FNIRSI intelligent color screen multimeter DMT-99 (test and teardown) 

No use while charging. Very good. As a designer of meters myself I have done the same. But in a later design I used DC/DC converters and optocouplers for the USB interface, so charging and using could be done safely at the same time. The customers wanted it that way. Also then it is possible to log the data via the USB port.

Looks great for the price! I sorta miss the rotary dial to quickly get to function you need. I actually appreciate that they didn’t just lie about CAT rating and slap it on there like most the cheap meters.

I have their radiation monitor GC-01. It has the same style and coloring of battle star galactica and stargate look. I don't like push button switches for function selection. Old school rotary auto ranging is perfect. You can't improve on perfection. You pick volt/ac and you are ready to go. then want to test continuity, bammmm done. Instead of standing there pushing buttons like a noob, until you get to the right function and most likely miss it the first time around. Having said that, it measures resistance real quick.

Nice meter for the price. It would have been interesting to know how long the device can be operated until it needs a charge. Also, I'm beginning to think that chinese manufacturers sand off the chips to protect against other chinese manufacturers copying their designs.

Už som aj videl na tvojej stránke fotky a popis toho multimetra s digitrónmi a s TTL obvodmi a veľmi sa mi páčil už vtedy.

10 hours of strong endurance - just like me...! But even as nearly 50 bucks for this multimeter is way cheaper than i am, it's too expensive for ordering this just for the pleasure of loving gadgets from china. I will have to stick to myself and qork with the thing i am equipped with for a long time full of pleasure and some ❤.

I'm just curious if the diode arrangement you wrote on the left side of the paper matches the DMM layout? Check center diode.

The accuracy is just insane for that amount of price when compared to fluck series. Overall is a very good meter. One complaint is about the LCD. The display is kinda cool but i prefer a black & white display with a bigger font. I believe it is also cheaper to produce it.

Very cool meter. I will buy one but not for myself but as a gift for an upcoming birthday. This thing cannot replace my CAT 3 1KV/ CAT4 600V calibrated Voltcraft I need to use at work anyways because CAT4 600V is a must for measuring up to 400V 3 phase we are not allowed to use meters that are not at least CAT4 at the given voltage we expect to see.

Very nice meter for eletronics. No CAT III Rating though for electricians....

I think there might be translation error, Regular and Monitor mode are swapped.

My DMT-99 shows 0.000 Ohms of resistance when I short my probes (I haven't even figured out how to REL yet). My Fluke 87V and my Siglent SDM 3055 both show 0.200 with the same probes. I found this behavior strange and wondered what your DMT-99 shows under the same conditions. Thanks.

when you do diode test mode we like to know if it beeps on just shorted test leads not across a diode

Could you tell me the dimensions of the two Fuses inside the device? Are they 6x30mm? Your Review is great!

What do you do with so many multimeters?

Is the ground/shielding of the charging plug conected with ground measuring leed?

Would like to see how good the continuity beeper is. Is it latching? how quick of a connection will it pick up?

What a pity it can't send measured values to PC via the USB port. Such a lost opportunity. It would be much more useful.

Is the meter diode arrangement miswritten on the paper? Is the center diode reversed?

Pretty solid device! The only gripe I have with this thing is that the fuses don't look like proper HRC fuses. They look questionable and aren't even labeled at all.

First two minutes reminds me of my 90's Nintendo Game Boy. Even had a cord. Wasn't much to that either. Graphics better on this.

If the Capacitance mode was able to measure ESR, this would be a excellent meter for electronics techs....with switch-mode power supplies in nearly all modern electronic devices, ESR mode is NECESSARY. Even if the meter had to be slightly more costly to include it.

Can you explain how the multimeter recognised the live from the neutral? I thought becuase is an ac is the same

It seems there is no pods to calibrate the device. Is a digital calibration available or none ? Thx

It's a shame that they laser etched the identifying numbers off the chips. Because of that, I'm not sure I'd buy one. I like knowing what's in anything I buy which lends towards being able to repair it if necessary. I hate it when manufacturers scrub the ID of componants.

I would never buy a DMM with no CAT rating. I would buy an Unitrend instead... UT139A is probably acceptable and decent for about 1000 CZK.

I think Li-po isnt good for meters, also fuses are only for 250V. Ive got Big fuse on my meter. I bet this chinase meter is for 1000V max but real 250V

Without µA range and the connectors in a none standard distance this DMM is useless for me, regardless what the price is.

2:35 Your socket is wired wrong. Most combined plugs that support French/German style have neutral on the left, and phase on the right.

For me the bargraph looks suspiciously fake.

Bought one and regret it. It's inaccurate when measuring resistance. It's also often inconsistent with readings. I would not recommend it.

The recording capabilities are a joke. Designed by marketing and software people who have never used a meter. Graphing is like measuring DC with an AC scope input which constantly changes gain. How about a way to download that graph? Good for people who like shiny objects. Monitoring is like having a car with only a red light when out of gas. Why couldn't they make it graphic. Nice DVM, the rest is useless bullshit. I got mine free. I don't need to pander to manufacturers.
