wish we could have saw some blood on the withered animatronics cause its been 2 years Since William Stuffed Cassidy And the other 4 children into the animatronic suit's
@@curlyheadrico9537 Honestly by the 3rd game, I lost most interest in the series by then, so I never really knew much about it. From what I do know, it does seem pretty scary but the whole atmosphere is completely different imo. Also I never got into the 4th game at all
I don't think anything beats Mangle in the hallway. The obscured features and glowing eyes really got me as a kid. I couldn't tell what it was supposed to be.
@@Muddler182obvious as a render in game since it look awful in all cams, except the vents in the cam and office, the hallway (not in the cam) and in her kids cove
We have to give a great credit to SC for rendering all these scenes individually and then slapping them together and ensuring the never conflict eachother. It's like so insane to me that he had the idea of taking renders and making them into a game just by using the still images and mind you the game was out in 2014.
@@specterx2135 but when you use your flashlight through the monitor it uses up your battery which doesn’t make sense if it’s attached to the camera since you have your actual flashlight with you so it’s impossible to use your flashlight through the monitor
Fnaf 2 ambience was just really good. Too bad you can't look at the cameras because of the constant onslaught and being forced to stay on the prize counter. People may love fnaf 2 but I think it needed far more time in the oven
Imagine spending 30% of development on doing all these animatronics screens Just for the player being forced to look at Prize Corner if they want to beat the game.
Yeah, fnaf 3 did good by forcing you to search the cameras to find springtrap and lure him back, allowing you to see and appreciate the detail put there by scott
I think it because Bonnie's one is already quite annoying and long, adding Chica would've made it worse and could have caused Glitch if they came at the same time
I honestly think Scott making the series less creepy and more cartoony and focusing more on the story is what drove it downhill. The realistic, creepy visuals and tension are what made the game so fun and mesmerizing.
It was not scott fault, It was steel wool fault since scott made all fnaf games until UCN, and all of them had this atmosphere, only fnaf 6 got a different atmosphere and got a simulator on it, and UCN is not meant to be scary, but to be hard and funny, but still good games
I feel like he actually made the series more and more darker and oppressive in atmosphere in my opinion, though I do think the story was good to end at sister location I think it's all best experienced just knowing the basic story of William afton and the murders that occurred and the motives of the animatronics, but coming to your own conclusions about everything else I think sister location has one of the coolest, creepiest, horrible and downright hellish locations in a horror game, it's a 80s nightmare robot factory made by a child murderer deep underground, and I think Scott helped make that happen Of course he does have problems and he isn't blameless for the series going downhill, I just think that he definitely made the series darker and never fully leaned into making it more family freindly
I still remember that fateful day. It was on December of 2014. Me and my brothers were watching Guardians of the Galaxy. I went over to Cason and asked what he was playing on his phone. He said Five Nights at Freddy's. I wasn't aware that there was a first one. I watched as he was jumpscared by Toy Bonnie. It was slightly startling. It wasn't until he told me that his dead body was stuffed into an animatronic suit that really gave me the chills. My other brother, Rogan, overheard us talking about FNAF. He saw how scared I was. So he decided to pull a prank on me. He turned off all of the lights in the house while we were all in the game room. Then, he ran towards me at full speed in the darkness as if he were an animatronic jumpscaring me. He crashed into me so hard that he busted my lip. And that is how Five Nights at Freddy's traumatized me.
Another idea your brother could have done is turn the lights off and play Toreador March music box on his phone while holding the phones light onto his face so it looks like Freddy when he plays his music box
@@xshxr but imagine a dumb little kid opens the door and sees a faceless rabbit, and a giant T-posing chicken with a broken jaw and no hands Or the staff locks the door but if they did how does it open at night
Yeah, it's just a PNG over the cameras images. Heck it was even manually placed, the actual game files only have the PNG of Mangle, there isn't ones on the cameras. Also *_Henry's Stickman Dance_*
@@DoctorHadi1987 I mean its pretty easy to export stuff into your other projects so i dont know what scott was on when he just plastered mangle all over the cameras 💀
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely fucking terrifying the earlier games were? No futuristic silly games like security breach. Just a simple horror game where there are horrific killing machines stalking you whilst you are all alone in a dark, eerie pizza place.
Man I haven’t played these games in years but seeing the animatronics stood there, staring directly at you gives me some primal fear lmao. Even the vr version isn’t as scary as the original.
Toy Chica bending over at 3:00 is in my opinion one of the most terrifying things the animatronics can do in the game. Imagine being the guard on night 1, just casually scrolling through the cameras and then seeing an animatronic doing something that it should be mechanically incapable of
@@CantOpener So, this animatronic, called the puppet, stays inside his box if his music box is wound up. If his music box is empty for a while, the puppet starts to come out. Once he comes all the way out, he will come kill you, even if you wound up the music box again. Nothing can be done to prevent your death, unless you are already at 5 AM.
@@CantOpener thats The Puppet (she/her). She mainly resides inside the giant present box, dormant by a music box that the player has to wind up. If the music box is fully wound down, The Puppet exits the present and will now kill you in less than 30 seconds. You have no defenses against her. Also very important in the lore but thats another paragraph of information.
@@rixzin5046 full body animatronics tend to be a bit taller than an adult, which is fucking terrifying, because if they went rogue to the level that fnaf depictes them, they could easily overpower someone
@@mrult28 idk, maybe there was some sort of technical issue, with the way that mangle approaches your office there would’ve had to be a ton more different camera screens so he probably just went with the easiest option
@@turdboxes5660 Mangle isn't any special from any other animatronic. He always follows the same path and then goes through the right vent, I don't see what's hard about rendering her. With this logic, any animatronic could have been a png on cams, because It's the easiest way
idk if it's cause this is my favorite game in the franchise but fnaf 2 has a special atmosphere none of the other games were ever able to capture. its just so good.
Fnaf 2 did so much for the fnaf franchise as a game. It improved the quality of the first game with better visuals and new mechanics, but was sadly the last Office based game that took place IN a family diner making it special. The closest thing to fnaf 2 I would say was Sister location custom night but even saying that is a reach. If only Scott had stick to the original plot of the movie
In my opinion, Where Dreams Die is my favorite but this one is really nice. Gives that feeling of hopelessness, which feels fitting since that’s exactly how I feel on night 3 and above.
Mangles appearances had the potential to be so bad ass, AND THEY SOLD IT. The bag was there and they SOLD IT. Had she been an actual model instead of a sticker on the corner of the screen, it’d make the game so much scarier imo.
God looking at videos of this game brings back such nostalgia. A better time, before Security Breach and the books. When it was just two games with a creepy unsolvable mystery, hints of murder and possession. Something terribly wrong is going on here, but we could never figure it out. The series was way scarier back then
Game is one of the top in the past decade, NO games were doing this before Fnaf, The Lore of this game hella complicated yet so immersing, the visuals, the thought that every place, every animatronic has a whole meaning behind how they got there and there was actual thought put into this game, when it came out small youtubers would play it and blow up that shows you how goatted this game is, a community that showed out you got some actual dope Fan games and Fan art, to this day games like this are still being made, other good ones (Five Nights at Candy's, Treasure Island) game is top 10 If not top 3 in the past 10 years 💯
The Golden Freddy head in the halway always scared me Like imagine you're on the night guard shift, nothing is happening, it's eerily quiet, then you decide to light up the halway and you see a semi-noticable giant Golden Freddy head, and before your brain can decide if it's there or you're just going mad, it starts floating towards you, screaming
